RV parks near Tallmadge, Ohio support a range of RV and camper site setups. "The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric," noted one visitor about West Branch State Park Campground. Roundup Lake RV Resort operates from May through October with full hookup sites including 50-amp service, accommodating larger motorhomes with pull-through options. Evergreen Park RV Resort provides year-round access with big-rig friendly sites featuring water, sewer, and electric connections. Berlin RV Park offers seasonal camping from April through December with 50-amp hookups and accommodations specifically designed for larger recreational vehicles. Most campgrounds feature gravel or concrete pads, though site levelness varies considerably between locations.

Advance reservations are essential during peak seasons, particularly for premium full-hookup sites. West Branch State Park requires bookings up to six months ahead for their limited number of sewer-equipped spaces. Several campgrounds provide on-site dump stations with varying configurations - one reviewer noted that Punderson State Park "only has one hose for black tank flush and other cleaning necessary for the two stations." Cell service quality fluctuates throughout the region, with stronger coverage at Streetsboro/Cleveland SE KOA where a camper reported "ATT cell coverage was full." Most RV parks maintain pet-friendly policies with designated dog areas at select locations. Proximity to Cuyahoga Valley National Park makes these campgrounds popular bases for exploring, with driving distances ranging from 15-30 minutes depending on the specific campground location.

Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

      Amish Country Campsites

      Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

      Atwood Lake Park Campground

      Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

Beautiful campground, choose your site wisely

When we arrived, we checked in at the camp office. The ladies there were very kind. The roads through the campground are wide enough for two-way traffic and nicely paved.

This is a beautiful, heavily treed campground. Even on Memorial Day weekend with lots of people, the park was very peaceful. The sounds of birds permeate the air round the clock. Chipmunks run amok. They’re just so cute.

We booked site 56 for our 39’ fifth wheel. As soon as we pulled up, we knew there was no way we’d fit even though the reservation site said it would accommodate a 40’ rig. The camp hosts happened to be passing by as we were surveying the site. They were very helpful redirecting us to a nearby site that would be more suitable. FYI, sites 55 and 56 have deep culverts on either side. One wrong turn and you’re going to have a problem. The majority of sites along our road were just wide enough to keep the tires out of the dirt, but not wide enough for the stairs to land on asphalt. If you have a motorhome or other wide-bodied rig, like an Alliance Paradigm, I would recommend choosing one of the sites on the loop around the playground. Those are better suited for newer big rigs.

TIP…the line at the dump station is long on the holiday weekends. Plan accordingly.

      West Branch State Park Campground

      Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

      Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

      Big Arbs Campground

      Lots of Hills

The whole campground is on a hill. Most if not all seasonal sites. The area we stayed was mostly the party crowd and didnt seem to respect quiet time. There is a long list of rules most do not follow. And ownership takes no responsibility. We had to ask several times for a picnic table and fire ring.

      Punderson State Park Campground

      Excellent Park & Campground!

We have just returned from our first stay at Punderson and have no complaints! Sites are smallish, but clean, mostly level and well kept, as is the camping area in general. There are NO pull-through sites I am aware of. Had a picnic with nearby family at one of the pavilions… again, neat and clean and well taken care of. Very quiet at night, which is something we look for. Firewood for sale on site was a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was lack of strong WIFI, but we have our own uplink. Will definitely return!

    Guide to Tallmadge

Tallmadge sits in northeastern Ohio between the urban areas of Akron and Cleveland, with nearby campgrounds positioned along the Cuyahoga River watershed. Most camping options near Tallmadge fall within the glaciated Allegheny Plateau region, characterized by rolling hills and small lakes. Camping season typically runs April through October, with July temperatures averaging 72°F and frequent summer thunderstorms affecting outdoor activities.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Countryside Campground provides access to Mogadore Reservoir for shoreline fishing. "We camped at site #10. Was level side to side, lots are pretty tight in that area. A nice short walk takes you to Mogadore reservoir, no luck for us fishing from shore," reports one camper at Countryside Campground.

Water recreation: Woodside Lake Park offers water-based activities beyond just swimming. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," notes a visitor. Their lake features paddle bikes and kayaking with lifejackets provided for water sport games.

Amish Country exploration: Berlin RV Park serves as a convenient base for experiencing Amish culture. "Spent the weekend here while visiting Amish country in Ohio. The owners are extremely nice and helpful," explains a camper. The campground sits minutes from Berlin with easy access to Amish shops, restaurants and cultural sites.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Berlin RV Park & Campground receives consistent praise for maintenance standards. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids: Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," states one reviewer. Another mentions, "Restroom/shower facilities are excellent. There are three showers in each of the mens and womens sides. Each shower has a locking door and a sink."

Family-friendly amenities: Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers prime waterfront camping spots. "We stayed here 28th-30th of August. It's been my kids favorite so far this yr, probably mine as well. Main reason we had a vacant lot on either side of us and our lot (a24) was right on water," shares a camper. Their fishing opportunities directly from campsites particularly appeal to families.

Winter camping options: Evergreen Park RV Resort provides off-season camping with indoor amenities. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool," notes a winter visitor. Their heated facilities make shoulder-season camping viable when other campgrounds close.

    What you should know

Site spacing varies: Campgrounds differ significantly in site privacy and layout. "Very clean and nice campground. I only negative for me was the campsites are very close to each other," notes a camper at Evergreen Park RV Resort. This contrasts with experiences at other parks that offer more seclusion.

Reservation timing considerations: Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground fills quickly during peak periods. "When we discovered that Shenango Corps of Engineers park had closed early in September, we needed to find a home right away. This met our needs very well," explains a last-minute visitor. For holiday weekends and summer months, booking several weeks ahead remains essential.

Water quality concerns: Some campgrounds face infrastructure challenges. One Woodside Lake Park reviewer reported, "I left after 2 months due to iron & sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail." Bringing filtration systems or bottled water may be necessary at certain locations.

    Tips for camping with families

Swimming amenities: Woodside Lake Park offers lake-based recreation for kids. "I really enjoy being my family out to woodside they have great amenities are close to stores just incase you forget anything as one does and the lake they have water sports games kayaking a paddle bike," explains a family camper. Their beach area includes inflatable water features specifically designed for children.

Playground facilities: Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground provides space for children to play. "Our family really enjoyed staying here, and our kids especially loved swimming and fishing in the lake," mentions a family visitor. Their dedicated play areas accommodate various age groups with multiple activity options.

Camping cabin options: Roundup Lake RV Resort offers alternative lodging for families without camping gear. A visitor who stayed in their Park Model Cabin noted, "My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen." These units provide convenient alternatives for families new to camping or during inclement weather.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: RV sites near Tallmadge, Ohio often require leveling equipment. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," reports a camper at Berlin RV Park. Many campgrounds feature gravel pads with varying degrees of levelness.

Utility placement considerations: Scenic Hills RV Park presents hookup configuration challenges. "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," explains an RVer. Bringing extra-length hoses and cables helps address these layout issues.

Seasonal camper prevalence: Many campgrounds near Tallmadge maintain a high percentage of seasonal residents. "For those worried about campgrounds with seasonal or full-timers, yes, this campground does have people who appear to park their rig here year-round," notes a Woodside Lake Park visitor. First-time visitors should research campground demographics before booking if seeking a more transient camping experience.
