    South Padre Island Beach is open to camping from Beach Access #5 and Beach Access #6 to any point north. During the on season Padre Island camping access by vehicle is $12 to enter, regardless of the length of stay. Offseason is free (from autumn until spring break). The first several miles are accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles and RV’s. Miles 5-24 usually accessible by 4x4 only. Fires, pets, and fishing are allowed. There are no amenities, cell service can be spotty, and it is recommended to be aware of tides and weather conditions. The beach is patrolled by beach patrol and sea turtle patrol, and it is a favorite destination for windsurfing and dolphin watching. There is a large dumpster at the beach access to empty trash on leaving, and showers/restrooms at Beach Access #5.

Easy walking distance to Riverside Park with a Frisbee golf course, hiking trails,boat ramp, and a covered pavilion. 26 pull-thru shaded sites with wi-fi and cable. Modern showers and laundry on the property. Kayak the Pecan Bayou with consistent year round water level for fishing or exploring. Groceries and dining are within walking distance with shopping and museums nearby. Lake Brownwood is a short 15-minute drive.

    Pitch a tent ⛺ anywhere on the 5 acres that have flat ground. There are several pine trees to help with shade and privacy. If your into hiking you can take a public access trail right from the property up to Mount Blanca which is at 14,300 ft and is the 4th largest mountains in Colorado! GO EXPLORE!!!

    Located at 8,300 ft. Elevation on the Southwestern corner of Mount Blanca, this is an unbelievable camping experience. There are immaculate views in every direction. To the north is is Mount Blanca. To the East is the San Juan Mountains. To the East is is the Sangre De Cristo's. To the South is the San Juan Valley! Hiking and nature and privacy like no other !!! 4 wheel drive vehicles preferred or 2 wheel drive with high clearance. Rocky road to climb to get here. There is a bathroom for emergency visits only in my RV!

    Overview

    Sowell Creek Park is nestled within the beautiful Cross Timbers Region of Texas and located on the east side of Proctor Lake. Sowell Creek appeals to sportsmen, birdwatchers, naturalists or those simply wanting to relax in the outdoors.

    Recreation

    Sowell Creek offers families and friends with an excellent venue to enjoy the outdoors. The park offers overnight camping as well as two day-use areas for picnicing and several swim beaches for folks to soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful lake water. Fishing is Proctor Lake's main attraction: anglers enjoy the lake's tremendous populations of Bass, Crappie, and Catfish. The lake is also recognized as one of the best Hybrid Striped Bass fishing areas in the state. Sowell Creek offers two boat ramps that provides guests with easy access to the lake. Also, two fishing docks are located within the park to provide guests with further fishing opportunities. High Point Park, located a few miles from Sowell Creek on FM 1496 (31.999944, -98.470486), offers more than 10 miles of hiking and equestrian trails.

    Facilities

    Sowell Creek offers 61 campsites and one group site during the summer (April - September); and 30 campsites during the winter (October - March). Campsites are equipped with electric hookups ranging from 50 amp, 30 amp, and 20 amp; water hookups; sewer hookups; and a covered picnic table. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station thus creating a comfortable camping environment for visitors.

    Natural Features

    Large, open grassy areas; Black Willow; and Buttonbush characterize the park:. Shade is sparse, but lake views are plentiful.
