    Goose Island State Park Campground

    Right on the Bay

We stayed 14 nights in one of the Bay sites. Really enjoyed the view and sunsets. We watched Dolphins right in front of us every day. Pros: Bayfront site's view, easy in and out, easy set up, fishing, close to stores and restaurants, nice pavillion with picnic table at each site, Nice dock to fish off of and can fish right at your site. Clean restrooms. Pet friendly with 6ft leash rule. Cons: TTs and 5th wheels are supposed to back in. This causes the pavillion to be on the wrong side. You open your door to your neighbors pavillion. Motorhomes, Cs & Bs can pull in so the pavillion is on the correct side however the W&E hookups are then on the wrong side. (They are working to fix this issue) Wooded section is not big rig friendly. Low hanging branches and many sites difficult to back in to. (We didn't stay in this section, we drove through without 5th wheel) The air boats. There are 3-5 different ones that come in and out ALL day every day starting around 6:30am. They are so loud they vibrate the campers.

Okay but next to airport with poor park drainage

The previous reviewer is correct about the airport noise.

    Pros:

    • Our RV site was a back-in with plenty of room on a concrete pad with a picnic table. We were in the back row.

    • Our site did not have trees hanging over like a lot of sites (we have solar panels).

    Cons:

    • The campground wifi sucked. We relied more on our own Verizon wifi hotspot (we never assume park wifi is good).

    • Next to airport.

    • RV park, especially on eastern half, has seriously poor drainage. We were trapped in our RV lot, unable to leave, because the water was too deep for our Class A to go through without damage/mess of some sort.

    NAS RV Park Corpus Christi

Nice Mil CG just prepare for stay

This is our 2nd time staying here.
This park is aka Shields. Park has 2 sections. Sect A has grass sites. Sect B has concrete pads and a separate area for tents. Each section has a laundry room and shower building. We stayed in B. Sites are wide and level and have full hookups with 30/50 amp. Good water pressure. Sites are all back ins, Big rig friendly and easy to set up. No matter where you park there is a nice view of the Bay.
I'd give it a 5 star rating but there are a few items that need to be fixed or prepared for. 1st the roads really need to be repaired. Potholes are horrible in some areas. 2nd the picnic tables are so rusted through that many are unusable. 3rd the goat heads or grass burrs are a nightmare especially if you step on one in the middle of the night. Ouch!! LOL If you have dogs (we do) they absolutely can't run in the grass. We bought our pups doggy boots which help some. And this time we brought our leaf blower to blow them off the concrete pad. 4th the winds here can reach 60 mph. Just prepare for it by never leaving awnings out and when bad bring slides in so awning toppers don't get ripped off. (It happened to our neighbors last year) Ants, there are tons of them. I use citronella spray around our leveling gear and tires to deter them from living with us. Lastly if you don't want salt on your rigs don't come here. There are times when its so thick you could use an ice scraper.
Even with those items we really like it here. You can't beat the location to Padre Island and Port Aransas. The sunsets are amazing and walking the private beach daily is never tiring.

    Learning to be retired

We retired and our first stay has been at Port A RV resort. Very friendly staff and guests. We already feel as though we have been doing this for a long time. Lots of neighbor activities and pet friendly too. 2 pools, a hot tub, several gathering spots, laundry, palm trees... just feels like home.

    Great location

The great location. My family and me have stayed here a number of times It's less than a mile to the beach. All the stores and restaurants are all close. Full hook ups along with a sewer. Like any RV park, the spots are close together and tight. They have some pull through, but most are back in.

    Pioneer Beach Resort

Been making an annual trip with a growing friends group for years

A friend and I, along with our families have been making an annual trip to Pioneer for a few years now and only bad part is when it's time to leave. We always book the buddy site that is pull-through and has our campers facing each other with a common space outside our front doors. This also helps with shade when we put out our awnings and have plenty of room for everyone to relax in the shade. The pools, and multiple rec rooms are always clean and in great shape. There is a pen for dogs to play and easy boardwalk access to the beach through the dunes. People are great and a fun family atmosphere

    5601 TX-361, Port Aransas, TX 78373

We stayed here 16 days in a 34 ft. Travel Trailer. Our site had an outdoor kitchen, cement picnic table and benches and a lovely palapa. The resort grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. There is a pool, hot tub, showers and gorgeous private beach. The sites are each individually owned and decorated. We enjoyed the nice walk, up and over the dunes on the boardwalk, right onto the beach.

Staff was super courteous and helpful. Grounds were kept clean.
Great location, located between Corpus Christi& Port Aransas.

I can’t say enough about this amazing experience. We will be back! Excellently maintained RV resort!

