Best Campgrounds near Canton, OK

Canton, Oklahoma features multiple public campgrounds situated around Canton Lake, managed primarily by the Army Corps of Engineers. Big Bend Park and Canadian Campground offer the most developed facilities, with both tent and RV sites available. Many campgrounds in this area include water and electric hookups, with some providing covered picnic tables and lake views. Roman Nose State Park, located approximately 30 miles southeast of Canton near Watonga, offers more diverse accommodation options including cabins and tent sites, plus amenities like showers and hiking trails.

Access to Canton Lake campgrounds typically follows a seasonal pattern, with most sites operating from April through October. The lakeside campgrounds feature a mix of shaded and open sites, with concrete pads available at several locations. "Big Bend is a really nice campground with most sites on or overlooking the water. Most of the sites, except a few on the water, seemed to have shade during part of the day," noted one visitor. Winter camping is possible at some locations like Big Bend Park, which reportedly offers free primitive camping during winter months with reduced amenities. Summer visitors should prepare for Oklahoma heat, especially at more exposed sites.

Campers consistently highlight the lake views and fishing opportunities as major draws to Canton area campgrounds. Canadian Campground has been rebuilt following tornado damage, featuring "great concrete pads and nice picnic covered pads with nice tables," according to feedback on The Dyrt. Visitors frequently mention the quality fishing for walleye and striper in Canton Lake as a significant attraction. Several campgrounds, including Big Bend, feature boat ramps for easy water access. Sites vary in privacy, with most campgrounds offering a mix of waterfront views and more secluded spots with afternoon shade. Weekends during summer months typically see higher occupancy rates, though many reviewers note that even during peak season, these campgrounds rarely reach full capacity.

    Wanderlust Crossings RV Park

High end RV park with reasonable price

Weather by choice or necessity you have to stay at and RV park this is an excellent choice. This is not a chain, but a park designed owned and run by a couple that picked the best points of all the places they camped in their tour of the US. Clean restrooms and services, such as leave your trash at the curb and they will pick it up when you leave. Prices are very reasonable. I paid $46 a night for full hook up.

    Wanderlust Crossings RV Park

    Absolutely stunning

We picked this place because of its convenience to route 40 and what a suprise. The grounds are stunning! Each space had cement slabs that are level which made our night stop so easy. The grass is thick and meticulously cared for. The dog park even has lush grass! We had an amazing stay.

    Big Bend Park

    Very Nice

On the west side of the lake. The campground is open to the public and considered private. Gated with well-maintained roads, old-growth trees, landscaping, ample sized back-in sites with asphalt, covered picnic tables with prep area, and grills. Some tent sites with water. Each r.v. site has a spigot and shore power. Some are 50 amp and others are 30 all with 15. Each site has a view of the lake. Playground and public toilets. Boat ramp. Convenience store at corner. Very nice, we will be back.

Cedar Point Campground, Foss State Park, OK

    Camping by the lake

Great level concrete slabs to park on. Each site has

    • water
    • fire pit
    • picnic table and -power .

A separate dump site as you leave.

There us a basic toilet block about 400m from the RV sites. 1 hand basin and 2 cubicles.

Separate showers that are very basic and you need to pay for.

Lots of space outside of the R V camp area where tents go.

A nice spot that is cheap and idelaic for an over nighter for us.
