Best RV Parks & Resorts near Parma Heights, OH

Several RV parks operate within 30 miles of Parma Heights, providing various hookup options for motorhome travelers. Willow Lake Park in Medina features water and electric hookups, fifty-amp service, and operates seasonally from May through mid-October. Roundup Lake RV Resort accommodates big rigs with full hookup sites including water, electric, and sewer connections. At Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot, travelers find electric hookups and dump station access in a convenient location. The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds offers limited amenities but accommodates big rigs with drive-in access. "Sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," noted one visitor about Roundup Lake.

Across northeastern Ohio, RV campground terrain varies significantly, with some parks requiring substantial leveling equipment. A recent review mentioned that at Punderson State Park "you will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground." Most RV-friendly locations near Parma Heights remain open seasonally from spring through fall, though a few like Vermilion Valley operate year-round. Dump stations are generally available at the larger parks, while water quality can be inconsistent - particularly at Woodside Lake Park where one visitor reported significant iron and sulfur content in the well water. Pet policies are typically accommodating, with most parks allowing dogs with standard leash requirements.

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

    Punderson State Park Campground

    Excellent Park & Campground!

We have just returned from our first stay at Punderson and have no complaints! Sites are smallish, but clean, mostly level and well kept, as is the camping area in general. There are NO pull-through sites I am aware of. Had a picnic with nearby family at one of the pavilions… again, neat and clean and well taken care of. Very quiet at night, which is something we look for. Firewood for sale on site was a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was lack of strong WIFI, but we have our own uplink. Will definitely return!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Quiet park with nice amenities

3 Immaculate bath houses all with laundry facilities, all sites have electric (no f-ing generators) and many have have water and sewer hook ups. There is no WiFi and barely one bar of cell service; your best internet access is at the nice public library 7 miles away in Ravenna Sand beach is an easy walk from all camp sites and boat trailers can be parked on your camp site Boat launch has a big trailer parking lot, too. There are hiking, equestrian and mountain biking trails in the park and launching off paddle boards is ok at the boat launch or the nearby beach Friendly staff and camp hosts!

    Caskey's Campground

One of the few places within driving distance of Cuyahoga Valley NP

There are very few campgrounds near Cuyahoga Valley NP. Caskey's campground in Orrville is about 30 minutes away.  Most of the campsites are occupied by long-term residents - only a few sites are used by people like us staying just a few nights.  We were there for 3 nights.  People were friendly enough.  Sites have water and electric, and there's a dump station.  The bathroom facilities are a little rough but functional.  The road in is really bumpy so take it slow.

Guide to Parma Heights

Northeast Ohio campgrounds near Parma Heights operate primarily from spring to fall, with most closing by mid-October. Elevations in this region average 800-1,100 feet above sea level, creating moderate temperature variations between daytime and evening hours. Camping terrain across the Cleveland metropolitan area features predominantly flat to gently rolling landscapes with clay-heavy soil that can retain moisture after rainfall.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers dedicated fishing lakes where families can spend hours catching fish. "Our kids age 4 and 8 fished from sun up Saturday to about noon and then sporadically after that throughout the day. That night we hunted large bull frogs. All catch and release," reported one visitor who stayed at the park in August.

Hiking local trails: The Buckeye Trail connects to footpaths near Countryside Campground, providing access to Mogadore Reservoir. A camper noted, "There is a nice path through the woods down to the reservoir, where you can fish and kayak." The reservoir offers shoreline fishing and small watercraft opportunities within walking distance of campsites.

Indoor recreation options: Evergreen Park RV Resort maintains indoor facilities that operate regardless of weather conditions. "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January and the bathrooms and showers are spotless and very private," shared a winter visitor. The game room and indoor common areas provide entertainment during inclement weather.

What campers like

Peaceful overnight stops: For travelers passing through on I-80/90, Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot offers convenient electric hookups with minimal hassle. A guest mentioned, "Pulled in to the RV parking area around 9:45 pm, there was one other vehicle there. 3 more came and parked before midnight. Felt completely safe and not crowded by the campers on either side." The service plaza amenities include restaurants and a dump station.

Large tent sites: The limited tent camping areas at local campgrounds often feature more spacious accommodations than RV sections. At Countryside Campground, a visitor observed, "The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious. It is mostly an established RV Park." This space allows tent campers to spread out equipment and still maintain privacy.

Seasonal activities: Campgrounds in the region organize regular weekend events, particularly during summer and fall. "We camped here in a 29'TT, 3 kids, 2 dogs. Well kept smaller campground. Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly," shared a visitor to Countryside Campground, noting staff also arranged "crafts and pumpkin decorating for kids."

What you should know

Terrain variations: While most rv sites near Parma Heights, Ohio feature relatively level pads, some require significant adjustment equipment. At Willow Lake Park Inc, a recent visitor observed, "Truck camping and caught them early in the season and after rains the sites were kind of wet. Cold showers free, $0.50 for 5 minutes of hot water."

Water quality concerns: Well water at several campgrounds contains minerals that affect taste and odor. A camper at Willow Lake Park noted, "The water, while I'm sure was fine, had an odor to it so I didn't partake." Similar issues exist at other locations, making bottled water advisable for drinking and cooking.

Visitor fees: Some campgrounds charge additional fees for day visitors beyond registered campers. A visitor to Willow Lake Park commented, "They have a bunch of rules about visitors, and charge you for every single person (yes, there is a person at the gate checking passes!). I overheard our neighbors say they would never stay there again... They complained about the loud neighbors, charges for visitors (had to pay $70 for one day!)."

Tips for camping with families

Choose campgrounds with multiple activities: Facilities with diverse recreation options keep children engaged throughout the stay. At American Wilderness Campground, one family appreciated that "the kids enjoyed the arcade and gem mining" along with fishing access and organized activities.

Consider shower facilities: Family-friendly bathroom accommodations vary widely between campgrounds. A visitor to Evergreen Park RV Resort reported, "Bathrooms and showers are spotless and very private," making it suitable for families with children needing assistance.

Look for playground options: Multiple campgrounds in the area feature dedicated play areas for children. At Countryside Campground, a visitor mentioned, "Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," while also noting the availability of a small mini-golf course that remained open into the fall season.

Tips from RVers

Utilize turnpike camping for transit stays: RVers passing through northeast Ohio often take advantage of Vermilion Valley's convenient location directly on the Ohio Turnpike. "Clean with electric hookup for $20. Dump station as you exit. Gas and convenience items are extra helpful. Safe environment to snooze overnight," noted one RVer about this transit-oriented option.

Confirm dump station availability: Not all campgrounds offering RV sites near Parma Heights provide on-site waste disposal. A camper at Willow Lake Park reported, "I was disappointed we didn't get a full hook-up site, only to find out they don't have any (and this is a large campground!). But, for a prepaid fee, you can schedule an appointment to have someone come by and dump you out."

Check seasonal limitations: Most RV parks in the area close by mid-October and reopen in late April or early May. Evergreen Park RV Resort is one exception, with a visitor noting, "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool."
