    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Perry, Ohio provides lake-oriented camping options along the shores of Lake Erie, with Perry Township Park as a standout location featuring both tent and RV sites with electric hookups. The area includes several mixed-use campgrounds within a 20-mile radius, including Geneva State Park Campground and Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday, offering varying levels of amenities from primitive tent sites to full-hookup RV spots and cabin rentals. Most campgrounds in the region are established facilities rather than dispersed camping areas, with several positioned to take advantage of Lake Erie views and access.

Many campgrounds in the Perry area operate seasonally, with most open from May through October due to the northern Ohio climate. A visitor commented, "Relax, breath, and camp. This campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people." Road access to camping areas is generally good with paved roads leading to most developed campgrounds. Visitors should note that reservations are recommended, especially for weekend stays during summer months when lakefront sites fill quickly. Cell service is typically reliable throughout the area, and most established campgrounds offer basic amenities including drinking water, restrooms, and trash disposal. Weather considerations include potential for strong winds off Lake Erie and occasional severe thunderstorms during summer months.

Lake Erie serves as the defining feature for camping experiences near Perry, with several campgrounds offering direct views or access to the shoreline. A recent review noted, "We had a perfect view of the sunset from the site. Sounds from the lake and birds." Perry Township Park receives consistently high ratings for its waterfront location, clean facilities, and helpful camp hosts. Many campers appreciate the quiet, intimate setting of the smaller campgrounds in the area compared to larger facilities. Tent campers have options ranging from Lake Erie Bluffs' walk-in sites with lake views to more developed locations with electric hookups. For RV travelers, several campgrounds provide full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections, with Big Creek Park and Geneva State Park offering additional recreational amenities such as fishing ponds, swimming areas, and hiking trails.

      Punderson State Park Campground

      Does the job

This campground has a ton to do - a beach for swimming, kayaking, archery, hiking and more. The tent sites are tucked back from the campground road, but the camper sites are fairly close together. Our site was not level. There were a few other issues, including lack of TO in the women’s bathroom and a gate at the back of the park (near the group site) that was left open - right off of a public road.

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

      Discriminate against car camping

I've heard there are campgrounds that discriminate against car camping, first time experiencing it. There are many sites where people have a LARGE camper, a car, and multiple tents spread out over a large area. We have 2 SUV's with tents that attach to the backs. We followed all the rules and are taking up about HALF of our site. We were told that is not allowed. When asked for reasoning and comparing to what we've seen around the park, we get no clear answer that makes sense. We are here with a group that rented about 20 sites. After spending 4 hours setting everything up, she says one may have to leave; she's waiting to hear from her boss. I will definitely never return here!

      Beautiful and clean

Great camp ground in a state park. Green, spacious, clean, quiet. Great opportunities for bike riding, walking, paddle boarding and fishing. Clean bathrooms with showers with hot water.

      Shenango Recreation Area Campground

      Love this place!

I've been coming here since I was born. I'm always drawn back to my roots. It's a great family campground with sites and hookups for everyone. No store, but Hermitage and Transfers PA are both 3 to 5 minutes away for whatever you need. Firewood is 20 dollars per tub but you get a ton of good dry wood. If your into RTT Like me check out old duck loop or new duck loop for some awesome sights. Playgrounds for the kids. Ranger activites on the weekends. Well policed and patrolled. Just a great place and beautiful lake! Fishing is top notch as well. Clean bathrooms and showers. Ice is available at check in, firewood at host site 55.

      Punderson State Park Campground

      Nice campground

Fishing, boating, clean areas. Nice fire pits, and nice cement pads. Gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the entry gate and shop doesnt always have employees in it. Closes early in day.

      Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

      Another job done

First time at a koa. Wasn’t a bad experience but I was there from march thru December instead of getting the season rate they charged me the monthly rate it cost me $3000 extra and I was treated like a seasonal camper had to mow my own grass and take out my own trash so I will not be staying at another koa

      Punderson State Park Campground

Lots of activities but not within walking distance

Sites are clean with a variety of hook-ups but few are 100% level. It appears to be an older CG. I’m in a 21’ van and tried several sites before one was level enough for me without blocks. Most sites are on the smaller side but FHU sites are okay for larger rigs. Numerous sites are walk-in and popular with tenters, they are very private and you park pretty close and walk up or down an embankment. Potable water and a dump station are available. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Staff is great! Swimming beach is across the lake from the CG and too far to walk for most. Marina is available. Restrooms are nice.

      Valley Overlook

      Absolutely Wonderful

Absolutely a great spot for large private heavily wooded sites! Only primitive non electric site for roof top campers is C5! Others are park and walk or to small to open up and be comfy. Great cabins and yurts! Clean bathrooms and showers. Everything here is done online from reservation to buying wood and so Ice so prepare for that.

      Hidden Valley Camp Ground

      Nice hidden little gem!

Family run campground that's been around for 45 years. Small place. Mostly seasonal campers. They have a few walk up tent sights. RTT campers will have to take a back in sight but they will not charge you extra unless you plug into electric. 1 swimming pond, 3 great bass fishing ponds. Nice camp store. Bathrooms are clean.
