    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Two Rivers Campground

    Very Nice!

Two Rivers is a fairly new, city run campground close to I-71 and adjacent to the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers. All sites are FHU, about half of them are pull-through and all are on level pads for the rig with adjoining concrete pads with picnic tables. There is a playground for kids, a very nice bathhouse and free WiFi. We’ve stayed here on our way to and from Nashville and are doing so again this year. Can’t recommend enough!

    Oak Creek Campground

    Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Surprising City Campground

Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.

    Madison City Park

    Great Ohio River Views

This spot is perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture of the historic river town of Madison , Indiana. The campground is managed by the City of Madison and is located on prime Ohio River waterfront. The campground offers 34 class A sites; 24 have 30 amp and 10 providing 50 amp electric. Dump station available along with restrooms and showers. No tent camping allowed. Sites 1 through 18: Daily$40, Weekly$240. Sites 19 through 34: Daily$30, Weekly$180. The campground is seasonal running from April through October and reservations can be made in advance by email only madisoncampground98@yahoo.com. Sites are very close together with little privacy however; location is the trade off. You can easily walk to everything; river walk, local dining hot spots, grocery, wineries, brewery, antique stores and several historic sites. The towns architecture is not to be missed...so take a stroll around town. Many activities take place along the riverfront during the season; so plan ahead to make sure a site is available. This is not about the campground...it's all about the location.

    Versailles State Park Campground

    Nice family campground

Versailles State Park is a clean and family friendly camping destination that we enjoying visiting. There are three separate main campgrounds here; A B and C. C is our favorite because it is small, and mostly level lots (except the far end) with mature trees. B is larger with level lots, but usually crowded. A is very hit or miss as far as level sites. It’s very tight back in there, but more wooded private sites. It’s usually not too rowdy here unless you visit on a booked holiday weekend. The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler. They do sell concessions at the pool as well. There are some nice trails and a lake where you can fish and kayak. I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon. We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition! Overall the park is very nice and I would definitely recommend to camping families.

    Three Springs Campground

    Nice quiet clean place

Quiet lil place clean showers and bathrooms extremely friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you set up. (Was offered hoses and power cords if needed). I stayed in 4A and leveled with ease . It’s a back In Only but they are there with you to guide. Dog friendly which is a big bonus. Has some on site cats too. We are 36 class A but had many different sites available and some great looking primitive sites as well. We will be back to relax and get back to nature.

Convenient access to Cincinnati: 15 minutes. Winton Woods Campground provides urban camping with quick access to downtown Cincinnati. "We stayed one night at Winton Woods because it was close to friends we were visiting," shares Denise. The location allows campers to visit city attractions while maintaining a campground base.

Quiet waterfront sites: At select locations. Several campers mention the peaceful atmosphere at riverside campgrounds. "It was very quiet and peaceful. Sites were very clean," writes Lindsey S. about Tucker's Landing. These quiet areas provide respite from highway noise common at some rv parks near Cleves, Ohio.

What you should know

Train and traffic noise: Variable by location. At Northern Kentucky RV Park, approximately 30 miles from Cleves, noise can impact sleep quality. "The freeway traffic is very loud 24 hours and the train comes at least 2 times per night (2am and 5am Sunday night anyway) blowing its horn," warns Cari W. Sites farther from highways typically offer quieter surroundings.

Seasonal operations: March-November standard. Most Cleves area RV campgrounds close during winter months. Northern Kentucky RV Park operates from "March 1 to November 1" according to their listing information, making advance planning essential for off-season trips.

Limited amenities at some locations. While reviewing Hidden Valley Mobile Home Park, Daniel G. notes, "This RV park is more of a place for permanent residents... If you're looking to stay at an RV park, look elsewhere." Research specific amenities before booking at RV parks near Cleves to ensure they match your needs.

Tips for camping with families

Playground availability: Limited at smaller parks. While reviewing Tucker's Landing, Claire M. mentions, "Would love to see some more amenities in the future! Maybe a playground?!? Not much to do for the kiddos." When camping with children near Cleves, verify recreational facilities before booking.

Water activities for kids: Seasonal restrictions. Some campgrounds restrict swimming in natural bodies of water. "When we booked, no one thought to question if we could swim in the lake," notes Heather P. about Winton Woods Campground. Call ahead to confirm swimming availability during summer visits.

Cabin options: For non-RV families. Follow The River RV Resort offers cabin accommodations for families without camping equipment. "Very friendly staff. The bathrooms having regular working toilets and showers. The bathrooms are very nice. There is a pool, volleyball courts and a dog park," reports Jessica G.

Tips from RVers

Leveling considerations: Variable by campground. Concrete pads at Tucker's Landing eliminate mud concerns. "Each spot had plenty of space for activities. Each plot also has it's own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud," notes Daniel G.

Utility placements: Check before booking. At some campgrounds, sewer connections may be positioned higher than RV outlets. Sites with unusual utility arrangements may require additional equipment not mentioned in park descriptions.

Big rig access: Best at specific locations. Several campgrounds accommodate large motorhomes, but entry roads vary in quality. According to Donald J. at Three Springs Campground, "Final approach/exit to the park is very steep. Beautiful sites but fairly close together. Gravelled roads and pads surrounded by forest."
