Great

Started our full time RV trip here in Asheville NC. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Loved the walking trail for our service dog to walk with. Goff family

Shhh, secret sweet spot…

Access is rough, (moderate clearance vehicles required). Also, as courtesy - cruise the bridge and see if people are down there first, (both sides).

Sweet backcountry spot! Nice gurgling stream and hiking trails.

Nice Campground

Well maintained campground, with pretty views. Campsites are often uneven with alot of tree roots running throughout. It does require consideration before parking your trailer or RV.

Everything you want in a state park

What a lovely, relaxing park. There is an area for day-use people, with boat rentals, a small swimming area, and playgrounds (including mini golf!).

As for camping, you have two options: a large drive-in section (each with electric and water), some near the lake, some more forested, and some…

Primitive site with rough access

This camping site is unmarked and almost literally under a bridge. There's a pull-off to either side of the structure, which quickly goes from asphalt to a very uneven dirt road which had been graveled long ago, snaking down to the river. My small car had difficulty getting down it and the drop-off…

  • You can walk right down to the river, which might be a problem if it floods.

Nice Sites

Campgrounds were easy to access on gravel and paved roads. Quiet and secluded but other campers are around. There are toilet facilities but can’t remember if there was a water tap. Sites are close to a few trails and close to a nice iron bridge crossing the Chattooga River. Definitely recommend…

Right by the ding dang highway, but the folks were nice!

This is definitely a spot for folks who want to camp for cheap and spend their time NOT IN THE CAMPGROUND. Go explore Asheville!

This location is separated from a major highway only by 40 feet or so, so there was constant car noise. Their tent camping has little to no tree cover so we were…

Good for all ages!

Camp site was very clean and well taken care of on arrival. Mark and Esther were always available if any questions arose and were also very helpful with things around the area to do that were both for experienced hikers and for those with kids. WiFi was perfect near the parking lot. Bathrooms and…

Serene

This was our first visit to this campground and we loved it! We were in the area for a golf tournament. Sites are spacious and fairly level. There are options for folks who don’t have an RV: yurts, tiny houses, vintage trailers, and small cabins. Staff is very friendly and there’s lots for kids to…

Favorite Campground

Had to take the long road to get home and did not waste an opportunity to stay at my favorite campground. As a walk in you pay $20/night for an available non-reservable campsite. C Loop has showers and D Loop does not. Bears were active but did not bother me in the least. I could hear them turning…

Lake Hartwell State Ark

The park has a lot of potential. Road maintenance is not being done. Definitely needs some electrical work. Ours kept throwing breakers whenever someone new hooked up down the circuit. Cleaning is slack, it’s a shame really.

The Magic

This was the most friendly campground Ive ever visited. They have locked gate from 10PM till morning, so felt very safe. The staff could not be friendlier! I really felt safe and the site was exceptional. Private access to waterway. If you need any help, just ask gate personel. I needed repair on…
