    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Several cabin options are available near Perry, Ohio, with varying amenities and accommodation styles. Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday offers cabins with electricity, heating, and private bathrooms. Big Creek Park provides rustic cabin experiences with lean-to structures for a more primitive camping option. "We had a great time. The staff was wonderful. The kids loved both the pool and the lake," noted one visitor about their stay at Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA. Penitentiary Glen Reservation also features cabins with picnic tables and toilet facilities nearby, though the cabins themselves have minimal amenities.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Most require advance reservations, especially during summer months when demand peaks. Kenisee's Grand River Campground offers pet-friendly cabin options with picnic tables and fire rings. Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake provides "nicely done cabins" according to one camper, with access to numerous on-site amenities. Seasonal availability varies, with some campgrounds like Big Creek Park open year-round while others such as Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA operate from May through October.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Cooking facilities vary significantly between locations, from basic fire rings to more equipped kitchenettes in deluxe cabins. Several campgrounds maintain on-site stores for essential supplies. Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA and Kenisee's Grand River Campground both offer markets where basic provisions can be purchased. For more substantial grocery needs, nearby towns provide shopping options. Firewood is available for purchase at most cabin locations, eliminating the need to transport it from outside areas.

      unmaintenanced

the lake is beautiful  and the park is clean but the cabins or the one I was in needed maintenance badly.front porch was soft and spongy .the screened in porch had huge holes in the screens and a huge gap in the floor .the picnic table and fire pit were leaning  badly. the bedroom had a hole in the wall which should  have been a easy fix if anyone  cared. the boat rental was nice

      West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

      Headwaters Park

      Campsite A

Had a nice stay at the Camp Site A tent site, which they label as their ADA Accessible site.

Overall me and the kids had a really nice time hanging atbthe site and exploring around the lake. Lots of friendly people too.

      Pros:

      • Tent site was generally good with a picnic table and fire pit on-site
      • Pull in parking right next to the campsite (which seems to be true for all tents and leantos)
      • Great walkable area with lots to explore with the kids
      • A few nice things just a 10min drive away like the Eagle Park splash park and playground and the cute Burton town square.
      • Tons of birds for all my bird watchers
      • Right at the entrance to the tent site area and right next to the restrooms
      • Sometimes people bring horses down there for a walk
      • Can't see other campers tent from your site (which i like because Im out here to get away from people)

      Cons:

      • Being right next the restrooms and tent area entrance is a higher traffic area. Didn't bother us much but could get annoying if woken up by a late night driver or door slam
      • The stump on the tent site has a snake in it. Didn't bother us at all, only saw it once as it was slithering away, but thought other might like to know.
      • Toilet was out of hand sanitizer

      FAQ:

      • No electic
      • No plumbing or showers (it is basically an outhouse)

      Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

      West Branch State Park Campground

      Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

great spot for direct kayak/canoe put in.

We stayed in site 218. this spot is in the smaller ( less crowded) part of Jamestown campground in Pymatuning SP. it is right on the water and has an easy access area for shore fishing and entering a kayak or canoe or some other water device. the site sits on a little bay and the otherside (more crowded) of the campground is across the water. the water is a little murky/ grassy but still good entry area. the campsite was spacious for a pa state park. the site is between the lake and the road. sites 212-222 look to be on the water with boat access, but 218 has the easiest entry. 220’s picnic Bench and fire pit sit next to the water with great views, but there is little shade. 218 had a great shady spot were you can hang 3 hammocks. there is no electricity at these sites and pretty much tent only. lots of tent space. the fire ring was decent but we moved it as it was right underneath a burnt tree. 218 was ADA accessible with a nice picnic table. restrooms were fairly close. clean... outdated, but clean.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

      Another trip to Jamestown Campground

My family has visited Pymatuning park many times now and try have used a variety of spots at Jamestown campground. It is large, offering multiple options for campsite types. It’s a standard PA state park campground offering bathrooms (bathrooms are older, but are being renovated July-August 2021) showers, fire ring, picnic table, etc. Campsites J-106 thru J-116 are well shaded, but are alongside route 322 which maintains consistent traffic at all hours. If the noise is not an issue, this run of tent sites are well spaced, and offer easy access to the facilities. To be away from the road (and nearer to the lake) sites J-120 thru J-128 are closer together but can be quieter (depending on your neighbors…)

The beach area is clean, and raked often. It has a playground and volleyball court. On Friday’s they have a family movie night at the amphitheater. Most Saturdays in the summer they offer crafts and activities for kids at the beach.

The surrounding area also has plenty of activities to offer: Local restaurants, ice cream, hiking, kayaking/boating, fishing, etc.

      Pymatuning State Park Campground

      Tent camping

This is a large campground with mostly RV sites. The tent area was relatively small with little space or privacy between sites, and a picnic table and fire pit at each. Most sites were pretty sloped. No real hiking trails here unfortunately, its mostly a fishing/boating park

    Guide to Perry

    What campers like

    What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Several campgrounds require careful preparation for cabin camping. At West Branch State Park, a visitor warns, "Our site was labeled slight slope. That was a joke. We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches."

Seasonal variations: Big Creek Park offers year-round cabin availability, with unique structures including lean-tos. Entertainment schedules: Check for weekend activities when booking. "An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend," notes a West Branch visitor, while others mention movie nights at certain parks.

    Tips from RVers

Utility connections: Cabin and RV sites vary significantly in hookup quality. At MillBrook Resort, one visitor notes, "We stayed at a site that shares a pole with water and electric hookups with 3 others," indicating potential connection limitations.

Internet connectivity: Cell and WiFi service varies dramatically between cabin locations. A MillBrook Resort camper reported, "The first time I connected to the internet at our site, it connected right away with good quality. For about 30 seconds. I never got internet at our site again."

Site selection strategies: When selecting cabin or RV sites, prioritize location over hookups for better experiences. "We like the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded," recommends a visitor at Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake.
