What to Do
Water recreation at Lake Raystown Resort: The 30-mile long lake offers multiple water access points for boating and swimming. "Great getaway campground for some camping or glamping fun! So much to do here including swimming on the beach or at the water park, mountain biking, boating, hiking, and enjoying the beautiful lake!" writes Kaitlyn A. from Lake Raystown Resort.
Hiking through historical sites: Explore the old limestone kilns and quarry sites near Canoe Creek State Park. "This park is a little different and has some fairly interesting history. There are some old ruins as well as an old quarry site," notes Sarah C. who stayed at the park cabins.
Fishing from waterfront sites: Cast directly from shoreline sites at Susquehannock Campground. Ian W. reports, "Very cool camp. Loops for RVs, higher on the hill, waterfront loops on steeper grounds for tents, and some walk-to sites adjacent to parking right at the point which double as boat-in. Some site right on the water, can walk right into the lake."
Mountain biking on Allegrippis Trails: Access premier trails directly from Ridge Camp. "Ridge camp is the furthest away from the marina and the public swimming area. However it's the closest to the Allegrippis Trail system and from the entrance of the camp loop there is a trail head!" shares Travis S.
What Campers Like
Private waterfront sites: At Susquehannock Campground, waterfront sites provide direct lake access. "We stayed here as a last resort site for a spur of the moment camping trip. Over all we had a blast! The campsites sit on slight inclines but aren't overbearing. They provided shaded area and are accessible to the shoreline! We could not see any of our neighbors, but could still hear them," notes Kristen H.
Well-maintained facilities: Cleanliness stands out at Seven Points Campground, where David L. reports: "Great clean campground, easy to maneuver with a big rig, level sites, clean restrooms and shower rooms. Lots of great hiking, footpath around the park layered with recycled rubber was great to walk on."
Level RV pads: Many campgrounds offer well-designed parking areas. Tim J. shares about Ridge Camp: "From the time we arrived and filled up the fresh water tank at the ultra-cool 4 lane dump station, I knew we were in for a great weekend. One backup attempt into the site and (according to our LevelMatePRO app) it was perfectly level...that was definitely a first for us."
Off-grid experience with basic amenities: Susquehannock offers primitive camping with essential services. Andrew clarifies: "Don't be alarmed by the fact that some reviews call this 'primitive' camping-- there are restrooms with well-ventilated composting toilets, potable water is available at the entrance station, and our campsite was very flat, clean, and safe."
