    Virginia Beach KOA

    Great place

Great location, very close to the beach. Staff was pleasant, and accomodations were nice. Some site are a bit close to a busy road, and you get road noise. But if you ask to be in the back of park, it is quiet. Paved roads and have premium sites that are paved, with concrete pads and beautiful furniture, along with cooking fire pit. Other pull thru sites are gravel and grass. Wifi was awesome. Best yet at campsite. Very clean. Would recommend this site

    Cape Hatteras/Outer Banks KOA Resort

    Great Ocean Beach Destination

Great KOA park with one row of dunes to cross to the ocean beach that depending on your site is only about 5 min walk. The park is well kept with clean bathrooms and showers. The have laundry and a very nice camp store with groceries, camping essentials and gifts. Sites are level with full hookups including cable that worked well. Wifi is marginal but they reported they have equipment on order to improve. We had spot along the dunes with covered patio with picnic table and a fire ring (no barbeques). The beach is wonderful. Great restful destination. We will definitely return.

Guide to Powells Point

RV camping near Powells Point, North Carolina offers access to both sound and ocean experiences within the Outer Banks region. The area sits on a narrow strip of land between Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, with most campgrounds located at elevations under 10 feet above sea level. Summer temperatures typically range from 75-90°F, with high humidity creating conditions for frequent evening thunderstorms.

What to Do

Beach activities on both sides: Camp Hatteras RV Resort and Campground provides unique access to both sound and ocean beaches from a single location. "I had a great site right next to the dunes. I could hear the pounding of the surf from my van. Only a minute to get to the beach," shared one camper who enjoyed the proximity to shorelines.

Local attractions exploration: OBX Campground in Kill Devil Hills serves as a central hub for historical sites. "This campground is located in a great spot, on Colington Island technically still Kill Devil Hills. We adventured to many local attractions easily from the campground. Highly recommend 4WDing on the beach in Corolla and checking out the lighthouses," noted a visitor.

Water activities: Kayaking and fishing opportunities abound at waterfront campgrounds. "Kayaking is great. Lots of fishing. Ice cream and pizza place open in the evenings," commented a camper at North Landing Beach about the water recreation options available directly from camp.

What Campers Like

Waterfront views: North Landing Beach campsites offer premium water views. "Awesome RV sites right on the water. Sunset in your backyard. Was definitely breezy but perfect to bring the heat down a little," reported one satisfied guest who enjoyed the waterfront location.

Wildlife encounters: Natural surroundings provide opportunities to observe local fauna. "A small group of deer were hanging around our campsite when we drove up and zipped off into the tall sea grass. Once dusk fell and we were set up they came back out to graze," described a visitor to OBX Campground.

Family-friendly amenities: Camp Hatteras RV Resort and Campground offers activities for all ages. "So many amenities and fun things planned for Easter weekend. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The site is very clean and quiet. Indoor pool was great for the kids on the cool and windy weekend," noted a family who visited during a holiday.

What You Should Know

Weather considerations: The coastal location brings specific weather patterns. "Spot 380 the way to go! We got in during a tight time of year in the most sought after spot...Right on the sand just yards away from the water on the sound side. Sunset in your backyard. Was definitely breezy but perfect to bring the heat down a little," shared a camper at Camp Hatteras.

Internet reliability: Virginia Beach RV Resort offers variable connectivity. "The WiFi didn't seem to exist unless you were close to their buildings. Everyone was friendly and was a nice quiet getaway to let the kids ride bikes and fish," reported a recent visitor discussing the technology limitations.

Seasonal considerations: Summer brings crowds and requires advance planning. "We picked this site for its proximity to the beach. Site #4 was level and had full hookups. We have AT&T and Verizon and both picked up well," noted a Virginia Beach RV Resort camper.

Tips for Camping with Families

Entertainment options: Outer Banks West - Currituck Sound KOA offers multiple recreation options. "Our site had a great view of the water and we could see the Currituck lighthouse at night. Our boys enjoyed kayaking around the sound and riding their bikes to the playground. It seemed like they are working to add more amenities and upgrades," shared a family during their Outer Banks trip.

Playground access: Several campgrounds provide dedicated play areas. "Clean sites. Family oriented," noted a Sea Mist RV Campground visitor, highlighting the child-friendly environment.

Activity planning: Look for scheduled events that engage children. "This place is amazing! The staff is so friendly. We have gone a handful of times and it is our families favorite place to camp. They are always throwing special events, we cannot wait to get back here!" shared an enthusiastic North Landing Beach visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: Beechland Campground provides well-maintained facilities. "We loved this no-frills campground. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the camp host, Glenn who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The hook ups all looked new and this may have been the cleanest camp ground I've ever stayed at," reported a satisfied RV camper.

Location convenience: Proximity to attractions matters for many visitors. "Beechland is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Manteo and is only a 10-15 minute drive to Nags Head Beach," noted the same camper, highlighting the strategic location for exploring the area.

Site surface quality: Pay attention to pad construction when booking. "The sites are large and there is plenty of room for slide outs and the two vehicles you are permitted to have on site," shared a camper at OBX Campground, describing the practical aspects of the RV sites.
