Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Cortland, OH

Pymatuning State Park Campground and Chestnut Ridge Park both maintain well-established pet policies for camping visitors. Pets must remain on leashes no longer than six feet throughout these facilities, with designated pet-friendly areas available across tent and RV sites. Chestnut Ridge's campsites feature grassy areas ideal for pets, while Jamestown Campground at Pymatuning offers pet-friendly cabins and glamping options alongside traditional camping. KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake welcomes dogs at their cabin sites with specific pet policies in place. Most campgrounds in the area require proof of current vaccinations, and some maintain quiet hours that help minimize barking disturbances. Campers consistently note the well-maintained grounds at Chestnut Ridge provide ample space for walking dogs without feeling crowded.

The forested areas surrounding Shenango Campground offer extensive trail networks suitable for dog walking, with multiple water access points where pets can cool off during summer months. Many sites feature direct lake access, though pet owners should be aware of local wildlife including groundhogs and herons that frequent the area. Youngstown ARS FamCamp provides level, well-manicured sites with grassy areas for pets to exercise. Ridge Ranch Family Campgrounds includes dedicated pet waste stations throughout the property. During peak summer months, early morning or evening walks are recommended to avoid hot surfaces that can damage paw pads. Nearby veterinary services are available in Hermitage and Andover for emergency care. Pet owners at lakefront sites often appreciate the ability to tie boats directly to their campsites while keeping pets nearby.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

    Goddard Park Vacationland Campground

    Near Beautiful Lake Wilhelm

Nice park with very friendly staff. My only complaint is the sites are way too crowded. Also a little uneven. I love that this park is close to Lake Wilhelm & Goddard State Park for fishing and bike riding. 2 pools and a dog park.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping

    Family and pet friendly

OverLl great campground. The sites are a little close together but we still enjoyed our time there. Staff is super friendly and there was plenty for the kids to do, pool, arcade, fishing, and playground. Decent size dog park to let your dogs run and decent trails nearby.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

Really nice."

What you should know

Site conditions vary: Many campgrounds have uneven sites that require leveling equipment. At Punderson State Park Campground, a camper warns: "The lots are not even close to level. Tips from RVers

Utility hookups: Electric amperage varies significantly between campgrounds. At Punderson State Park Campground, an RVer notes: "The park is very nice. Great Lodge. Nice lakes and cabins to rent. Early arrival recommended: Many campgrounds have specific check-in policies. At Jamestown Campground, a visitor recommends: "We really enjoyed camping at Lake Pymatuning.
