    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Natural Falls State Park stands as the primary developed campground in the Colcord, Oklahoma area, offering multiple accommodation options including tent sites, RV spaces with hookups, and cabin rentals. Located near the Arkansas-Oklahoma border, this state park features a 77-foot waterfall as its centerpiece attraction and provides both developed camping areas and hiking trails. Additional camping opportunities exist at nearby Flint Creek, which offers more rustic tent camping experiences, and Flint Ridge Resort, which includes cabin and glamping options approximately 15 minutes from downtown Colcord.

Most campgrounds in the area are accessible year-round with varying levels of amenities. Natural Falls State Park offers concrete pads at RV sites, fire rings, picnic tables, and access to shower facilities, while smaller campgrounds like Flint Creek provide more basic amenities with portable toilets. "The park is pristine and well cared for. Friendly folks at registration," noted one visitor to Natural Falls State Park. Road conditions are generally good with paved access to major campgrounds, though some tent sites may require short walks from parking areas. Cell service remains reliable throughout most established camping areas. Weekends during summer months often see higher occupancy rates, making advance reservations advisable, especially for holiday periods.

Campers consistently praise the waterfall views and hiking opportunities at Natural Falls State Park, with trails ranging from easy paved paths to more challenging routes leading to the base of the falls. "We tent camped at this beautiful little park; waterfalls are short distance away and there are other trails that are pleasant to hike and fairly easy," reported one camper. The park's proximity to Flint Creek swimming areas provides additional recreation options during summer months. Several reviewers mention that tent camping areas offer less privacy than desired, with sites positioned relatively close together. Nighttime lighting in the campgrounds can be bright, which some campers find distracting. Wildlife viewing opportunities include occasional river otter sightings, particularly around water features throughout the region.

      Taylor Ferry

      Peaceful spot!

We stopped at Taylor’s Ferry for one night on a road trip and pretty much had the whole campground to ourselves! We stayed in spot 51 (pull through) right on the water and shaded! Campground is very clean and hosts are helpful. My son fished in the lake right outside our spot and we had deer walking by!

      Regatta On Grand

      First Class Resort

Registration is totally online- you register, pay, and check in online. You will receive a text message the morning of your arrival day asking you to provide an ETA. You will be assigned a concierge who will meet you when you arrive and escort you to your site.

All the park and on-site restaurant staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The entrance to the resort is directly off the main road and is easy to navigate for any size rig. The same inside the park; it's well-marked and easy to navigate.

We were assigned to pull-thru site number S-6. All sites had concrete pads, and they all appear to be fairly level. Power, Water, and Sewer were all conveniently located, and the power supply had no issues at all. We use a power management system, and all electrical parameters were spot on during our stay. Water pressure was very good, and the in-ground sewer connection was conveniently located. Bathrooms, showers, and a laundry area aren't available, although both restaurants on the property do have bathrooms for their customers.

Wi-Fi, Satellite, Cable, and OTA: there is no Wi-Fi in the park. We were able to get AT&T 5G with 4 bars. AT&T achieved 399 Mbps down and 10.6 Mbps up. Satellite reception should not be an issue at most sites, as you can move your dish around to an open area on your site. There are plenty of OTA stations available, and they all had great reception with clear HD pictures. Cable was not available.

Dog Park: They have a nice fenced-in park that is in great condition. The park has a covered bench, and they also provide doggie bags and a trash can.

Amenities: Lots of items are listed on their website, and you are only a few miles from area stores and restaurants. Summary: A great place for an overnight or an extended stay, even if they don't have the normal RV park amenities like showers, bathrooms, or a laundry area

      Snake Creek

      Decent place for lake stay

Quiet camping, restrooms are clean and have showers.

Site 10 was a nice site with 50 amp.

There was some sort of dumpster situation with new rollaways beside old dumpsters. Old dumpsters looked like were attempted to be taped up but they were used and overfilled with trash. So full that trash was flying around the park at times. Not sure what the situation was.

Hog Valley RV & Treehouse Resort

      Still a nice park, but...

