This park offers water, electric, and sewer connections with both back-in and pull-through options for vehicles up to 40 feet. One visitor noted, "Very cramped spot. Fortunately, we arrived before neighbors on both side did. Neighbor on the right side was kind enough to put his awning in making our morning departure easier." Pet policies differ by location - most RV parks welcome pets with designated exercise areas, though tent campers at Lakeside are not permitted to bring animals. Winter operations continue at several parks despite Utah's seasonal conditions, with Pony Express and Mountain Shadows maintaining year-round availability.

    Mountain Shadows RV Park

    Perfect overnight stay for us

We are a 40 foot with a tow. We only stayed here over night as we were passing through. Place was clean, friendly staff, spacious sites, ours had nice grass, dog friendly. Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall. This would be a great long term or a it’s a very easy on off expressway stop. High recommend

    Canyon View RV Park

Just a parking lot, but in a beautiful park/awesome walk/bike trail!

First come, first serve, dump station on site(back of parking lot), friendly camphost; great access to an awesome bike/walk trail, close to town& Walmart

SITE: Water and Electricity only and all amenities worked great. All sites are back in and spaced in a large parking lot. Picnic table per site in the shade under the trees by your site; level site; all concrete; the sites are close together, but it wasn't full so the RVers thoughtfully spaced out from each other; full sun

CELL SERVICE: AT&T worked great- not all bars but it worked well for use working remote and no issues with video calls using our hotspot.

OTHER: Located on the edge of Canyon View Park. The park had just closed as they prep for their annual Christmas light show, but you could still walk on the trail through the park to access the main bike/walk trail which was awesome and goes on for many miles! We loved using this everyday we were there. Bathroom in the park was really clean. Dump station is in the parking lot(super convenient) on the back side. It was super gusty, windy at night and consistent every night from about 11pm- 10am. Maybe it's just seasonal? Make sure your awning is in!

Giant chessboard. Nice pool area. Amazing clubhouse with pool table, foosball, large TV, comfy chairs, guest kitchen area. Complimentary coffee, tea and fresh made cookies. Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Lodgepole Campground

Lodgepole Campground - Group Site B

Nice basic campground just coming out of Heber City, UT on your way to Strawberry Reservoir. This is a fairly large campground with numerous sites. The group site parking was shallow. We could barely fit our 19 ft travel trailer and our truck. Outside of the group site it appears there are deeper sites that could accommodate a long fifth wheel. Parking space is wide enough to park another car next to trailer. There are a few tent sites as around the group site pavilion.

No hookups for RV’s. Dump station on site for $10 fee. RV spots are back in only. There is running water and flushable toilets on site; however, the water line was under repair and not turned on during our stay. It sounds like the repairs have been going on for a long time.

There is cellular service, but it’s a little slow. I have sprint carrier and had service.

Negatives: The campground is close a highway incline/decline which is frequented by Semi’s which bring lots of noise to the campground throughout the day and into the night.

Stinging Nettle: lots of stinging nettle located around group site B, so stay on the paths as much as possible.

    Hill AFB FamCamp

    Cute little spot

Great amenities, dog park, showers, laundry. Stayed here long term a couple times and it’s always a great stay! Close to the park, splash pad, and track. Hosts are pleasant. A little close together but good for being on base.

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

Guide to Herriman

RV parks near Herriman, Utah provide essential amenities for travelers exploring the western Salt Lake Valley. Located at approximately 5,000 feet elevation, Herriman experiences hot, dry summers and cold winters with moderate snowfall. Camping options extend beyond those mentioned in the Herriman area, with several parks offering year-round accessibility despite Utah's seasonal temperature fluctuations.

What to do

Riverside trail access: At Riverside RV Resort in North Ogden, campers can enjoy direct access to walking trails along the Weber River. "There is a walking trail that runs along the Weber river and was so calm and peaceful," notes Amy H. The location provides opportunities for fishing and wading in shallow water areas.

