Best RV Parks & Resorts near DeGray Lake

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

DeGray Lake is home to several full-service RV parks accommodating large motorhomes and travel trailers. Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park provides level concrete pads with full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Catherine's Landing features spacious pull-through RV sites on Lake Catherine with complete hookup options and room for slide-outs. At DeGray Lake Resort State Park, RV campers find generous sites with water and electric hookups, though not all offer sewer connections. Treasure Isle RV Park offers waterfront sites on Lake Hamilton with cable TV and WiFi. "Sites are large, clean and all new full hookups. The couple that manage the park are very welcoming."

Seasonal considerations impact availability at most DeGray Lake area RV parks. Summer months and fall weekends frequently reach capacity, particularly at lakefront motorhome sites. Many parks remain open year-round, including Leisure Landing RV Park which offers 30/50-amp service but prohibits campfires. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger signals at parks closer to Hot Springs and Arkadelphia. Most facilities provide sanitary dump stations for non-sewer sites, clean restrooms with showers, and trash collection. Several parks accommodate pets with designated walking areas, though some enforce breed or size restrictions. During peak season, advance reservations are strongly recommended for motorhomes over 35 feet, as premium pull-through sites book quickly.

    Catherine's Landing

    Very Nice, Lots of Amenities

Catherine’s Landing is a great RV park with lots of amenities and things happening. This park is an RVC Outdoor Destination property which is known for their “resort” amenities. The park is set on 400 acres with one mile bordering Lake Catherine and about eight or nine miles from downtown Hot Springs.

All roads, sites and patios are paved and this is definitely a big rig-friendly park. Every site has water, 50/30 amp, sewer, cable, and wifi. Fire pits and picnic tables accompany all sites. There are a variety of sites ranging from waterfront back-in, pull-thrus, or interior back-in. Waterfront sites have a nice view of the lake from the back of the site and access for fishing. The park also has yurts and cottages (some of which are pet-friendly). Adjacent to the yurts is a nice, large covered picnic area with grills, a dish washing station.

Lots and lots of amenities here. Hiking trails, swimming pool, fitness center, lounge, playground, dog park, zip-line, boat rental, boat launch, store, and disc golf. Some amenities (boat rentals and zip-line) are an extra charge.

Hot Springs is a nice little town nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with interesting history and natural beauty. We found plenty to do from hiking the National Park to learning about the bathhouse history to discovering the gangster influence. We spent four nights and could have stayed longer with all that the town offers. Most people come here to bathe in the soothing warm mineral waters but there is also a horse racetrack, science museum, off road track, water/theme park, alligator farm, and a few museums. Hot Springs National Park has miles and miles of great hiking trails and a great place to spend an afternoon. The town of Hot Springs is very dog-friendly and we found many places that would allow them in and on the patio for lunch.

    Pros:

    • Very nice, clean, well-manicured
    • Lots of amenities
    •  Paved level sites with paved patios
    • The dog park was a decent size for running and mingling with other dogs
    • The hiking trail(about 3 miles) was a big plus and got used a lot.

    Cons:

    • Price. We booked late and didn’t have too many sites to choose from we had to pay for a waterfront site

    Leisure Landing RV Park

    Don't Bother

Gravel parking lot with painted stripes, a patch of grass growing under the picnic table, and full hookups. Be sure to back in centered, others are complaining about hitting their slide outs. Watch your step. One of the long-term residents isn't picking up their dog waste. The nicest spot in the whole place is the little fenced-in dog spot overlooking the canal that makes its way out to the lake you can't see from here.

Gulpha Gorge Campground — Hot Springs National Park

    Beautiful, clean, great location

Beautiful, clean, great location. Camped here in Feb 2020, right on the river. Full hookups, mostly back-in but some pull throughs. Paved, level. Tent sites, too. Clean bathrooms, little camp store. Close to town. Would camp again.