We last stayed here five years ago when the park was new. Some of the areas and amenities that are now available were still under construction during our last trip. The bottom line… still a very nice park, but it's starting to show its age a little.

Parking for registration is located right next to the office. All the park staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The road from the highway to the park is easy to navigate for any size rig. The same inside the park; it's well-marked and easy to navigate, though several roads have asphalt failures that need attention. Even though it's not too far from Interstate 49, we didn't hear any traffic noise at all- very peaceful.

We were assigned to pull-thru site number 36. Most of the sites are gravel, but the pull-thru row that we were in had concrete pads. For the most part, all sites appear fairly level.

Power, Water, and Sewer were all conveniently located, and the power supply had no issues at all. We use a power management system, and all electrical parameters were spot on during our stay. Water pressure was very good, and the in-ground sewer connection was conveniently located.

Two bathroom areas also have showers and laundry facilities- one at the front of the park and one in the rear. The pool area and playground are located at the front of the park.

Wi-Fi, Satellite, Cable, and OTA: there is Wi-Fi in the park, but the park info sheet that they provide you with notes that the Wi-Fi is spotty. We were able to get AT&T 5G with 4 bars. AT&T achieved 418 Mbps down and 21 Mbps up. Satellite reception should not be an issue at most sites, and if you do need clear access for satellite reception, there are plenty of sites available with no trees. There are plenty of OTA stations available, and they all had great reception with clear HD pictures. Cable was not available.

Dog Park: They have two nice fenced-in parks that are in great condition. The one in the front of the park is divided for big and small dogs, while the one in the back is larger but not divided. They both have benches, which are all in good shape. They also provide doggie bags and a trash can. NOTE: I've included a photo of the sign posted at the entrances to the park indicating that they might be shut down. So if having a fenced dog park is mission-critical for your stay, you might want to verify that they are still open when you make your reservation

Amenities: Lots of items are listed on their website, and you are only a few miles from Fayetteville, where you can find plenty of stores and restaurants. Summary: A great place for an overnight or an extended stay. Although the park is starting to show its age, it still deserves a high rating, and I would not hesitate to recommend it- enjoy your stay!

      Cookson Bend

      Pretty good park

The campground is quite nice overall, but the bathrooms and showers need to be updated, as they are somewhat outdated. The tent sites are close to the bathrooms, and the pads are flat and framed with either wood or steel rails. They offer electricity but no water at the pad, although water is available at a central location. The travel trailer sites offer water and electricity, and you can park your boat on the shoreline.

      Whispering Woods RV Park

RV Park for Indigo Sky Casino

Sites have water and electric, and a dumping station. Really nice showers and bathrooms. Don't have to gamble, and fairly cheap to stay with access to the hotel pool.

      Cookson Bend

      Great lake to be on

I enjoyed my stay, although I wish the bathrooms and showers were more modern. There is a swimming area and plenty of space to bring your boat ashore close to your campsite. They offer a few tent sites, but mostly RV sites.

The Creeks Golf & RV Resort

      Golf Course Stay near Fayetteville

We had a wonderful time! The sites were not very big, but it’s a great spot if you like to golf and don’t need/want much room! Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was a great spot with reasonable prices! Nice view of the pond and discounted golf with stay! Would definitely come back!

    Guide to Colcord

Colcord, Oklahoma camping sits within the Ozark Highland region where limestone formations create unique natural features at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 feet. Winter camping requires preparation for overnight temperatures that can drop below freezing, while summer highs often reach into the 90s with humidity making shade trees essential at campsites. Most local campgrounds remain open year-round with varying seasonal amenities.

    What to do

Disc golf at Natural Falls: Natural Falls State Park offers an 18-hole disc golf course through wooded terrain. "Loved the falls, big campsites, hiking trails and 18 hole disc golf," notes one visitor to Natural Falls State Park.

Floating at Eagle Bluff: The Illinois River provides excellent floating opportunities with 6-mile and 12-mile options. "The park is set up in several sections. There is the family campground which we were in, and the late night campground, which is intended for late night drinking and music," explains a visitor to Eagle Bluff Resort.