Fishing opportunities: Echo Island RV Resort offers a small pond for children's fishing plus access to Echo Lake. "They had a small pond for kids to fish in, two swimming pools and two hot tubs, very clean and modern facilities, well maintained campsites with fire pit," reports Carlee G. The resort provides sports equipment and DVDs you can check out from their shop.

Winter recreation: Several RV parks near Herriman maintain year-round operation, providing access to nearby ski areas. The Ogden area resorts are approximately 45 minutes north of Herriman, while Park City destinations sit about 40 minutes east. "You can see some of the ski slopes from the park," mentions Jennifer H. about her stay at Park City RV Resort.

What campers like

Dog-friendly amenities: Multiple RV parks around Herriman feature specialized pet facilities. "Three dog parks and dog washing bay," reports Karencastle about Pony Express RV Resort. Dog areas typically include separate sections for large and small breeds with sufficient space for exercise.

Adults-only sections: Some larger resorts divide their facilities to accommodate different camping preferences. "There is a section that is for adults 21 and older where children are not allowed," notes Sheila B. about Mountain Valley RV Resort. This arrangement provides quieter areas for those seeking less activity.

Concrete pads with full hookups: Campers consistently mention the level concrete pads available at many parks. "Sites are asphalt and VERY long & level—with a strip of grass and some rock gravel," reports Rara B. Many sites include picnic tables and sufficient space for slide-outs, though proximity to neighbors varies significantly between parks.

What you should know

Freeway noise levels: Most RV parks in the greater Salt Lake area experience some highway noise. "There is a lot of noise from the interstate and the nearby Air Force base," Brian mentions about Riverside RV Resort. Sites farther from major roads generally provide quieter conditions.

Seasonal limitations: Lower elevation areas typically remain accessible year-round, while mountain parks have limited seasons. Canyon View RV Park costs $25-40 per night with water and electric hookups only. "Not a bad spot for an overnight. Only 2 other campers there so it was quiet," reports Ted A.

Reservation requirements: Summer weekends fill quickly at parks throughout the region. Echo Island RV Resort maintains 185 sites but reaches capacity during peak periods. "Reserved a few hours before arriving on a Sunday in June and there were plenty of spots," notes Mike A., suggesting weekdays offer better last-minute availability.

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability: Lakeside RV Campground in Provo provides swimming facilities during summer months. "Pool was very nice. Cute little store," mentions Denise P. The campground includes spacious pull-through sites with grass areas between spaces.

Playground access: Several parks feature dedicated children's areas with equipment and open spaces. "We liked our privacy when we camp and want to leave the city. However a great stop for a weekend getaway or someone passing through," explains Shariah T. about Mountain Valley RV Resort's playground and pool areas.

Security considerations: Gated entry systems operate at some facilities, providing additional security. "Very safe and nice spot to stay with kids. Gated entry is a plus for me, and the staff is so kind and welcoming," mentions Claire L. about her experience at Riverside RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Generator restrictions: Most established RV parks near Herriman prohibit generator use due to noise considerations. Full hookup sites with reliable 30 and 50-amp service eliminate the need in most cases. "Full hookup site with Good Sam was going to be $75/night selected a partial hookup (water/electric) site instead for $45/night," reports Abner H. about Mountain Shadows RV Park.

Laundry facilities: Several parks provide on-site laundry, though availability and machine quality vary. "The laundry facilities were nice and even had a designated machine for pet laundry," notes Chris G. about their experience at Mountain Valley RV Resort. Quarters may be required, and some parks lack change machines.

Site spacing considerations: Site separation differs significantly between parks. "I would say 75% or more of the spots are full time rv'ers. Mostly everyone is friendly, sites are clean, but kids and barking dogs everywhere! Spaces aren't as small as I feared they'd be after reading reviews," explains Amy about Pony Express RV Resort. Higher-end resorts typically provide more space between sites.
