St. George RV Park & Campground

St. George RV Park & Campground, UT

Located right off the highway, this a great place to stay for one night or for longer periods. There seemed to be several full-timers living in the campground. You can hear the highway when you sleep, so try to request a site furthest from the road. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was welcoming and accommodating. There was not a dog park or any grassy areas that allowed pets which was a challenge.

    Mammoth Creek RV Resort

Spacious, Grassy, two sided dog park. Breed Inclusive!

This is a Great place! I love that they are pet friendly and not breed restrictive. I have a pit mix (who's just a big ole teddy bear) and you know how that can often make travel and lodging difficult.  I love that he is welcome here. They have a big grassy dog park for him to run and play in, he loves running in the sprinklers! Its two sided and completely fenced in so large and small breeds can have their own safe space to play in. I really appreciate the picnic benches to sit on for the parents. For me this is a huge benefit and I recommend this park for any pet owner!

    Crazy Horse RV Resort

The Perfect 10-Day Stay at Crazy Horse RV Resort!

I recently stayed at Crazy Horse RV Resort in Kanab, UT for 10 days and had an absolute blast! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel right at home—they were welcoming, helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. The resort itself is loaded with amenities that made our stay so enjoyable. The pool was the perfect temperature—so refreshing after a long day of exploring the trails nearby. Our pets stayed free(a huge bonus!), and the dog park was fantastic. Having the dog wash station right there was such a lifesaver after dusty hikes—it made traveling with our pups stress-free. There’s never a dull moment around Crazy Horse. The resort is close to so many incredible attractions—like the Sand Caves, Belly of the Dragon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and of course Zion National Park. It was the perfect hub for adventure, but also a relaxing place to come back to at the end of the day. Between the friendly staff, the clean and well-maintained facilities, and the unbeatable location, this was easily one of the best RV resorts we’ve ever stayed at. We’re already planning our next trip back!

    Snow Canyon State Park Campground

    Disappointed

This is a wonderful campground. The sites are well designed and some are really special. The reason I gave it only three stars has to do with pets. Dogs are not allowed on any hiking trails. They are allowed, however, on the paved bicycle trail which felt dangerous for both dogs and bicyclists. My 17 year old cat is a well seasoned camper. He free ranges around where he feels comfortable and always knows where home lies. The Camp Ranger ordered my cat to be leashed. That was a first in four months of camping and I knew it would not go well. We were going to stay for one week but left after only one night. Disappointed.

Dark Sky RV Park & Campground

    Wonderful camping experience

Dark Sky Campground provides a unique camping experience from the start of your stay to the end. The owners have thought each detail through. You are welcomed by a host that is friendly and helpful. Your camping spot is private and clean with wonderful views of Utah. The campground amenities, like the laundry and the market, work on the honor system. The dog park worked well for us and gave our large dogs an opportunity to stretch their legs. Every Thursday evening the owners host a dinner for the campers. We enjoyed pizza and ice cream with a choice of beverages during our stay. The owners were readily available during the dinner and were eager to hear about your favorite experiences and gave great recommendations for more positive experiences to come. We are already thinking about another camping trip to Utah so that we can stay at Dark Sky again!

    Cedar Breaks RV Park

    Near MTB Riding

We stayed here to get in some MTB riding.  The park is conveniently located whether you want to ride the East or West side/s of Cedar City.  The park is clean, mostly level, and has a nice dog park.  Our site was near the entrance, which meant we were close to Main St and quite a bit of traffic noise.  Next time, I'd look for a place more towards the back of the park.

St. George / Hurricane KOA Journey

    Red Cliffs Hiking

This KOA is located about ten minutes outside of St George and right off the I-15 freeway. It was all the amenities that your typical KOA has; dog park, hookups, cabins, and store. The best part of this KOA is its proximity to Red Cliffs National Conservation Area which is about a mile away. This National Conservation Area is surrounded by towering red cliffs that have miles of hiking trails through them. It's a great place to spend the day exploring.

The only downside is the traffic noise on the I-15 at night. But if you are in your RV or van you will hardly notice it. This is a good campground for any trip to Zion or the surrounding area.

