Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

Yogi Bears Jellystone Park Camp Resort at Mexico

    Unfortunate

Pros: river is awesome, wading, catching crayfish, cooling off. Staff were consistently friendly. Sites were flat, easy to level travel trailer. Plenty of kid activities, foam party, obstacle course, balloon launch, etc. Large store. Game room. Bathrooms (at least near the playground) were spacious, with toilet, sink, shower. Cons: signs/photo ops were crooked/loose/broken. Planted annual flowers were dead, overgrown with weeds. Miniature golf holes were falling apart. Bounce pad had a hole in it. The sand from around the edge was blowing from that hole into kids eyes, nose, mouth. Bathrooms were dirty; each has a 2-roll toilet paper dispenser; by early evening two stalls had zero TP left. Tent sites had used toilet paper along the tree line where others had used it as a bathroom. Fire pits were old tire rims, which worked, but unable to cook anything on it

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

Bluff Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park

Shaded camping with Great Lake access

I booked this site for one night and ended up staying three. Trying to avoid the heat, I was relieved that the shaded electric camping area staved off most of the days heat. I was in site 63 the first night and 68 the other two. 63 has more shade but 68 is right next to the bathroom and water spout if that’s important. I was able to find shade.

Some people may find the sites too close together, I didn’t mind since I’m solo camping and feel a bit of safety with closer neighbors. The loop was majority RVs and campers but it was still quiet all night and until late morning.

The showers and bathrooms are mostly clean and well stocked and there is a dedicated sink outside the building for dishes.

What I really loved is how far into the park the camping is, you’re really surrounded by woods. There is also excellent and easy access to Lake Ontario.

The park store has firewood, ice, and lots of other items like corn hole for rent. There is also a small boat shanty for boat rentals.

    SutterCreek Campground

    Close to the Ren Fest.

Sutter Creek is a 4 minute drive to the Renaissance Festival. The camp was very quiet and the owners were friendly and helpful. The activity room is for seasonal people only. The showers get locked at night, so prepare to showers in the AM. There are swings and a tether ball for the kids. Golf carts look to be welcome there, but it's not that big.

Streamside RV Park & Golf Course

    Great place!

This is a privately owned very nice campground! The owners take pride in their business and the grounds are meticulously kept. Everyone here is a golfer and there are no children.

Guide to Wolcott

Camping spots near Wolcott, New York offer varying levels of access to Lake Ontario's shoreline with campsites nestled among drumlins—distinctive oval-shaped hills formed by glacial movements. The regional camping season typically runs mid-April through October, with peak visitation occurring in July and August when daytime temperatures average 75-85°F. Sites at lakeside campgrounds can experience strong winds, especially during fall season.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Sterling Pond at Fair Haven Beach State Park provides excellent catch-and-release fishing separate from Lake Ontario access. "Great fishing pond. Sandy beach and friendly people," notes one camper about Lakeview Camping Area.

Renaissance Festival trips: SutterCreek Campground serves as a convenient base for Renaissance Festival attendees. One visitor explains, "Sutter Creek is a 4 minute drive to the Renaissance Festival. The camp was very quiet and the owners were friendly and helpful." Some campers coordinate with management to camp near other festival-goers.

Hiking trail exploration: Multiple trail networks wind through Fair Haven Beach State Park, connecting camping areas to beaches and wooded sections. "There is access to park trails. A very nice sand beach on the lake," comments a camper at Bluff Camping Area. Several trails lead to secluded areas of Lake Ontario that remain less crowded even during peak season.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Bluff Camping Area offers roomier campsites compared to other loops. "Spacious sites, not all are enclosed with trees but still plenty of room to spread out, we had two tents, two cars, a boat & a pop up table over tent and had plenty of room," one camper describes.

Clean facilities: The shower buildings and bathrooms receive frequent maintenance. "Showers were super clean & wicked spacious," mentions a Bluff Camping Area visitor. Another camper at Drumlin B Camping Area adds, "The campsites are good size and give you privacy."

Kid-friendly activities: Campgrounds provide structured activities and recreation options. At Lake Bluff RV Park, "Kids activities are great. Even with COVID they have stuff to keep them busy," a visitor notes. Another mentions, "Near the playground they have a nice game room pool, air hockey, video games. There is a change machine too."

What you should know

Seasonal restrictions: Campgrounds in the area operate with limited seasons. Cherry Grove Campground runs April 15 to October 15, while Lake Bluff RV Park operates April 15 to October 31. Water systems are typically winterized by late October.

Varying privacy levels: Site privacy differs significantly between camping loops. A visitor to Drumlin A Camping Area observes, "The sites were very large and private. The swimming area was a bit of a walk, but was worth it."

Water advisories: Temporary water quality notices sometimes affect the region. One camper reported, "When we were there the city was under a water advisory—all water had to be boiled before any kind of use." Bringing additional water containers during peak summer is recommended.

Tips for camping with families

Bike-friendly roads: Internal campground roads provide safe cycling opportunities. "My boys love riding their bikes," comments a Drumlin B visitor. Most campground loops feature flat terrain suitable for beginner riders.

Playground access: Multiple play areas exist throughout the camping regions. "Great place to camp or even go for the day. Beach is a nice place to go and relax. Also can walk the pier," notes a Drumlin A camper.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: The lake-pond ecosystem attracts diverse birds and animals. "Swans are everywhere even though they are not native to the area. My grand kids love to fish on the pond and then go to the huge beach at the lake," shares a visitor at Pond Shore Cabin Area.

Tips from RVers

Seasonal sites available: Many campgrounds maintain a high percentage of seasonal occupants. "Most of the campground is seasonal, but all of the campers were friendly," notes a Cherry Grove visitor. This creates a community atmosphere but reduces availability for short-term stays.

Site leveling challenges: Terrain in non-electric areas can make leveling difficult. "The non-electric sites were pretty much all on hilly areas, most would be impossible for an RV to get level, though there were a few that would have worked," reports a Fair Haven Beach State Park visitor.

Utility connections: Electric service varies between 30-amp and 50-amp depending on campground section. Lake Bluff RV Park and Duck Lake Cabins offer various hookup options. Most RV-suitable sites feature gravel pads rather than paved surfaces.