Hot Springs Arkansas Finish Line RV Park Walk to Oaklawn and Bathhouse Row

    Nice little park

This is a nice little gated park. Close to the national park in Hot Springs Arkansas. And right next door to the flat track/casino. It’s pretty new, but not really any extra amenities. 20/30/50 amp full hookups. Concrete pads, and paved streets. Laundry and bath house. Inexpensive. We’d definitely stay here again!

    Hot Springs National Park KOA

    Clean with a dog park

D26 Back-in full hook-ups, fire ring & picnic table. 2 nights - Memorial Day weekend. Good spot, close to bath rooms/shower house/cafe. Pretty level - just 1 leveling block was all we needed for our pop-up. Lots of amenities- cafe, fishing pond, small general store, playground and off leash dog area. Staff was very friendly. Escorted you to your spot and helped us back in. Shower house was always clean. Loved the dog park! We are just starting to travel with our 2 boxers and was so nice to have an area for them to run a bit. Cons - spots are very close, no privacy. Each spot has a very bright “porch” light that is on until Midnight

    Hot Springs National Park KOA

    Pleasant

Stayed 2 nights in a basic one room cabin. Had a double bed and bunk bed. Heat /air and cable tv. They advertise WiFi but we didn’t get good reception even though our cabin was very near the office/pool/bathroom. Clean and well kept. Porch swing, fire ring and water at the site. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Pool is small. Dog play area and kids playground. Good location for exploring hot springs area.

    Cowhide Cove Campground

Really nice small campground at OLD Cowhide Cove

This is to update my previous post. We are now in the Old Cowhide Cove Campground. We have a beautiful spot backed up to the lake with a wonderful view. There are two widely separated camping areas: New Cowhide Cove and Old Cowhide Cove. We ae in OLD Cowhide Cove so this review is specific to that area. Very adequate campsites are well spaced with picnic table, fire ring., 50 amp electric and water. There is a well situated dump station right on the way out. Even though the sites are long enough for most rigs, there is a paved parking area between most sites. Old Cowhide Cove Campground is a small area with only a few sites--a plus for me.

I highly recommend this campground. The unreasonably late check-in time is a responsibility of the COE. There was no one to check us in which was no problem for us as we had advanced reservations and an assigned site which was easy to find and presented no difficulty in backing in.

    Cloud Nine RV Park

Great WiFi, Rec room, and comfort station

This is a nice place with a combination of pull through and back-in spots. Our site (and I’m assuming others) is level with well-packed aggregate. The sites are fairly spacious for this type of layout.

The park is located 10-12 miles outside of Hot Springs. Even though it’s along a highway, it’s quite a ways up a hill and through the woods. We had no issues with road noise at night.

If you want a built-in grill or fire pit, then you’re not going to be happy because they don’t have them. I saw a lot of folks had their own small grills. I also saw a full-size black stone griddle at the rec room, but did not ask if it was available for everyone to use.

    Ouachitas FR179 Dispersed Site

Creekside dispersed camping in the Ouachita National Forest

Camped here on Dec 13, 2023. Along well maintained gravel forest road, FR 179 in the Ouachita National Forest, Saline County, Arkansas. Really nice large site with a creek that flows into the North Fork of the Saline River was behind the site. Site appears to be large enough for 2 rigs no large than a truck camper. Multiple tents can be set up here. Did not have a problem parking our camper van on a level spot. The dirt surface is level. The site has a rock fire ring. Only a few vehicles drove by the site on FR179. Lots of trees surrounding the site with an open sky above for star gazing. Fishing is possible in the North Fork of the Saline River a short walk south of the site. No hiking trails nearby. No T-Mobile or AT&T cell service.  Love this spot!

Guide to DeGray Lake

DeGray Lake offers campers more than just typical Arkansas camping experiences. Located in the western foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, this 13,400-acre reservoir sits at 408 feet above sea level and features 207 miles of shoreline. Water temperatures range from 45°F in winter to 85°F in summer, creating distinct seasonal camping conditions throughout the year.