    Cell Service: Good

Guide to Hildale

Pet friendly camping near Hildale, Utah offers diverse options from established campgrounds with full hookups to dispersed sites along Virgin River. During peak summer months, temperatures reach 100°F+ during the day while dropping to 60-70°F at night. The region's high desert climate means limited natural shade at dispersed sites and frequent afternoon thunderstorms in late summer.

What to do

Night sky photography opportunities: North Creek Dispersed Camping provides exceptional stargazing conditions with minimal light pollution. "Stargazing is fantastic, completely unobstructed views with no light pollution... we saw the Milky Way clearly and even caught a meteor shower," notes one camper at North Creek Dispersed Camping.

**Virgin River cooling: ** During summer heat, seek relief along river access points. "The creek was a great place to put some chairs and cool off," reports a visitor about North Creek's stream access. At Sheep Bridge BLM Area, campers appreciate "a path to the river right across from our site as well, which was a nice place to relax."

Wildlife viewing: Early mornings offer opportunities to spot local wildlife. A camper at Watchman Campground notes, "We had deer strolling through our campsite in the morning." The varied terrain from riverbanks to scrubland hosts diverse desert species.

What campers like

Halloween festivities: Fall visitors experience unique seasonal activities at some established campgrounds. "It was Halloween and many of the kids camped around us dressed up in costumes and went trick or treating. Many campers put up festive lighting and one even set up a full size inflatable castle which was a big hit," shares a visitor at Watchman Campground.

Convenient shuttle access: South Campground offers easy transportation to trails and attractions without driving. "You don't need your vehicle after you arrive. Walk to shuttle bus stop 5 to 10 minutes away at the Visitor Center where you have to take a shuttle to get to the hikes and views," explains a camper.

River proximity: Sites near water features provide natural cooling and enjoyment for pets. At Zion River Resort, "The cool Virgin River behind our site was a nice place to soak our tired feet and enjoy a beverage after hiking in Zion," mentions one reviewer about this pet-friendly option.

What you should know

Reservation timing challenges: Planning ahead is crucial for established campgrounds. At South Campground, "Reservations can be made two weeks before your stay, and you can only reserve three nights. We reserved a site for three nights and then waited three days to reserve a site for two more nights."

Seasonal water issues: Water availability varies dramatically by season and location. A North Creek visitor notes, "The creek was dry but trees were lovely!" while another cautions about Virgin River access: "The river also had some kind of bad algae and you were warned to keep all pets, etc. out of the water."

Variable cell service: Connectivity differs significantly between sites. At Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park Campground, "there is absolutely NO cell signal. Great place to get away from everything, but if you're trying to be in contact with the outside world this is not the place to do it." Zion River Resort campers report "virtually no cell signal in Virgin. Certainly not enough to even begin to create a hot spot."

Tips for camping with families

Bathroom conditions: Facilities vary widely between campgrounds. "The bathrooms were never very clean a few hours after the morning cleaning," notes a South Campground visitor, while at Sheep Bridge BLM Area, there are no facilities at all as it's "just a dirt road with other roads you can pull off on to find spots."

Cooling options: For summer camping with pets and children, select sites with natural shade or water access. At Coral Pink Sand Dunes, "all of the campsites are within a reasonable distance to the bathrooms," but many dispersed sites offer "no shade, so might be hot in other months."

Wildlife awareness: Prepare children and supervise pets due to diverse wildlife. A Watchman camper warns, "This is cockroach county. They will come out en force immediately after sunset so plan to have all food and related items stored in something airtight by then. We sprayed the exterior of our tent with deep woods bug spray and that kept them off."

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: For optimal RV camping with pets, research site characteristics carefully. At Zion Canyon Campground, "the ones on the river had more privacy" while at Zion River Resort "the lots are huge. Very wide and with lovely grass and gravel. Everyone gets a grassy area. The concrete pad is very level."

Hookup accessibility: Check hookup placement before arrival. "I get so frustrated when parks put the water hookup really low to the ground and you can barely get your hose hooked up. No such issue here. Electric is great, as was sewer. Just want you want," notes a Zion River Resort visitor.

Size limitations: Many campgrounds have strict length restrictions. At South Campground, sites had "a 19 foot maximum vehicle length listed on recreation.gov," while at Sheep Bridge BLM Area, a reviewer observed "I did see some RVs near the highway, but no hookups or dump sites."