Wildlife viewing at Lake Wedington: Located about 20 miles east of Colcord, this lake offers bird watching opportunities in a quieter setting. "Small clean lake with lots of wildlife and close to Fayetteville. Kayak, canoe, and fishing, with bird watching, RV and tent camping, and day use areas among the trees," shares a camper at Lake Wedington.

    What campers like

Private camping spots: Some campgrounds offer more secluded sites away from crowds. "Love this campground so much. Great spots with really level pads set in a beautifully treed park. Surrounded by disc golf, waterfalls, and hiking. Would totally come back over and over. Our site was really private on the outside loop," reports a camper at Natural Falls State Park.

Family-friendly water access: Flint Creek offers gentle swimming areas suitable for children of various ages. "They have a nice, Expansive swimming and wading area all along the creek. There are deep pools and shallow wading areas to fit all ages and abilities. The park is clean and spacious," notes a visitor to Flint Creek.

Historical structures: Some campgrounds feature historical buildings that add character to the camping experience. "This place reminded me of Lake Lure from 'Dirty Dancing' with its historical buildings and beautiful lake. Super quiet at night," writes a camper describing the atmosphere at Lake Wedington.

    What you should know

Campground congestion: During peak summer weekends, expect crowds at popular water access points. "This is more of a queue campsite for groups that are floating the river the next day. It's an okay campsite as long as you're okay with noise from nearby campers and you're not looking for a remote experience," cautions a reviewer about Eagle Bluff Resort.

Limited bathroom facilities: Some campgrounds have minimal bathroom facilities that can become crowded. "The bathrooms are only port-a-johns but they work," mentions a Flint Creek visitor, while another camper notes about Spavinaw State Park: "There was only one bathroom each for women and men and the shower is in that bathroom, so you can wait a loooonnnggg time to use the restroom."

Site proximity: Tent sites at some campgrounds are positioned close together. "Most of the sites were set up as RV type sites and not much for tent campers. The trails can be done in a day and are crowded. If you are looking for solitude this park is not for you," advises a Natural Falls State Park camper.

    Tips for camping with families

Accessible trails: Several campgrounds offer trails suitable for families with mobility considerations. "You can take your wheelchair on some of the trails and look at the Falls. There's a steep hike down to the falls for those who can walk it. The road is paved and each site has cement pad. So if you have a special needs person with you they can get around with no prob," explains a visitor to Natural Falls State Park.

Playground options: For families needing recreational facilities, some campgrounds provide play structures. "The sites are spread out down a river created by a dam of lake Spavinaw. You can fish on the lake or river or bring an inter-tube and float down the river! There are nice playgrounds, disc golf and trails," mentions a Spavinaw State Park camper.

Overnight temperature planning: The area experiences significant temperature fluctuations, even in summer months. "We went in early May and almost froze but the area is so pretty and the water in the river was pretty clear," shares a Spavinaw camper, highlighting the importance of packing appropriate clothing even during warmer seasons.

    Tips from RVers

Level camping pads: Several campgrounds provide level concrete pads for RVs. "This site had plenty of tree cover that kept us from seeing the bluffs; but it also provided for a cool experience looking out of the back windows of our camper, especially at night. The campsite included 30 amp service and water for our camper. It also had a picnic table, grill and fire pit. The pad itself was almost perfectly level which is always a plus," explains a reviewer from Highwater Camp.

Limited big rig access: Some of the best places to camp near Colcord, Oklahoma have limitations for larger RVs. "RV camped, and the slots are only 30 feet wide, which puts your outside dining & Family area directly next to the next camper," cautions an Eagle Bluff Resort visitor about the tight spacing at some locations.

Seasonal flooding considerations: Campers with RVs should check weather conditions before arrival as some sites experience flooding. "In the spring the river often floods the campground so if it's been raining heavy for a few days, check to see if the grounds are flooded," advises a Spavinaw State Park visitor.
