Best RV Parks & Resorts near Mogadore, OH

Countryside Campground in Mogadore provides both 30-amp electric hookups and water connections for RVs, operating from May 1 through October 30. Sites accommodate medium-sized rigs with drive-in access on primarily grass surfaces. Nearby Roundup Lake RV Resort features full hookup capability including 50-amp service, sewer connections, and water across its numerous sites, remaining open until October 31. The Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, located within 15 miles, offers pull-through sites designed for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels, with 50-amp electric options and full hookups available from May through mid-October. Sites throughout these parks typically include picnic tables and fire rings with varying degrees of shade and spacing. "Sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," noted one RV camper about Roundup Lake.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall color season. Dump stations are available at all three major parks mentioned, though facilities vary in maintenance quality. While Countryside and Roundup Lake welcome pets at their sites, visitors should verify specific pet policies before arrival. Big rig access can be challenging at certain parks, with some guests reporting difficulty with leveling—"Very few full hookups. The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level," remarked one visitor about a nearby state park. RV supplies and basic groceries can be found at most park stores, though selection is typically limited. Many parks offer WiFi near main buildings, but connectivity throughout campgrounds remains inconsistent and visitors should plan accordingly.

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    Atwood Lake Park Campground

    Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

    Big Arbs Campground

    Lots of Hills

The whole campground is on a hill. Most if not all seasonal sites. The area we stayed was mostly the party crowd and didnt seem to respect quiet time. There is a long list of rules most do not follow. And ownership takes no responsibility. We had to ask several times for a picnic table and fire ring.

    Punderson State Park Campground

    Excellent Park & Campground!

We have just returned from our first stay at Punderson and have no complaints! Sites are smallish, but clean, mostly level and well kept, as is the camping area in general. There are NO pull-through sites I am aware of. Had a picnic with nearby family at one of the pavilions… again, neat and clean and well taken care of. Very quiet at night, which is something we look for. Firewood for sale on site was a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was lack of strong WIFI, but we have our own uplink. Will definitely return!

    Whispering Hills Campground Recreation

    Outstanding!

We have been camping at Whispering Hills Jellystone for 15 years on holiday weekends. They have so many activities for kids and families. They have crafts, swimming, a lake for fishing, newly chip and sealed roads, jump pads x2, hiking trails, a creek to explore and play in, an outdoor theater, and so so much more. This place will keep you busy if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s also very relaxing if you want it to be. The best of both worlds. Very clean and well maintained sites and bathhouses! Laundry facility available as well. They also have the best fireworks displays on holiday weekends in the area! They have sites that fit everyone’s needs, full hook up sites close to the pool, electric back in sites (where we normally camp) also close to the pool, we like the electric sites better than the full hookup sites but if you like having a concrete pad then full hookup sites are for you! They also have more secluded electric back in sites on the other side of the park away from the hustle and bustle of the campground. They also offer primitive camp sites as well as a variety of cabin choices. This place only grows and gets better with every passing year. I highly recommend giving Whispering Hills Jellystone a shot.

Guide to Mogadore

Mogadore's RV campgrounds offer year-round camping options within northeast Ohio's rolling terrain. The area sits at approximately 1,100 feet above sea level with distinctly seasonal weather patterns that impact camping conditions. Most campgrounds near Mogadore feature grassy sites with varying degrees of shade, and many provide access to Mogadore Reservoir for fishing and paddling activities.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Countryside Campground in Mogadore connects directly to Mogadore Reservoir via a walking trail. "There is a nice path through the woods down to the reservoir, where you can fish and kayak," according to one camper at Countryside Campground. For dedicated anglers, Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers direct lakefront sites. "Our kids age 4 and 8 fished from sun up Saturday to about noon and then sporadically after that throughout the day. That night we hunted large bull frogs," reports one visitor.

Amish Country excursions: Many campers use Mogadore as a base for exploring Ohio's Amish communities. The Berlin RV Park & Campground provides an ideal location. "The campground is right in the middle of Ohio's Amish country with easy access to shopping and food and other great experiences like the large cuckoo clock in Sugar Creek," one visitor shares. Local Amish experiences include cheese shops, roadside produce stands, and handcrafted goods.

Swimming and water activities: Several campgrounds offer swimming options for summer visitors. At Woodside Lake Park, "the swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," notes one regular visitor. Activities typically run from Memorial Day through Labor Day at most campgrounds.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise well-maintained restrooms and showers in the area's campgrounds. At Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, one visitor noted, "Bathrooms were clean if a bit unique with a rope and pulley system of water delivery to the shower head." Another visitor to Berlin RV Park described, "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids: Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground."

Spacious tent sites: Unlike RV areas which can be cramped, tent camping areas often provide more room. At Countryside Campground, a camper mentioned, "The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious. It is mostly an established RV Park." This offers tent campers some breathing room compared to the tighter RV sections.

Winter camping options: While most RV campgrounds in Mogadore close by late October, some locations in the broader area remain open year-round. Evergreen Park RV Resort offers winter camping opportunities. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there... The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January," shares one winter visitor.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many RV campgrounds near Mogadore have uneven sites requiring preparation. At Woodside Lake Park, "Site pads are rip rap 1" to 4" size rock with no fine rock coverings, or in some areas smoother rock and dirt but nowhere close to flat or level." Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground visitors had mixed experiences: "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine."

Water quality concerns: Some campgrounds use well water with varying mineral content. One visitor to Woodside Lake Park warned about "iron & sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park," suggesting campers bring drinking water and additional filters when staying for extended periods.

Utility hookup placement: RV site layout can create hookup challenges. At Scenic Hills RV Park, one camper noted, "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: For families with children, choose campgrounds with dedicated activities. Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers significant fishing opportunities directly from lakefront sites. At Berlin RV Park, there's "Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground" according to one visitor with children.

Off-season considerations: Camping with children outside peak summer can mean limited amenities. "We camped at site #10. Due to cooler temps pool was closed. The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," shared one Countryside Campground visitor who camped in fall.

Themed weekends: Several Mogadore area RV campgrounds offer special event weekends that appeal to families. One visitor to Roundup Lake RV Resort noted, "The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!" Halloween weekends are particularly popular, with trick-or-treating and decorating activities at multiple campgrounds.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Choose sites carefully based on specific needs. At Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, "The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," while at Berlin RV Park, one visitor recommended, "Asked for a shaded area...got a perfect one that had shade all day."

Extended stay considerations: For longer stays at rv campgrounds in Mogadore, Ohio, utility quality becomes crucial. Water pressure and electrical reliability vary significantly between parks and even between sites at the same park.

Proximity to supplies: Most Mogadore area campgrounds have limited on-site provisions. Plan shopping trips accordingly, as one Berlin RV visitor notes, the area provides "easy access to shopping and food and other great experiences." For specialized RV supplies, larger towns within 15-20 miles may be necessary.
