Silver Springs Campground offers more primitive camping options while still accommodating pets. The lake campground receives positive reviews from pet owners but enforces strict rules about walking dogs only within your campsite area. Canal Fulton's location along the Tuscarawas River provides water access, while Clay's Park features a swimming lake that gets extremely crowded during peak season. Most campgrounds have basic bathroom facilities, though cleanliness varies significantly. Maple Lakes features fishing ponds with benches where visitors can relax with pets on leash. Willow Lake Park and Findley State Park Campground both welcome pets with designated areas for walking. Visitors with pets should bring their own waste bags, as pet waste stations are limited at most locations. Caskey's Campground serves as one of the few camping options within driving distance of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, approximately 30 minutes away. Several campgrounds close seasonally, typically operating from May through September or October, so advance planning is essential for fall camping with pets.

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Doylestown

Campgrounds around Doylestown, Ohio provide access to northeast Ohio's varied terrain, with most located between 900-1,200 feet in elevation. The area receives approximately 39 inches of annual rainfall, creating lush woodland settings throughout the camping season. Most campgrounds operate from April through October, with limited winter camping options.

    What to do

Hiking and biking trails: Silver Springs Campground offers excellent access to wooded walking trails. "There is a wooded walking trail network on the east and North sides of the campground," notes Gary G. The location serves as "a great base for Cuyahoga Valley NP visit" for campers seeking to explore the national park.

Fishing opportunities: Willow Lake Park separates their fishing and swimming areas for safety. "There's a good-sized fishing pond and a separate swimming pond," explains Derek N. The fishing lake at Maple Lakes Campground is designed for relaxation with "lovely benches," according to Tracy L.

Water activities: Findley State Park Campground offers diverse water recreation beyond swimming. "Canoes and kayaks are available for renting," mentions Kimberly C. The park's lake and beach area provide water access without the extreme crowds found at some other facilities.

Organized entertainment: Canal Fulton Canoe Livery & Campground offers camping near town activities. "In town camping...from mini golf, nearby ice cream, canoe rentals, volleyball, and even a playground for the little kids," reports Brannon M., making it a convenient base for families seeking structured activities.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campers appreciate the well-maintained bathrooms at Findley State Park. "Shower houses are clean," notes Kimberly C., who enjoyed hiking the trails. The park maintains its facilities despite high visitor numbers during peak season.

Spacious sites: Maple Lakes Campground receives consistent praise for site spacing. "Plenty of grass and good spacing between the sites," comments Tracy L., who appreciated the "beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches." This spacing provides privacy often lacking at more crowded facilities.

Natural setting: Silver Springs Campground offers more woodland immersion than many alternatives. "It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night," shares Kate W., highlighting the reduced light pollution compared to campgrounds closer to urban areas. The setting provides a genuine outdoor experience while maintaining access to necessities.

Pet-friendly amenities: Silver Springs Campground stands out for dog owners with exceptional facilities. "There is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it," explains Kate W. This represents a significant improvement over the limited pet walking areas found elsewhere.

    What you should know

Water quality concerns: Several dog friendly campgrounds near Doylestown have water quality issues. At Willow Lake Park, "The water smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water," advises Derek N. This issue affects multiple campgrounds in the region.

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds have limited operational seasons. Maple Lakes operates "Apr 15 - Oct 1," while Findley State Park remains open year-round but with reduced winter services. Advance planning is essential for late-season camping.

Reservation systems vary: Willow Lake Park has technological limitations affecting reservations. "They don't have the technology to email you a confirmation or receipt, so you either have to hope they have your reservation or call ahead to confirm," warns Brandy S., suggesting phone confirmation before arrival.

Additional fees: Some campgrounds charge for services beyond site rental. "For a prepaid fee, you can schedule an appointment to have someone come by and dump you out," explains Brandy S. about Willow Lake Park, noting the lack of full hookups despite being a large facility.

    Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers a pool with scenic views. "The pool was so nice it wasn't too crowded and the view over looking the 'lake' was so pretty," shares Traci F. This provides a controlled swimming environment compared to the natural lakes at other campgrounds.

Multiple activities: Findley State Park provides diverse recreation options. "The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating," notes Kimberly C., adding that "about half the sites are for tent or dry camping. Half have electric and a few of those have full hookups."

Wildlife awareness: Keep food secure from local wildlife at some campgrounds. "Every night we were visited by raccoons, they stole our trash on the first night but the other nights we kept everything out of their reach," warns Traci F. about Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA.

Budget for extras: Plan for additional costs beyond site fees. "They have a bunch of rules about visitors, and charge you for every single person," explains Brandy S. about Willow Lake Park, noting the strict gate monitoring requiring passes for all visitors.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Caskey's Campground requires careful navigation on arrival. "The road in is really bumpy so take it slow," advises Seth P. Many regional campgrounds have similar access challenges requiring caution with larger rigs.

Electric service variations: Findley State Park offers diverse electric options. "About half the sites are for tent or dry camping. Half have electric and a few of those have full hookups," explains Kimberly C., suggesting research before booking to secure appropriate connections.

Dump station limitations: Facilities for waste disposal vary significantly. "We went to the dump station and found it was clogged and overflowing," reports Tina R. about Willow Lake Park, highlighting the importance of confirming service availability.

Advanced reservation timing: Popular weekends require significant advance planning. "If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance," advises Jeffrey L. about Findley State Park, noting how quickly sites fill during peak season.
