Best Campgrounds near Kemmerer, WY

Camping options around Kemmerer, Wyoming range from established RV parks to primitive dispersed sites on public lands. The area includes Riverside RV Park with full hookups in town, Kemmerer Tent Park along the Hams Fork River, and dispersed camping on BLM land near Fossil Butte National Monument. Several campgrounds provide access to nearby reservoirs including Viva Naughton Marina and Fontenelle Recreation Area, while Fort Bridger RV Camp offers cabin accommodations approximately 30 miles south of Kemmerer.

Road conditions and seasonal availability significantly impact camping experiences in this region. Most developed campgrounds operate from May through October, with Riverside RV Park specifically open May 1 to October 15. "This is a BLM facility with paved sites, a metal shade by the picnic table, barbecue grills, garbage, potable water and flush toilets. All this for $7 per site," noted one visitor about Fontenelle Creek Campground. Winter conditions can make access difficult, particularly to higher elevation sites. Cell phone coverage varies throughout the area but is generally good in established campgrounds near town, with one camper specifically mentioning Riverside RV Park's WiFi as "the best we have been around in 6 months."

Proximity to fishing and fossil hunting opportunities represents a common theme in visitor experiences. Viva Naughton Reservoir receives positive reviews for its fishing access, with one camper noting, "The fly fishing is excellent below the dam, which is about a 3/4 mile drive from the campground." The area's primitive sites often lack amenities but compensate with natural features and recreation opportunities. Fossil Butte National Monument's surrounding BLM land allows free dispersed camping with fire rings but no facilities. Campers seeking more amenities gravitate toward the established campgrounds in town or at nearby reservoirs. The region's camping areas generally remain less crowded than more popular Wyoming destinations, offering a quieter outdoor experience with access to unique geological features and fishing opportunities.

Little America RV Park - A Traveler's Oasis

OK in a pinch to spend the night but..

The place is brand new and the spaces are fairly large but it’s like it was designed by someone that learned about RV parks from AI or magazine articles.

The signage is inappropriate or nonexistent. The check in building has a sign in front but no RV parking. The RV area has one way streets but no signs telling you which way to go. We got in early and saw at least a dozen rigs come through and leave, only to return several minutes later. Then most circled a couple of times before they parked.

We have a small motorhome (24’) and tow a wrangler. In eight years we’ve never had such difficulty getting settled as we have here.

The campsites set wide and long but the services are place strangely. In addition, there are trees planted that block the path to parking near them. We had to use extra long sewer hose, water hose, and electrical cord so we could park far enough away to avoid running our slide into them.

I would stay here again but I wouldn’t plan on using anything but electricity service.

    Phillips RV Park

    Fine for Overnight

Park sites are gravel & track dirt into rv. Forget the pet area, it is apparent that picking up after your pet is not enforced. Septic hookup is at the back of the site so hopefully you have a long hose. I didn't!

    Oasis on 80

Made a last min reservation here in my sprinter camper after high winds on 80 made driving near impossible.  Pulled in around 8:30pm so exhausted and they were so welcoming, the spot was open and quiet and protected from the gusts.  Fellow campers were quiet and lovely and my dog loved the little dog run.

    Bear Lake State Park Campground

    Beautiful Paradise 😍

There are no showers. But they vault toilets. The water is perfect and so blue. Really earns the title of the Caribbean of the Rockies. Had my own trail straight to the water facing the sunset. 🥰 It was heaven.

KOA Trail Side, Garden City, UT

    Simple but good location

This is not an amazing place let's just get that out of the way. It is a square lot with a loop and a ton of rv spots. The main bennifit of this place is how close it is to the lake and to the main strip in town with restaurants and shops. You can walk bike or golf cart to some of the best places. The campground has a nice playground for kids and a volleyball court but it is so cramped when it comes to spacing. There are a few trees but not enough to make a difference. Everything is in plain site. However everyone was friendly and waved. Seemed to all. be having a good time. Staff kept the place clean and answered any questions. Had all default needs of an rv park and it's cheaper than many others in town
