Had a great 2 night stay. Sites are spread out. Good privacy. Restrooms are clean. Didn’t meet the host which seems unusual.
Beautiful campsite. The fort is very interesting. I was there on a re-enactment weekend and really enjoyed talking to all the re-enacters. A lot of great history. At night the coyotes sang me to sleep.
The park is far away from everywhere and offers a very quiet and peaceful experience. The rocks are spectacular as is the night sky. The visitor center appears to have limited hours so I had to go online to learn more. There are trails that take you up into the rocks and into the desert.
Stayed here for a long weekend in January 2024. Very quiet.
I stayed here one night on my way back to Dallas after viewing the eclipse in south Texas.
I stayed here for a few days during the eclipse. Good site but a little noisy.
Nice and quiet. Clean and well kept. Very nice campground host.
Enjoyed staying at this quiet campground. Clean and well kept. A very interesting National Monument.
This is a wonderful Forest Service campground. At a little over 9,000 feet elevation it cooled off nicely in July. Only a few sites occupied so it was very quiet. Standard Forest Service toilets were clean. No cell service but that was OK with me.
I arrived late on a Saturday evening and they were full but the very nice young lady at check in let me squeeze my little TAXA TigerMoth into a van/tent spot. I was very tired and very happy that they could accommodate me. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean. The store was well stocked. Except for an occasional jet taking off from the nearby airport it was nice and quiet. I slept great!
I stayed for four nights and really enjoyed it. The sites are large and fairly private. The restrooms could use some work but they do keep them clean. There are a lot of great hiking trails with wildlife including deer, coyotes, armadillos, and butterflies.
Not too bad for a City operated RV Park. It was quiet at night although the flood lights were a little annoying. My electricity did not work but they fixed it quickly. I thought it was $20 a night, but it turns out Friday and Saturday nights are $40 each. Bathroom was clean. The City of San Saba is very nice.
Very convenient state park. Very clean and well kept. Sound seems to carry so you can hear all the conversations in the campground.
The Gila cliff dwellings are awesome. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive in from Silver City. The Upper Scorpion campground is really a parking lot with nearby tent sites. Campers park in the lot. With that said I was the only occupant of the campground. It was very quiet with a spectacular night sky. The Lower Scorpion campground is the same. The host was very friendly and helpful. No services except pit toilets.
As other reviewers have noted, the RV sites are basically a parking lot. I was able to get one on the outskirts so I had stunning views. The tent sites appear to be spaced nicely. All sites require reservations. The visitor center and trailhead rangers were very friendly and helpful. This is very wild Texas.
The sites are nice for this kind of place. A little bit pricey but I wanted electricity to run my AC in my Tiger Moth. The staff is very friendly and gave me a cookie at check in. The bathroom is OK but two of the three men’s toilets were out of order. One sink was not working either. Good place to stop for an overnight.
Very well kept campground. Toilets and site were clean. The park is spectacular.
This campground is located in a basin of very colorful cliffs. Unfortunately it rained on and off when I was there. I suspect the sunrises would be stunning. Camp site and toilets were clean and well kept.
Beautiful well kept campground. Nearby highway is a little noisy. Friendly campground host.
This is one of the best maintained campgrounds I have stayed at in recent years. New tables and shelters. Some sites have electricity and some even have telescope pads. All have a great fire pit. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The best part was the incredible night sky full of stars and the milky way. I had a very peaceful and restful night. I’ll be stopping here again.
