      Silver Springs Campground

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

It's Just a Field- But the Staff (and Dog Park) are Wonderful!

Silver Springs Campground is a small 27 site campground in Stow, Ohio, a convenient 17 minutes from Cuyahoga Valley National Park and a bargain at $18/night for a site with electrical hookups.

While there isn't much to say about the privacy at this campground, because you are generally just staying in a field, the manager was absolutely wonderful and gave us all kinds of maps and information on Cuyahoga National Park when he came around to check us in.

The campground can get very muddy during the wet season- the town offers a good description of each campsite on their website and we found the descriptions, as well as their warnings about flood potential, to be very accurate. Our site had a large mud hole, so we joked that we had a waterfront campsite and just rolled with it- the sites were large enough that we didn't have to park near the water.

Despite having a dog aggressive dog, we were able to check out Bow Wow Beach nearby because we went early enough in the morning that nobody was around. The dog park is really fun and offered a great opportunity for our dog to run around before we got back on the road.

We were really happy with this campsite and would definitely return at some point if we needed to visit Cuyahoga again.

      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Stow

Silver Springs Campground offers electric hookup sites and nearby hiking trails within a municipal park setting near Stow, Ohio. Surrounded by wooded paths and grassy areas, the campground provides electrical service at all 27 sites with varying amperage options. Sites are situated on grass terrain with uneven areas that can become muddy during wet conditions.

    What to do

Explore Cuyahoga Valley National Park: Located approximately 17 minutes from Stow, the national park offers extensive trails for day hikes. One camper at Silver Springs Campground noted: "We were just passing through, but this would be a great home base for biking and/or exploring the Cuyahoga Valley NP."

Fish at nearby lakes: Countryside Campground provides direct access to Mogadore Reservoir for fishing enthusiasts. "There's a nice short walk that takes you to Mogadore reservoir," reports a camper, though some mention "no luck for us fishing from shore."

Visit local farms: The area includes seasonal attractions like Heritage Farms, which operates as a working Christmas tree farm with tent camping. A visitor observed: "Both standard campsites and shelters are available and are scattered among a working Christmas Tree farm."

    What campers like

Large, spacious sites: Multiple campgrounds offer generous site dimensions. At Countryside Campground, a camper reported: "The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious. It is mostly an established RV Park."

Swimming options: Water recreation ranges from designated beaches to natural lakes. At Woodside Lake Park, visitors appreciate the "swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities."

Walking trails: Many local campgrounds maintain trail networks. At Silver Springs, a reviewer mentioned: "There is also a wooded walking trail network on the east and North sides of the campground," providing immediate access to nature without driving.

    What you should know

Bathroom facilities vary significantly: From basic portable toilets to full shower houses. A reviewer at Punderson State Park noted: "Bathrooms are just port-a-johns located on either side of the campground but there are flushable toilets a little walk away."

Site conditions fluctuate with weather: Many campgrounds in the area have drainage issues during rain. One camper observed: "Our grassy site had some muddy spots, but the site was big enough that we were able to avoid the mud."

Reservation policies differ: While some campgrounds require advance booking, others operate first-come systems. At Mill Creek Camping, a visitor advised: "All sites are reservation only and they usually fill up fast."

    Tips for camping with families

Seek campgrounds with dedicated children's activities: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA provides structured recreation options. A reviewer shared: "Great amenities for families. Pool. Playground. Dog park. Fishing ponds. Planned activities."

Consider noise levels: Family-oriented campgrounds may have higher activity levels. One camper mentioned: "Despite some loud campers on a nearby tent site, we loved this campground and would definitely go back!"

Look for pet-friendly amenities: Several campgrounds accommodate pets with specialized facilities. Countryside Campground includes a "Dog park" among its amenities for families traveling with animals.

    Tips from RVers

Check site leveling requirements: Many area campgrounds have uneven terrain. A visitor to Punderson State Park warned: "The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground."

Verify electrical service capacity: Amperage varies between campgrounds and sites. One RVer at Mill Creek Camping mentioned they have "fire rings and electrics and nonelectric sites" available, requiring advance planning for power needs.

Consider seasonal timing: Local campgrounds operate on varying schedules, with most open April through October. A reviewer noted at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA: "Only an overnight stop during a bigger trip but it seemed nice. They were accommodating to our late arrival and left a map and gate key at the office."