What to do

Crystal mining excursions: Several campgrounds near DeGray Lake serve as convenient bases for crystal hunting trips. At Crystal Ridge RV Park at Ron Coleman Mine, you can literally walk to crystal mining sites. "The REAL draw here is the mine and we had a blast! We took the spot up top the hill [upper left corner] and found crystals in our campsite around the fire pit," notes camper Justin M.

Boating and fishing: Many DeGray Lake rv campgrounds offer direct water access. Treasure Isle RV Park provides waterfront sites with options for boaters. As one visitor mentioned, "Very nice and clean park. Nice and quite, right on the Ouachita River / lake Hamilton. Very friendly and helpful staff."

Explore Hot Springs National Park: Several campgrounds position you within easy driving distance to Hot Springs attractions. From J and J RV Park, "About 10 minute drive to the National Park/Downtown Hot Springs. Recommend using a water pressure regulator, one of my pipes started leaking from the pressure," advises camper Josh F.

What campers like

Quiet settings away from crowds: Many DeGray Lake rv parks offer peaceful environments despite their proximity to attractions. At Cloud Nine RV Park, "Even though it's along a highway, it's quite a ways up a hill and through the woods. We had no issues with road noise at night," reports Derek N.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the maintenance standards at rv campgrounds near DeGray Lake. At Leisure Landing RV Park, one reviewer noted, "The bathhouse reminded me of a dayspa! The campsites are very small and tight. People and staff are friendly. They have a dogpark!"

Proximity to water: Many appreciate the lakeside settings available in the region. "The dog park is right by the water, and the views are fantastic," says one camper about Leisure Landing. Another visitor at Treasure Isle mentions, "If you get a lakeside spot, they look lovely."

What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: Many rv campgrounds near DeGray Lake have tighter spacing than state parks. One camper at J and J RV Park states, "We stayed for a couple nights. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful creek and open space nearby for enjoying the open air."

Cell coverage fluctuates by location: Service varies throughout the DeGray Lake region, especially in more remote areas. At Cloud Nine RV Park, one camper reports, "Both AT&T and Verizon have full bars."

Reservation timing matters: For Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park and other popular spots, booking ahead is essential during peak seasons. "Great spot to stop right off the highway. Nothing fancy, but clean & everything was easy to navigate. Got there after hours, picked up an envelope to pay when we left & you can drop it in their office mail slot or mail it in. Easy peasy!" notes Mary Elisabeth D.

Tips for camping with families

Look for parks with play areas: While not all rv campgrounds near DeGray Lake have playgrounds, several offer family-friendly spaces. At Arkadelphia Campground, "They have a pool and very clean bathhouse and laundry facility! Owners are super nice people that seem willing to work with us on anything. Even offered us popsicles after biking here!"

Choose sites near water features: Kids often enjoy campgrounds with creeks or ponds. At J and J RV Park, campers appreciate that "the creek is nice and you can hear the water flowing over the rocks at night, the proverbial babbling brook."

Consider activity-focused campgrounds: Some parks offer unique experiences beyond standard camping. At Hot Springs Arkansas Finish Line RV Park, "They have bikes you can rent, and free coffee in the club house. You can't walk to bathhouse row but it was an easy 10 minute drive."

Tips from RVers

Be prepared for varied electrical service: Not all rv campgrounds around DeGray Lake offer the same power options. According to a camper at Leisure Landing RV Park, "Most of the sites are level and are comprised of crushed rock compressed. You're next door neighbor is about 12 to 15 ft from your door. So the sites are a little bit tight."

Water pressure awareness: Several campers mention high water pressure at certain parks. One J and J RV Park visitor advises, "Recommend using a water pressure regulator, one of my pipes started leaking from the pressure."

Watch for low-hanging obstacles: Some parks have clearance issues to note. At Treasure Isle R.V. Park, one camper warns about "low hanging wires were scary pulling into our site, scraping up against our ac units (13.5')."
