    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

    FHUs Sites in a field

    PROS

Able to reserve 144 days prior to arriving

Very nice campground but the design leaves a lot to be desired

Friendly camp hosts who were busy picking up trash in common areas and cleaning sites Moveable picnic table

Metal fire ring with cooking grate

Site D45 level asphalt parking pad surrounded by grass

Great view of lake from D loop; some had water access at rear of site

Quiet except for campground party animals who kept it going into the wee hours of the morning

Coin-operated laundromats in non FHU loops $1.50 wash and $1 dry

Free WIFI available and able to connect at campsite

Dump Stations at Park exit have complimentary hoses

Camp store sells hard dipped ice cream

14 miles from the Airstream Service Center in Jackson Center

    CONS

    No senior discount

$6.50 reservation fee for self made on-line reservation

Basically the FHU loops are out in a field…no privacy from neighbors and no shade what so ever

Grass around sites desperately needed mowed, if you could get thru the large mud puddles

FHU loop D has narrow roads and require driving on grass to back in trailer and some campers in other sites had to move their vehicles

Short length of campsite required creative parking of tow vehicle

Damn Canadian Geese poop every...what a mess!

Site number on electric utility box

FHU sewer connection at the back of the campsite so bring the looooong stinky slinky FHU loop D had tiny toilet building, but no showers; showers were in non-FHU loops

No entry gate personnel on a Friday afternoon to accomplish check-in. Went to park office next morning and was informed no check in required prior to Memorial Day. Never saw a Park ranger driving thru campground

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Kiser Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

Guide to Zanesfield

RV sites near Zanesfield, Ohio offer diverse camping options within Champaign County and the surrounding area. Located in west-central Ohio at approximately 1,100 feet elevation, the region features rolling farmland interspersed with small lakes and wooded areas. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-85°F, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s even during peak season.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Kiser Lake State Park Campground provides excellent bank fishing access with no motorized boats allowed on the water. "The campground has no full hookups but does have electric. RV sites have a view of the lake. Sites are clean and paved," notes camper Aaliya B. The lake remains calm and ideal for anglers seeking bass and panfish.

Water recreation: Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort includes family-friendly water activities during summer months. "Fun location just off the highway. Perfect for a family, has swimming pool, putt putt, and other child friendly activities... also has small fishing pond," reports Buck B. The campground maintains these facilities year-round as it operates throughout all seasons.

Hiking trails: Several parks near Zanesfield offer hiking options with varying difficulty levels. "Kiser Lake features a beach, 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn't allow pets," advises Andrea F. Trail conditions vary seasonally with limited maintenance during winter months.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Poor Farmer's Campground receives consistent praise for maintenance standards. "Clean family oriented and spacious. Well run facility w good restrooms and showers plus electric hook up per site. Out in farm country so very little light pollution overall," writes camper Loud F., highlighting the rural setting that appeals to many visitors.

Family activities: Campgrounds in this region often organize weekend events for children. "They usually have a lot of activities for the weekends planned," notes Vance M. about Poor Farmer's Campground. The stream running through the property provides natural play areas when temperatures rise.

Affordable rates: Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground offers competitive pricing for its amenities. "Sites are large for the weekend campers. The seasonal ones all have back in and the weekends are pull through which is kinda nice. They have two ponds, one for fishing and one for swimming... Oh and it was only $45 a night," reports Bryatt S.

What you should know

Site types vary: Many campgrounds differentiate between seasonal and weekend camping sections. "The sites we were at had a very large spacious area. It was a grassy patch no actual pad to park but as we drove around there were plenty of areas that had gravel pads available," explains Ashley R. about Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds.

Bathroom facilities: Quality of restrooms differs significantly between locations. "The bathrooms come in two varieties. One is a outhouse type room it's a concrete 'toilet' with a toilet seat on it that drops into a hole in the ground and the other is a porta potty," warns Ashley R. about Welcome Woods, important information for campers without self-contained facilities.

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds near Zanesfield require advance booking, especially from May through October. Wait times for prime lakeside spots at Kiser Lake can extend to 3-4 weeks during summer holidays and fall color season.

Tips for camping with families

Look for structured activities: Alton RV Park provides organized events despite its compact size. "This place has the nicest people working and they work so hard to keep it beautiful. New showers and bathrooms, new laundromat, new and improved process to get to your spot, and very safe. There is a fire pit you can use with free firewood when I was there!" reports Kendra P.

Consider water access: Multiple campgrounds feature kid-friendly water features. "The swimming one has a dock kids jump off but it only goes to about 3.5-4 feet deep at the deepest point," explains Bryatt S. about Arrowhead Lake, providing important safety information for parents.

Pack for variable weather: Ohio weather changes rapidly even in summer months. Temperatures can drop 20+ degrees overnight, requiring both warm-weather clothing and additional layers for evening activities.

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: Sunset Springs RV Resort accommodates larger rigs with dedicated spaces. "New pull through are perfect for our 40 foot motorhome," notes Dave K., highlighting the campground's ability to handle modern recreational vehicles.

Access considerations: Several campgrounds feature gravel drives that may become challenging after heavy rainfall. "We were just passing through for a night, but this was a beautiful, and friendly spot to stay for the night. Most of the sites are electric hookup only, some are electric and water, but we got a full hookup site," shares Allison W. about Poor Farmer's Campground.

Tree clearance issues: Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort has potential overhead obstacles. "Pull through we were assigned had very low hanging tree limbs. I called the office and asked if we could use space 41 instead. No problem!" reports Bonnie L., demonstrating the need to assess site-specific conditions for larger motorhomes.
