Campgrounds near Glenmoore, Pennsylvania provide a mix of state park and private camping facilities within the rolling hills of Chester and Berks counties. French Creek State Park Campground offers a substantial developed camping area with options for tent camping, RV sites with hookups, and cabin accommodations across multiple loops. Several private campgrounds like Lake-in-Wood Campground and Philadelphia-West Chester KOA expand the range of options with additional amenities. The camping landscape includes both wooded settings and more open areas, typically within 10-15 miles of Glenmoore proper, with most facilities concentrated along the Route 23 corridor and surrounding natural areas.

Many campgrounds in this region operate seasonally, with peak availability from April through October. Hibernia County Park, a rustic camping option near Coatesville, offers tent and small RV camping from May to October with limited amenities. Full-service private campgrounds generally open earlier in spring and stay open later into fall, but advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends and holidays. The terrain varies from flat, developed campsites to more wooded settings with moderate privacy between sites. Weather considerations include occasional summer thunderstorms and cooler spring and fall temperatures. As one camper noted, "French Creek is a beautiful park with lots to do like boating, hiking, swimming, and disk golf. Unfortunately the campsites are really close together not allowing for much privacy."

Recreational amenities consistently rate as highlights at campgrounds in this area. French Creek State Park features extensive hiking trails, lakes for fishing and boating, and a swimming pool that operates during summer months. Several visitors emphasized the variety of outdoor activities available, particularly for families. The private campgrounds often provide additional amenities like camp stores, organized activities, and more extensive hookup options for RVs. Many campers cited the convenient location relative to attractions in southeastern Pennsylvania as a benefit. A recent review mentioned that Hibernia County Park offers "quiet walking trails" and is "great for families," highlighting the park's clean facilities and peaceful atmosphere despite its rustic nature. Mixed-use campgrounds with both developed sites and more natural settings appear to be particularly popular with families seeking varied camping experiences.

      Tohickon Family Campground

      Simple, peaceful FHU

We stayed just a couple nights here on our way north. The camp host was helpful before our stay and during check-in. Our site was pretty isolated from the others, so it was very quiet (no complaints here). There is a decent mix of sunny sites by the river and shady sites under the trees. The weather was perfect mid September. There wasn't anything spectacular for me, but it was a good experience and it was a nice taste of fall PA scenery. Beware that the roads are tight for a big rig. Side note, it did seem like most campers lived there.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

      Bake Oven Knob

      Quiet after 10

I got there late in the afternoon and the place remained busy with people coming and going until well after dark. By 10, it finally settled down and no one bothered me the rest of the night.

      Tohickon Valley County Park

      First time camping

As far as experience it was good. The main issue was the campsite where we were was uneven and caused many of the sleeping arrangements that we had to be not level. This seems to be a specific issue to the group campsite number two as when we went inwards it seemed like everything else was much better.

      Lums Pond State Park Campground

      Lums Pond campground

First time at this campground really like it a lot will be returning. The bathrooms are always clean. The grounds are always kept up. Just a really nice place to stay. Most of the sites have some kind of shade.

      Birchview Campground

Quiet Getaway close to home for us

Mary & her crew run a great campground. Full hookup. Slow schedule during the week-camp store & pool mainly. Saturdays always have activities planned from bingo to quarter auctions, picnics & music. Each Saturday is different. Clean grounds. Nice playgrounds. Kiddie pool & nice size pool from 3-5’ deep. 2 cabins also available.
