    Wishing Well

    Good Location for Economy Minded

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September 2019. We don’t have kids, so we didn’t need amenities to entertain them. There is no pool, or playground, but there is a large area to walk your pets. Yes, they are PET FRIENDLY.
It’s not a large RV campground, with only 34 back-in sites. You do have FULL HOOKUPS. The owner is very friendly and is easy to work with. He keeps the grounds neat and the showers and restrooms clean. You are only 10 minutes to Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. Also, North Myrtle Beach is only 25 minutes away. They close December 15th, until sometime in spring.
If you are just trying to get a place in the area and don’t need a lot of campground amenities, I would recommend this place to you. We’ll definitely be going back.

North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina

Great Amenities - Quiet off season

We camped here in our 34 travel trailer. We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great.

The place is VERY quiet in the off season. We didn’t have any neighbors in the surrounding spots.

The pool area looks super nice, but it was a little to chilly for us to spend any time in the pool. The hot tub however was a great way to end our work days! There are plenty of showers and two laundry rooms. Both are very nice and clean. There’s a small arcade which was fun too.

Check in was super easy. We were very late and they accommodated us. The staff is polite and friendly.

The site is great. Concrete pad makes for super quick and easy leveling set up. There’s a fire pit and picnic table. The spots next to us are “premium” so they have a little pavilion over their table.

The dog park is small and definitely geared towards smaller dogs. It has a cute agility type course set up. Our GSD felt a little to big for the dog park, but we made it work.

    Ocean Lakes Family Campground

    Nice beachside campground

One big campground with a lot of amenities. Nice people. Good size sites with concret pads and patio that accommodate larger rigs but the roads between the sites can be tight. Kid and pet friendly. Wish it had a dog park. Very large camp store, large laundry facility and water park. Very fairly price considering the he amenities. We’ll be back.

A large grassy area is available for pets (must be leashed).

Reservations can be made by calling (843) 902-9090.

    Huntington Beach State Park Campground

    Awesome campground!

Absolutely beautiful park. Well maintained facilities and lots to do. Within easy walking distance were hiking trails, Atalayah'castle'(great tour), nature center and estuary walk, gift shop/ visitors center, lots of hiking trails, and the beach! We walked everywhere but bikes would be awesome. We were in site 113 on the back loop- those sites(back loop) were super private and very well spaced out for privacy- the most private sites I've ever seen at a state park. Wifi was good near the bathrooms, but not at our site, so if you need wifi go towards the bathrooms. We camped at Huntington Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Myrtle Beach State Park Campground

Quiet wooded park on the beach, but so close to Myrtle Beach!

This State Park is in one of the best locations we’ve seen. Nestled in a huge wooded setting, set back from the beach. It doesn’t feel like you are just 15min from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle beach. There is a bike track for easy access to the shopping complex across from the entrance to the State Park. Its 15min from Murrels Inlet(great seafood places!)

The State Park has its own fishing pier and you can walk to Mtryle using the beach! There is an entrance fee for visitors to the Park which keeps traffic down (fee not payable if camping). It is also gated from 10pm to 6am.

Most sites have some privacy between them. Half the sites are full hookup, the other having electric and water. Most sites can fit a travel trailer or larger, with a few sites towards the front of the park reserved for tents (or tiny trailers only). The amenities although older, are clean. Decent size laundry which takes $2 of quarters. Cell service (Sprint) was ok, however the parks WIFI is poor, especially toward the back of the park, do not rely on it. Even in the off season(December) they said it was also due to so many people using it.

Fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Firewood for sale at the camp store for $15 a bundle. Summer it wouldn't work at all. Will definitely stay again.

    Ocean Lakes Family Campground

    Convenient and Great Amenities

We just finished our stay at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC. We enjoyed it and will return.

Cons: no shade, sites really tight, a lot of golf carts zooming around, internet flakey - if you could stay connected it was good, site not level

Pros: right on the beach, a ton of amenities - including potable water, affordable for being on the beach with full hookup (e,w,s,c,i), concrete pad available, super easy to get to (it has its own intersection redlight).

Guide to Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach sits at the southern tip of North Carolina's Brunswick County where coastal campers enjoy mild winters and warm summer temperatures averaging 85°F. Most RV sites near Sunset Beach maintain year-round operations, with several campgrounds positioned along the Intracoastal Waterway. Atlantic beaches are typically within a 5-15 minute drive from nearby camping locations.

