    Big, beautiful lake!

Great park! Sites are spacious and level. Very clean park. There are several full hook-up sites. Electric sites near the lake. We stayed at site #96. New Bathrooms are under construction. Campground is flat and great for bike riding. Nice playground for kids. Dog park nearby. Camp is near beach & marina. Also many shops and restaurants within a 10 minute drive. We will definitely be coming back to Mosquito Lake!

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

Good location but expensive for what you get

Pros: closest camping to Cuyahoga National Park, safe, professional (labeled envelopes with information at check-in and wood delivery) Cons: bathrooms weren’t cleaned or restocked as frequently as necessary (overflowing trash cans, TP empty by 5 pm), shower curtains/showers had mildew, truly dirty bathroom floors, had to drive 1/4 mile to the one trash dumpster, unlevel sites

One more thing: there’s a significant raccoon and skunk problem along the section with water/electric back-in spots. We got to know our neighbors very well over two nights as we helped each other fend off multiple raids by entire families of raccoons and one very large, very bold skunk. We lost two camping chairs to the skunks because there was no way to fight them off once they moved into our shelter and, even without spraying, skunks tend to leave a scent behind on anything that’s fabric.

The price is okay in that it is the closest to the national park and the next closest campgrounds are the state park campgrounds (West Branch and Mosquito Lake), but the state park grounds are MUCH nicer and about $15 less per night. If you have the time to drive and can plan your trip months in advance to get reservations, West Branch is a better alternative.

    A ++

Always a great time at West Branch. The staff are very friendly and care a great deal about the quality of everyone's experience - they inspect and clean each site after the sites are vacated. The quiet hours are truly quiet, the bathrooms are very clean and fresh. Decided to rent a pontoon for the day - the boats were also very clean and well kept - they also have the option of an inner tube or jet skis if you want to rent those as well!

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

    Labor Day weekend

Campground was clean and well maintained. Only issue we ran into was that the fire pit was not cleaned out after the last folks. It wasn’t a huge deal but there we had quite a bit of debris and wet ash to deal with. The wash houses scattered throughout are new and very clean. The one across from our site had 4 private bathrooms with a toilet and shower. Very well patrolled and tons of stuff to do within biking/running/driving distance.

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wonderful State Park

I really wish this place was back in Illinois. We stopped here on our way back from Virginia Beach. it was the most affordable stop we made and had amenities that we usually have to pay top dollar for. They had a fantastic shower house with individual locking rooms, bathrooms were very clean and they even had Laundry on site. The front desk was very helpful and gave us some ideas of things to do. I was surprised they had a decent camp store with affordable pricing. The night we arrived they had an Ice Cream social with huge cups overfilled which made the kids super happy and only $1. I believe this was set up by a volunteer committee which also had an outside movie planned for the evening. Nice quiet sites, (ours was lakeaIde vIew) which were wooded and very dark at night. They also had a modern play set area and volleyball which was utilized the entire visit. AND they had a beach with wonderful trails all through out. If I end up traveling East again, this will be on our list of stops for sure.

Guide to Perry

Near Perry, Ohio, glamping accommodations are situated within hardwood forest areas and farm settings. The region sits at approximately 700 feet above sea level along Lake Erie's southern shore, creating mild summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F. Several campgrounds offer waterfront access with fishing opportunities in local rivers and lakes.

What to do

Kayaking access points: Punderson State Park Campground provides multiple water recreation options with boat rentals and fishing opportunities. "Beautiful scenery, very large park, fishing, boat rentals, man made beach, loooong floating boardwalk, lots of trails, unique sites and tons of history" notes Daniel U.

Disc golf courses: Several glamping sites near Perry feature disc golf opportunities. At West Branch State Park Campground, visitors can enjoy this activity along with other outdoor sports. One camper mentioned "opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming (no lifeguard) and golf."

Hiking trail access: The area offers numerous maintained nature paths for day hikes from glamping accommodations. "There are some really pretty trails not too far from the park itself," reports Renée C. about the trails near Punderson, with most trails under 3 miles in length and suitable for all skill levels.

What campers like

Private waterfront sites: West Branch State Park Campground offers secluded camping alongside the water. According to Alisa G., "Waterside sites fill up quickly! We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite." Sites must be reserved 6 months in advance for prime waterfront locations.

Clean facilities: Kenisee's Grand River Campground maintains well-kept bathrooms and shower facilities. Mary Elisabeth D. noted it was a "Great RV spot! Loved our short stay, clean & lots to do," making it a popular glamping destination near Perry.

Unique elevated sites: Punderson State Park Campground features distinctive camping spots on hillsides. As Joe I. observed, "Really cool 'hill' sites that you have to hike up or down 20-100 feet to your wooded site," creating more private glamping experiences despite being in an established campground.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the Perry area have uneven terrain requiring preparation. At Mosquito Lake State Park Campground, Joe F. reported "some of lots are pretty uneven" and at West Branch, one camper noted needing to "lower the front 15 inches" with their jack to get level.

Reservation timing: Peak season requires advance planning. For the best glamping spots in Perry, Ohio, reservations should be made 3-6 months ahead. As one camper advised about waterfront sites, "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!"

Variable site sizes: Campsite dimensions differ significantly within the same campground. Joe I. observed at Punderson that "the sites greatly very on size and flatness so make sure you look at the pictures of the site before you book some are basically the parking pad and a fire ring, some are big and flat some are on a incline."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers family-friendly amenities near glamping accommodations. Christy D. highlighted their "playground, big open area and a nice pool!" making it suitable for families seeking glamping options with built-in entertainment.

Nature activities: Local parks provide educational outdoor experiences for children. Mosquito Lake State Park offers special features as Joe F. explains: "If your kids are 8 and under they'll love the nature playground and nets provided to catch critters."

Recreation variety: Family glamping trips benefit from multiple activity options. West Branch provides numerous choices as Andrea F. detailed: "We also played some disc golf and went geocaching. The camper beach was small but nice and clean." Most campgrounds offer at least 3-4 different activities suitable for various age groups.

Tips from RVers

Hookup limitations: Lily of the Valley and other glamping sites have varied electrical service. For RV glamping near Perry, Coy noted at Punderson that "Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service," requiring power management strategies for larger rigs.

Site selection advice: RV glampers should research site specifics before booking. Greg A. warned, "If you have awnings or slides, you will have to be careful about what site you will get or you will not be able to open the slides or your awning." Many campgrounds provide site-specific photos online to assist with selection.

RV-specific amenities: Kenisee's Grand River Campground offers dedicated RV facilities that enhance the glamping experience. Rachel K. noted it's "mostly an RV Park" with "electric hookups" and convenient access to local attractions, making it popular for luxury RV camping near Perry, Ohio.
