Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wolcott, NY

Several RV parks dot the Lake Ontario shoreline near Wolcott, New York, providing excellent options for motorhome travelers. Lake Bluff RV Park offers full hookup sites with both 30 and 50 amp electrical service, operating from April 15 to October 31. The park features spacious sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and access to a sanitary dump station. Just minutes away, Port Bay Camping and RV Park provides 40 sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups during their mid-April to mid-October season. For those seeking more amenities, Shady Shores Campground accommodates 90 RVs with big-rig friendly sites and complete hookups including 30/50 amp service. "Sites have a weird thing with one electric post per two sites... bring an extension cord," notes one traveler about camping in the region.

Reservations are strongly recommended throughout the Finger Lakes region, particularly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Most RV parks in the area are pet-friendly, though specific restrictions may apply. Cell service varies by location, with Verizon and T-Mobile generally providing reliable coverage. South Shore RV Park in Sodus Point stands out as one of the few year-round options, offering big-rig friendly sites with full hookups even during winter months. Daily trash pickup is available at select parks, with Finger Lakes RV Resort specifically mentioned for this convenient service. RV campers should note that while most parks offer sanitary dump stations, not all sites include sewer hookups, so planning ahead for waste management is essential. Propane is typically available for purchase on-site, and many parks sell firewood bundles to comply with regulations against transporting wood between locations.

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Camping near Canandaigua, New York

Campers exploring the Canandaigua area discover a delightful mix of lakeside retreats, wooded state parks, and family-friendly RV resorts. Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. A short drive farther out leads to Keuka Lake State Park Campground and the privately owned Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, both of which feature spacious sites, clean facilities, and excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing on the Finger Lakes. For those seeking a quieter experience, numerous backcountry and dispersed sites are tucked into the surrounding National Forest, where campers can truly unplug—though it’s essential to bring all necessary supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill and the Stay Bristol Woodlands campground blend rustic charm with modern comforts: well-maintained restrooms, picnic shelters, and on-site hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and offer scenic overlooks, especially stunning during fall foliage season. Travel logistics are a breeze when visitors prearrange an airport shuttle from Rochester or Syracuse airports, ensuring a smooth transition from plane to campsite. And for adventurers mapping out multiple stops across the Finger Lakes or beyond, reliable multi-city transfers provide comfortable, door-to-door rides—no rental car necessary. With its blend of waterfront sites, wooded hideaways, and nearby attractions—wineries, waterfalls, and historic villages—the Canandaigua region truly has something for every type of camper. Whether pitching a tent under the stars or rolling in with an RV, visitors will find endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

    Keuka Lake State Park Campground

    Wonderful Finger Lakes Camping

Large grassy sites with privacy between the sites. Most sites have a good level gravel pad to park on.

We stayed in the non-electric loop with a small travel trailer, but there are electric sites available. Spigots for water are spaced well enough that with a few lengths you can fill up.

The hike to the beach wasn't too bad through the woods, with ones being a grassy walking path and the other being a dirt trail through the woods. The beach is typically crowded.

This is a place I would always recommend.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Creek n wood

Peaceful getaway, family and pet friendly

This is a private campground located in Bloomfield, NY right on the Mud Creek. Located close to shopping, wineries, hiking, and concert events. Call for reservation, then they use text to send reservation form, confirmation form and site map. $20 gets you a bucket full of campfire wood delivered directly to your campsite! A pavilion on site offers a sink and refrigerator to use ( must label with name) , FREE games ( pool table, foosball, cards, Cornhole, etc). Don't feel like bringing/ setting up the grill? They have you covered.... Use their full size grills on site! While they have several showers to use, I only found one flush toilet for the ladies to use ( large area but no door or curtain) however, there are Port a pottys to use as well. Sites have picnic table, fire ring, Adirondack chairs, water and electric hookup, and a dump station to use on your way out. If you stay for an extended period, they offer free emptying at your site. Turtle visits are complimentary as well.

Guide to Wolcott

Wolcott, New York sits along the southern shore of Lake Ontario at an elevation of about 400 feet, with surrounding terrain characterized by drumlins and small bays. The camping season typically runs from mid-April through October, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F during peak months. Winter snowfall often exceeds 100 inches annually, making off-season camping rare except at select year-round facilities.

What to do

Lake Ontario fishing trips: The waters near Woonton Family Farms offer excellent canoeing opportunities with natural surroundings. "We had a great campfire, fresh blackberries and the option of canoeing. Close to the nice village Skaneateles," notes one international visitor.

Waterfall exploration: Within a 15-minute drive of Wolcott, Salmon River Falls provides impressive views. "One staff member Mike told us about Salmon River Falls. We went and it is a 'must see' while there," reports a camper from Brennan Beach Campground.

Hiking at Chimney Bluffs: These unique erosion formations are minutes away from Lake Bluff RV Park. One camper states, "Just around the corner from chimney bluff state park which are a must see!" The dramatic lakeside cliffs offer photography opportunities year-round.

What campers like

Private camping experiences: Smaller sites provide a different experience than typical campgrounds. "It was a cozy and beautiful campsite with personal attention of the owner. It was a welcome difference from the common/look-alike campgrounds everywhere else," writes a visitor at Woonton Family Farms.

Clean, updated facilities: Finger Lakes RV Resort receives consistent praise for maintenance. "The bath house is immaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort," notes a reviewer who adds, "This is a family owned campground and the owners were very friendly and took pride in their business."

Daily conveniences: Unlike many campgrounds in the region, on-site trash collection stands out to campers. "They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling," mentions a visitor, appreciating this often-overlooked service.

What you should know

Seasonal variations: Many RV parks near Wolcott operate only April through October. "This is a delightful location... we booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day," reports a guest at Finger Lakes RV Resort, highlighting the importance of advance planning during holiday weekends.

Site layout considerations: At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach," cautions one RVer who "changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."

Beach access restrictions: Not all lakefront campgrounds allow full beach access. Some sites limit dogs on beaches, and waterfront sites often book months in advance during summer weekends.

Tips for camping with families

Speed-controlled environments: Some campgrounds strictly enforce driving rules to protect playing children. "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store," notes a parent at Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort.

Activity planning during COVID restrictions: While most facilities have returned to normal operations, some campers experienced limitations. "Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, there is to be no interaction with other campers and a mask must be worn when walking around campground. Everything for the kids was closed due to social distancing," reported a visitor at Lake Bluff RV Park during pandemic restrictions.

Weekend programming: Several campgrounds offer organized activities. "They do events for kids every weekend," mentions a repeat visitor to Lake Bluff RV Park, making it easier to keep children entertained.

Tips from RVers

Extension cord requirements: Some campgrounds have unusual electrical setups requiring additional equipment. Bring longer power cords when camping in the Wolcott area, as electrical posts may service multiple sites.

Site selection strategy: For those seeking quiet, South Shore RV Park in nearby Sodus Point offers a "Quite campground, well maintained, clean bathhouse," according to a recent camper, with year-round availability for winter camping enthusiasts.

Leveling preparation: Bring extra leveling blocks when RV camping near Wolcott, New York. Multiple reviewers mention uneven sites throughout the region, particularly at older campgrounds still developing their infrastructure.
