Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Inman, SC

Pine Ridge Campground accommodates tent, RV, cabin, and glamping campers with pets. Owners maintain a clean, family-oriented environment where pets must be leashed at all times. The campground's bath houses are meticulously maintained with combination locks for security, and the pet policy is strictly enforced throughout the property. GSP RV Park features a spacious dog park with fresh gravel in the camping spots and a fire pit area with string lights, creating a pleasant environment for pets and their owners. Croft State Park Campground permits pets but requires them to be kept under control, with designated walking areas available. The park is located on a lake with miles of trails suitable for pets, though some visitors note the gravel surfaces at tent sites can be uncomfortable for dogs during hot weather.

Trails throughout the camping areas provide ample opportunity for dog exercise, with Croft State Park offering extensive hiking, biking, and horseback riding paths where leashed pets are welcome. The sites at Pine Ridge allow easy access to pet exercise areas, with staff described as helpful and responsive to camper needs via text or in person at the office. Many campgrounds near Inman have access to water features where dogs can cool off during hot South Carolina summers, though owners should be aware of potential wildlife encounters. The bathhouses at most pet-friendly campgrounds are regularly cleaned, important for pet owners needing to wash up after outdoor activities. Paris Mountain State Park and Table Rock State Park also welcome pets, providing additional options for camping with animals within driving distance of Inman.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

    Awesome for dogs and people!

We camped here back in August and had a blast! We brought our two dogs and they also had a great time. This site is very dog friendly (obviously), with many sites having their own fenced in yards. We opted for a site without a fence, which we regretted once we got there. The gravel at our site was painful for our dog’s feet and they had a hard time walking on it. The dog parks made up for this! There are multiple large dog parks located at the campground. The restrooms were awesome, but are single person use only. We felt like we were the only ones using them (that’s how well maintained they were). Campsites are close together but we didn’t mind. The staff was great, they helped us find our site and even helped us back our camper in. There was power and water hookup at each site. There is tons of stuff to do around the area too. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure are right around the corner and SO FUN.

    Bent River Equestrian

Great camping near mountain biking and hiking

Great place to spend a couple of nights. Went over Labor Day weekend with 5 or 6 other groups and still felt like we had full privacy. Fire pits, an outdoor shower, and a porta-potty. Cute horses and barn cats to pet and watch

    Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground

Not quite great for a senior

Great and clean unless you have a very active dog and you're sorta out of shape. Their dog park extremely small and hilly and has holes you need to watch. The yellow jackets were terrible and I got stung while just sitting at our site. Also a hike to take garbage to their dumpster. Some sort of pickup or maybe bear proof cans half way point, also more flat area for dog walks. If they would take in some of the area around the horse shoe area that would help too .

    Travelers Rest-North Greenville KOA

    Ranger Review: Travelers Rest KOA

Very pretty campground in the fall. Operators live onsite and were friendly. Full connections and no issues leveling. Easy in/out and close to Greenville, Paris Mountain, Travelers Rest, Swamp Rabbit Trail etc. Bathhouses were very clean, but the lights are on motion detectors which weren’t sensitive enough to pick you up in the shower. We both had a couple moments of total darkness to contend with. A camp cat hung around our site at times and loved the heat coming out of our furnace. We don’t have pets so didn’t mind. Cell coverage was great (att & Verizon), so we had no issues working our 9-5s. Love the bubbling creek next to our site, which was so pretty from our back window. We’d definitely stay again.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

Amazing Campground for Pups and Adults

We visited this park a few weeks ago and wished we could have stayed longer! It's a well-kept, clean park within approximately half an hour from Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed). It is an adult only campground that is dog-centric... For us the best of both worlds! Includes several dog parks for large and small breads, and a pond in which the pups can swim and splash around. We've never been to a park like this one and highly recommend it if you can get in. We'll be back for sure!

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

    Glamping with your pups

This place was a 13 hour drive and so worth it. All of the cabins and trailers available to rent are so reasonably priced and have AC and fully fucntioning appliances. Every cabin or RV rental has its own private gated yard with your own firepit. Several dog parks and a private pond for the pups means days of fun for an active, social dog. Everyone is so kind, the women who run this place are so sweet and they were incredibly accomodating. The camp store has tons of treats and necessities for dogs and people, and a dog washing station and laundry are available communally. We spent our days hiking the nearby Chimney Rock and hanging around Lake Lure (FYI Dirty Dancing was filmed here whoa). We also checked out the Equestrian center which was an awesome recommendation of the staff and also dog friendly. Definitely recommended for people who like day hikes and adventures and coming back to a cozy camp cabin.

    Spacious Skies Peach Haven

    Awesome Visit & Stay

We love this campground and can not wait to go back. It is in a great location and has a great staff. The cleanest campground we’ve stayed at: laundry room, bathhouse, etc. Awesome play ground for all ages of children, two dog parks, ponds, level sites, etc. We stayed in March so the pool was not open but looking forward to visiting again soon.