What to do

Water activities on the Intracoastal: The Hideaway RV Park sits directly on the Intracoastal Waterway about 15 minutes from ocean beaches. "Right on the Intercoastal waterway! Great spaces with plenty of room. Full hookups, very clean and well kept!" notes Alan. The campground offers fishing opportunities with "a fishing pier to main waterway and fishing pond," according to Derek C.

Golf cart explorations: Many campgrounds accommodate golf carts for local travel. At Barefoot RV Resort, "golf kart friendly to all local eating and show places, grocery stores and more..." reports Fred R. This allows easy access to nearby attractions without moving your RV.

Vineyard visits: Unique to the area, CarrollWoods RV Park at Grapefull Sisters Vineyard combines camping with wine tasting. "If you visit, you must get one of their wine floats," suggests Nancy C. The campground features "a winery with taste testing hours and wine to purchase," adds Robert M.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Campers consistently praise the generous site spacing at several campgrounds near Sunset Beach. At Willow Tree RV Resort, "the sites are huge and along the lake where I camped, they are angled so that you don't really see much of your neighbors," notes Rose S. The resort features "large lots with nice long pull through, clean and quiet with a friendly staff," according to Ramona K.

Concrete pads: Level sites with concrete pads are highly valued by campers. "All concrete sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp service. Gated and safe. As soon as a camper pulls out, they pressure wash every site as needed," reports Josh D. about Barefoot RV Resort. The concrete pads provide stability in all weather conditions.

Beach access options: Proximity to beaches remains important. S & W RV Park offers "reasonably priced during peak season" sites with "quiet site, not a lot on amenities, but nice wooded areas, friendly staff, and 20 minutes to Holden beach, 20 minutes to Southport," according to Lauren D.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Winter brings both advantages and challenges. At Hideaway RV Park, "It's prone to flooding in the winter season and you may need to move sites. With all the upgrades, there are a lot of new rules like no patio mats so the grass can grow," explains Candy H. Travelers should prepare for potential weather-related adjustments during winter stays.

Various alcohol policies: Unlike many area RV parks, S & W RV Park prohibits alcohol. This rule differs from campgrounds like Hideaway RV Park and Barefoot RV Resort, which allow alcohol consumption at campsites.

Campground rules: Some resorts implement strict regulations. Briarcliffe RV Resort "has a ton of rules with fines to go along with them, but don't be alarmed they are all completely reasonable and are there to maintain the look and feel of the campground," explains Kyle D. Research campground policies before arrival to avoid unexpected restrictions.

Tips for camping with families

Beach shuttle services: Some campgrounds provide beach transportation. At Holden Beach RV Campground, "a free trolly takes you to the beach and some restaurants," notes Taissa K., making beach days easier with children.

Pool options: Specialized swimming areas benefit families with varying swimming abilities. At Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, "There are 4 pools and a water park for the kids. During the summer weekends they provide pool service for drinks which is really nice," reports Deb P. The pools include "one for kids with a slide & lazy river and one more for adults/quieter activities," adds Jessica D. about Barefoot RV Resort.

Activity variety: Family-oriented campgrounds offer structured entertainment. At Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, "the staff providing activities, especially on the weekends" keeps families engaged throughout their stay. The resort has "indoor pools, outdoor pools, waterslide, putt putt, bowling alley, and an arcade," according to Michele P.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Despite concrete pads, some sites require additional leveling. At Barefoot RV Resort, "Our site was concrete but in no way level, we had to use our leveling blocks to keep our auto leveling system from lifting wheels on our class c," explains Kyle D. Bring leveling blocks even when staying at resorts with concrete pads.

Internet connectivity: Remote workers should check connectivity options. At North Myrtle Beach RV Resort, "We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great," reports Ariel F. CarrollWoods offers reliable service where "T-mobile phone and hotspot work well, ATT hotspot ok," according to Robert M.

Utility considerations: Water quality varies between campgrounds. One reviewer notes Briarcliffe RV Resort "had dirty drinking water which is a big problem." When traveling with an RV near Sunset Beach, consider bringing water filters or bottled water for drinking.
