Rockport RV accommodations range from compact parks to sprawling coastal resorts with full hookups. Coastal Hideaway RV Park provides concrete pads for larger motorhomes with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort offers year-round availability with both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups in a beachfront setting. Port A RV Resort features pull-through sites with fire rings, though several reviews note the resort has undergone management changes affecting amenities and pricing. Most Rockport area RV parks maintain paved interior roads suitable for larger motorhomes, though some sites can flood during heavy rainfall. The eastern portions of Wilderness Oaks RV Resort experience drainage problems that can temporarily trap larger rigs during storms. Airport proximity affects noise levels at several parks. Many resorts offer amenities including laundry facilities, swimming pools, and fishing access. Cell service remains reliable throughout the region, with Verizon providing better coverage than park WiFi at most locations. Pet policies vary significantly—Bayview RV Resort and Enchanted Oaks welcome pets, while Blue Lagoon prohibits them entirely. Dump stations are available at Coastal Hideaway and Port A RV Resort, though not all parks provide this service. During winter months, advance reservations become essential as the area attracts seasonal visitors.

    Goose Island State Park Campground

    Right on the Bay

We stayed 14 nights in one of the Bay sites. Really enjoyed the view and sunsets. We watched Dolphins right in front of us every day. Pros: Bayfront site's view, easy in and out, easy set up, fishing, close to stores and restaurants, nice pavillion with picnic table at each site, Nice dock to fish off of and can fish right at your site. Clean restrooms. Pet friendly with 6ft leash rule. Cons: TTs and 5th wheels are supposed to back in. This causes the pavillion to be on the wrong side. You open your door to your neighbors pavillion. Motorhomes, Cs & Bs can pull in so the pavillion is on the correct side however the W&E hookups are then on the wrong side. (They are working to fix this issue) Wooded section is not big rig friendly. Low hanging branches and many sites difficult to back in to. (We didn't stay in this section, we drove through without 5th wheel) The air boats. There are 3-5 different ones that come in and out ALL day every day starting around 6:30am. They are so loud they vibrate the campers.

    Wilderness Oaks RV Resort

Okay but next to airport with poor park drainage

The previous reviewer is correct about the airport noise.

    Pros:

    • Our RV site was a back-in with plenty of room on a concrete pad with a picnic table. We were in the back row.

    • Our site did not have trees hanging over like a lot of sites (we have solar panels).

    Cons:

    • The campground wifi sucked. We relied more on our own Verizon wifi hotspot (we never assume park wifi is good).

    • Next to airport.

    • RV park, especially on eastern half, has seriously poor drainage. We were trapped in our RV lot, unable to leave, because the water was too deep for our Class A to go through without damage/mess of some sort.

    NAS RV Park Corpus Christi

Nice Mil CG just prepare for stay

This is our 2nd time staying here.
This park is aka Shields. Park has 2 sections. Sect A has grass sites. Sect B has concrete pads and a separate area for tents. Each section has a laundry room and shower building. We stayed in B. Sites are wide and level and have full hookups with 30/50 amp. Good water pressure. Sites are all back ins, Big rig friendly and easy to set up. No matter where you park there is a nice view of the Bay.
I'd give it a 5 star rating but there are a few items that need to be fixed or prepared for. 1st the roads really need to be repaired. Potholes are horrible in some areas. 2nd the picnic tables are so rusted through that many are unusable. 3rd the goat heads or grass burrs are a nightmare especially if you step on one in the middle of the night. Ouch!! LOL If you have dogs (we do) they absolutely can't run in the grass. We bought our pups doggy boots which help some. And this time we brought our leaf blower to blow them off the concrete pad. 4th the winds here can reach 60 mph. Just prepare for it by never leaving awnings out and when bad bring slides in so awning toppers don't get ripped off. (It happened to our neighbors last year) Ants, there are tons of them. I use citronella spray around our leveling gear and tires to deter them from living with us. Lastly if you don't want salt on your rigs don't come here. There are times when its so thick you could use an ice scraper.
Even with those items we really like it here. You can't beat the location to Padre Island and Port Aransas. The sunsets are amazing and walking the private beach daily is never tiring.

    Taylor Oaks RV Park

Not my favorite way to camp but the price was right

Not my favorite way to camp, but the price was right. We were pretty cramped but the whole place was very quiet. There weren't any kids at all, other than ours. Dog friendly environment but none running loose at all. There was a friendly peacock wandering about who loved grapes.

    Easy parking, pull through spots.

The laundry room was very clean which was much appreciated. $1.75 per washer & dryer.

We were parked right across from the owners/manager which was fine, just felt a bit like we were watched. Mind you, we're used to being in the middle of no where though😂. Owners helped us park and have been super friendly the whole time.

There's a small dog park across from the rv park, which was full of burrs and mosquitoes unfortunately. Apparently they are both bad this year.

It was only 0.4 miles to the water and 1 mile to rockport beach- we biked and walked.. it was a nice area to explore. Photo is from rockport beach taken in November.