    Mountain Stream RV Park

    Small, beautiful campgroud

Really beautiful spot. It's one small loop with around 30 sites, as well as 3 luxury yurts. Very level w/ nice gravel, fire pits & picnic tables. A nice big creek runs behind most of the campsites. There's a playground for the kids and a little fenced in dog park, too (it even has a nice dog wash station!). Beautifully landscaped with lots of flowers, bird feeders and little white lights at night. The bathhouse was clean and there's a nice picnic shelter. The camp store has basic necessities (even local, fresh eggs). Blue Ridge Parkway isn't far. We recommend the hike to Crabtree Falls! Only con is that the sites are very close together.

Guide to Inman

Cabin camping options near Inman, South Carolina range in elevation from 800 to 1,500 feet above sea level, offering moderate temperatures even during summer months. Most cabin facilities in this region of the Piedmont are situated within driving distance of either the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north or the lakes and rivers that characterize the area. Cabins typically book 2-3 months in advance for summer and fall weekends.

What to do

Hiking and biking trails: Paris Mountain State Park Campground offers trails for all experience levels. "Paris mountain is a personal favorite of mine and take any chance to go. This is a great dog friendly park with clean trails, plenty of parking, and friendly staff. Now is the time to go as it is less crowded and and the leaves are changing color," notes reviewer Maddi P.

Fishing and boating: Orchard Lake Campground provides on-site pond access. "We went kayaking and swimming daily. There is a slide in the middle of the pond that my son loved. When it rained the game room had a movie on and lots to do inside," reports Amanda M. The campground offers complimentary kayak and canoe use.

Horseback riding: Equestrian visitors have specialized facilities at Croft State Park Campground. "Perfect for equestrian as most of the trails are horse friendly and there is a large arena free to use. The barn is clean as well and provides stall shavings for a small fee," explains Maddi P. Trail riders can access miles of designated horse trails throughout the park.

What campers like

Clean bathhouse facilities: Pine Ridge Campground maintains exceptional standards. "Beautiful restrooms kept clean and had a combination lock on them. Will definitely stay there again when in the area," states Mary C. The bathhouse security features provide peace of mind for families and solo travelers.

Seasonal activities: Emberglow Outdoor Resort offers structured programming. "Emberglow hosted a 5K. It was a great time. Great family campground. All camping sites are gravel so make sure you have some leveling blocks," says Jeremy D. Other seasonal events include weekend bands and food trucks during summer months.

Diverse accommodation options: Beyond traditional sites, several dog friendly campgrounds near Inman feature unique lodging. "Around the corner from the tents are several vintage RVs, many from the 50s, that have been completely renovated with beautiful interiors and modern updates. They each have their own deck, fire pit, and grill," describes Zach H. at Emberglow Outdoor Resort.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the mountain foothills require preparation for uneven terrain. "Liked the campground. No amenities per day except bathroom/showers. Nice large sites but very unlevel due to mountain side. Would not stay again because we were so unlevel our refrigerator wouldn't work," cautions Cindy R. about Paris Mountain State Park Campground.

Seasonal availability: Several campgrounds limit operations. Davidson River Campground operates from "March 15 - November 1," according to their website. Always check schedules before planning trips during shoulder seasons.

Reservation requirements: Most pet-friendly sites require advance planning. "Book these early - we were here in late June and they were already full until October!" advises Zach H. about specialty accommodations at Emberglow Outdoor Resort.

Internet connectivity: Remote locations mean variable service. "The wifi is off the charts for a campground. Total coverage everywhere you go. I was getting 30/30 speeds at my site," reports Zach H. about Emberglow, though this level of service is not standard at most campgrounds near Inman.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Table Rock State Park Campground offers natural swimming. "This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. In the park, you can swim, hike, camp, fish and kayak. You will see some excellent views of the mountain ranges. We saw deer, squirrels, birds, snakes, and many salamanders," describes John B.

Playground facilities: Look for campgrounds with dedicated play areas. "Just spent the weekend here and loved it! Great place for kids with jump pad, swingset, slides, climbing dome, pool, a creek to explore, hiking trails, and more!" recommends Stacey about Emberglow Outdoor Resort.

Weather considerations: Mountain elevation can mean temperature fluctuations. "You must plan your adventure carefully to avoid crowds," suggests Maddi P. about Table Rock State Park Campground. Summer afternoon thunderstorms are common in this region, so bring rain gear.

Tips from RVers

Site selection guidance: Spacious Skies Peach Haven (formerly KOA) provides varied options. "I love this place, with nice wide sites and many with views of three ponds nestled in the woods. The place was squeaky clean and the bathhouse very well designed," states Ann B. Sites 60-75 offer the best pond views.

Hookup quality matters: Check reviews for recent infrastructure reports. "The electrical hookup was a little sketchy. It appears they updated an old electrical box with a new 50-amp outlet and taped the other one shut so you could not open it," warns Nancy W. about Cunningham RV Park.

Road navigation challenges: Some dog-friendly campgrounds near Inman have entrance constraints. "The road through the park back to the campground is pretty narrow at some points - we don't know how we would have managed if we had met another RV! We have a 31' Class A and we managed fine, but I did hear some people with larger trailers having a harder time," shares Bounding Around about Paris Mountain State Park Campground.