    Convenient Location and Nice Amenities

We’ll maintained park within walking distance to marina and great restaurants. Sites have concrete pads and picnic tables. Plenty long, but very close together. Nice landscaping and great pool and hot tubs. Shower house is super clean and so is laundry. You can rent golf carts here for $100 (24 hours). A short drive to the beach.

Guide to Ingleside

Camping near Ingleside, Texas offers direct access to coastal wetlands with average summer temperatures reaching 93°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 45°F. The region experiences consistent Gulf breezes, which can reach up to 60 mph during storm seasons. Most RV sites near Ingleside, Texas provide concrete pads for leveling due to the sandy coastal terrain.

What to do

Fishing from private piers: At Sea Breeze RV Community Resort, campers can fish directly from the property. "Facilities include fishing pier and swimming pool. Family friendly medium priced. Horseshoes, pet run, Wi Fi included," notes reviewer Pamela M.

Beach access with golf carts: Pioneer Beach Resort provides direct beach access via boardwalk. "The best part is the boardwalk to the beach where you can drive over with your golf cart and get to the town via the beach access roads," shares Nicole K. The resort is situated on a quieter stretch of coastline away from heavy tourist traffic.

Nature sanctuary viewing: Some camping spots at Port A RV Resort back up to Charlie's Pasture wildlife refuge. "We try to get a site on the back row, that backs up to Charlie's Pasture a wildlife refuge. We have stayed at Port A RV several time and have had a blast each time," recommends Sheila C. This location allows for sunset viewing and wildlife observation.

What campers like

Individually owned sites with amenities: Gulf Waters RV Resort features privately owned sites with custom upgrades. "Sites are privately owned and owners build their own character. We have stayed twice and will be back again. Our sites both had outdoor cooking areas with a tiki hut like structure to protect from rain and sun. Really awesome," explains Andrew.

Heated pools for winter use: Several resorts maintain heated swimming pools for year-round use. "They have 2 wonderful swimming pools that are heated, yes I said heated. Perfect for the winter Texans, or people like us that just love to go camping year round," says Sheila C. about Port A RV Resort.

Concrete pads and site spacing: Southern Oaks Luxury RV Park offers larger than average site spacing. "The roads and pads were all nice, level concrete. The grass and trees were clean and trimmed," notes Clayton R., adding "there are stickers in the grass, so beware stepping off the concrete pad barefoot."

What you should know

Wind conditions: The coastal location means consistent winds that intensify during storms. "The winds here can reach 60 mph. Just prepare for it by never leaving awnings out," cautions one reviewer.

Backing challenges: Many sites require careful maneuvering. As one camper at Port A RV Resort notes, "The only downside to the park, is the small cramped sites. But in Port A they are pretty much all like that."

Beach proximity varies: On The Beach RV Park lives up to its name with genuine beach access. "When they say 'On The Beach' they mean it. Nice staff and cool amenities. 50 yards from campsite to beach area. Easy access," reports Patrick H. This park provides significantly closer beach access than others in the area.

Fire ant precautions: Coastal camping areas have fire ant issues. "The ants are terrible. We ended up having an infestation of fire ants in our water bay that we're currently trying to get rid of. There are ants all over the park. Be careful where you step and bring diatomaceous earth and fire ant killer to sprinkle around," warns Steph H.

Tips for camping with families

Beach buggy rentals: Renting beach transportation enhances family outings. "Rent a beach buggy and have a blast!" suggests Brenda A. about visiting Gulf Waters RV Resort.

Playground availability: Some resorts have multiple play areas for children. At Southern Oaks, "The playgrounds were nice, but could use some more shade," according to Clayton R.

Sand castle lessons: Tropic Island Resort provides convenient access to family activities. "Plan to rent a golf cart and take the sand castle lessons, very fun!!!" recommends Ronnie D. who stayed at a nearby resort. The resort is "centrally located to everything! Restaurants, bars and beaches are all very close," adds Kelly F.

Pool restrictions: Check for adult-only swim times before planning pool activities. "Adults only in the swimming pool in the morning, makes it tough when you have young kids that take naps in the afternoon for them to go swimming," notes Carrie about Southern Oaks Luxury RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection for privacy: Choose sites adjacent to natural areas when possible. "Our site overlooked a nature sanctuary which gave us a nice private place to view the sun set," shares Holly D. about Port A RV Resort.

Electric costs for extended stays: Monthly renters should budget for separate electricity charges. "Charge $150 deposit because they charge weekly stays their portion of electricity also beyond weekly fee," explains Carrie about Southern Oaks Luxury RV Resort.

Insect preparation: Pack additional mosquito protection beyond standard repellent. "Due to the location though, bring bug spray! We got eaten up by the mosquitoes even with bug spray - they are huge and there's a ton of them!" warns Steph H.

Reservation timing: Most RV campgrounds near Ingleside require substantial advance booking, especially for winter months when "Winter Texans" occupy many sites for extended stays.