    Port A RV Resort

    Learning to be retired

We retired and our first stay has been at Port A RV resort. Very friendly staff and guests. We already feel as though we have been doing this for a long time. Lots of neighbor activities and pet friendly too. 2 pools, a hot tub, several gathering spots, laundry, palm trees... just feels like home.

    Tropic Island Resort

    Great location

The great location. My family and me have stayed here a number of times It's less than a mile to the beach. All the stores and restaurants are all close. Full hook ups along with a sewer. Like any RV park, the spots are close together and tight. They have some pull through, but most are back in.

    Pioneer Beach Resort

Been making an annual trip with a growing friends group for years

A friend and I, along with our families have been making an annual trip to Pioneer for a few years now and only bad part is when it's time to leave. We always book the buddy site that is pull-through and has our campers facing each other with a common space outside our front doors. This also helps with shade when we put out our awnings and have plenty of room for everyone to relax in the shade. The pools, and multiple rec rooms are always clean and in great shape. There is a pen for dogs to play and easy boardwalk access to the beach through the dunes. People are great and a fun family atmosphere

Guide to Rockport

Rockport, Texas camping areas sit within the central Texas Coastal Bend, protected by barrier islands from the Gulf of Mexico. The region's mild climate makes camping possible year-round, though summer humidity reaches 80-90%. Winter temperatures rarely drop below 40°F, allowing extended camping seasons compared to northern Texas destinations.

What to do

Birding opportunities: The coastal area attracts diverse bird species. At Enchanted Oaks RV Park, visitors appreciate natural surroundings for wildlife viewing. "Loved the layout. Lots of natural privacy provided by the vegetation, and very friendly and quiet community," notes Elizabeth N.

Beach access: Many campers visit for easy shore access. The Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort offers beach proximity via a dedicated walkway. "We enjoyed the nice walk, up and over the dunes on the boardwalk, right onto the beach," shares Kenneth S., who stayed in a 34-foot travel trailer.

Local exploration: Rockport serves as a base for exploring nearby coastal towns. "Easy access to Rockport and Aransas Pass Texas. Only 10 minutes from Port Aransas Texas," reports a Coastal H. review. The central location allows visitors to explore multiple coastal communities within short driving distances.

What campers like

Site spacing: Many Rockport area campgrounds offer well-separated sites. At Enchanted Oaks, visitors mention the "large lots" and how the "vegetation" creates "natural privacy" between camping spots, making it feel less crowded than typical RV parks.

Year-round availability: The moderate climate permits camping throughout all seasons. According to one camper at Aransas Pass RV & Storage, "We had a fantastic stay at Aransas Pass RV Park! The location is incredibly convenient—just a 5-minute drive to H-E-B and Walmart, which made stocking up a breeze."

Concrete pads: Level, stable parking surfaces appear consistently in positive reviews. "Nice, long, level concrete pads, well-maintained hookups," mentions Marianne G., who extended an initial three-night stay to eight nights at Enchanted Oaks RV Park.

What you should know

Airport proximity: Several Rockport camping areas sit near small airports. At Wilderness Oaks RV Resort, one camper noted "It is an Airport near here, and they take off every 3 to 5 minutes!" This noise factor affects the camping experience at multiple locations.

Drainage issues: Heavy rainfall can create mobility problems. "RV park, especially on eastern half, has seriously poor drainage. We were trapped in our RV lot, unable to leave, because the water was too deep for our Class A to go through without damage," reports Rachel H. about Wilderness Oaks.

Variable deposit policies: Refund practices differ between facilities. One camper at Bayview RV Resort stated, "Been trying for two months to get my deposit refunded. When I call they just give me the run around," suggesting caution with payment methods.

Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Several campgrounds maintain swimming pools for family recreation. Port A RV Resort receives consistent praise for its aquatic amenities: "They have 2 wonderful swimming pools that are heated, yes I said heated. Perfect for the winter Texans, or people like us that just love to go camping year round."

Bicycle-friendly areas: Some locations offer safe cycling access to nearby attractions. Sheila B. notes about Port A RV Resort: "We typically ride our bicycles around to eat, sightsee, or just enjoy the island... My husband and I love to ride our bike to town on the nice wide sidewalks (that are labeled for bikes or walking)."

Storage options: For extended stays, consider facilities with additional storage. At Aransas Pass RV & Storage, visitors mention "They also have self-storage on site, with a discount for guests," making it convenient for families with recreational equipment.

Tips from RVers

Monthly rates: For longer visits, investigate monthly payment options. According to Edward L. at Reel Chill RV Resort, the area offers "$300/Month rent, Wi-Fi, and all utilities included!" This represents significant savings compared to daily or weekly rates.

Wildlife considerations: The coastal environment brings wildlife interactions. At Enchanted Oaks, one reviewer advises: "Note: this is inland from Rockport beach, so there were plenty of mosquitoes in July. So, bring some bug spray. Say hello to Mr. Raccoon in the dumpster if you go."

Site selection strategy: Request specific sites based on personal preferences. Mike K. shares his approach at Enchanted Oaks: "We requested a site far from the highway to get away from the traffic noise." Many RV campgrounds in Rockport, Texas allow such requests when booking.
