Best Cabin Camping near Orchard Park, NY

Cabin rentals in the greater Buffalo region include rustic accommodations at Colden Lakes Resort and lakefront units at Darien Lakes State Park Campground. Basic cabins provide essential furnishings with beds, electricity, and varying levels of kitchen facilities. Most include picnic tables and fire rings outside, while interiors range from simple bunkhouses to more elaborate setups with refrigerators and microwaves. "This is a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. Our site was a level gravel back in site," noted one visitor about Colden Lakes Resort. Some properties feature cabin clusters with shared bathhouse facilities, while others offer private bathrooms with showers in each unit.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Jellystone Park of Western New York and Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday provide standardized cabin options with predictable amenities. Most require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when occupancy reaches peak levels. Pet policies vary by property - Colden Lakes Resort allows pets in select cabins while others maintain pet-free units for allergy-sensitive guests. A visitor mentioned: "The cabins are totally worth spending the money on. The pool is nice, they have a nice restaurant and cute peacocks."

Most cabin rentals provide beds with mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, sleeping bags, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary widely - some offer only outdoor cooking options while others include basic indoor cooking equipment. On-site camp stores at locations like Six Flags Darien Lake Campground stock essentials, though selection is limited and prices higher than town markets. Several cabins feature climate control with heating systems for spring and fall use, extending the traditional camping season. Winter cabin availability is limited, with Letchworth State Park offering one of the few year-round cabin options within reasonable driving distance of Orchard Park.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Field Camping

It's not all bad! It took a while to find our site in the dark as site markers are small. The sites are decent size, the bathrooms are clean but spiders will hang out. Showers are hot. Sites are available with electric and there is an RV dump station if you have one. There are a lot of RVs at this campground, a large playground, and a field with soccer goals (no net). Niagara Falls is 15 or so miles away, and Buffalo NY is a short drive. The bathroom building has an outdoor sink with heated water, and this is also where the trash bins are.  Firewood is available in front of many nearby homes (a couple of miles, max,and $4-5 a bundle). The fire pits are either low or leaning, so we found a camp stove to be essential. It can get quite windy, we saw a tent buckle and our stakes were pulled up from the wind. It can get loud at night and it doesn't seem as if quiet hours are enforced. I'd stay again but only if a more private campground was unavailable.

    Evangola State Park Campground

    Great campground

We stayed here three nights to ride out a heat wave and really liked it. Sites are electric only, with a dump station available at the entrance and one in the campground loop. There are potable water spigots throughout the campground, where you awkwardly pull over to the side of the road and fill your tank. Sites are pretty much wide open, with zero separation between you and your neighbor. Most are out in direct sun but the ones along the edge have some tree cover and shade.

There are yurts here as well, and a playground, and a huge disc golf course. You can walk to the beach from the campground (dogs aren’t allowed on the beach). The nature center is right in the campground, by the basketball and tennis courts.

Showers were dirty and buggy, but they’re free and you can actually choose your own water temperature. NY State campgrounds require proof of rabies vaccinations for your dogs.

Good cell reception for Verizon, ATT wasn’t great but the cell booster helped. Trash bins, but no recycling. Beautiful sunset on the lake.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Good Camping inside the Park

The campgrounds are conveniently located inside the Park so easy to get to the amazing falls towards the south as well as the dam in the north. We were in loop 300 which does not allow pets. Decent bathhouses right opposite our site. Our site was a gravel drive with a grassy area containing the picnic table and fire ring. Unfortunately due to rain the day before the grass was extremely muddy which make it hard to get to the fire ring. There was also white a lot of noise from adjacent sites, we could hear everyone's conversations and screaming kids. There was a laundry facility but no dishwashing.

Location convenience: Evangola State Park Campground sits directly on Lake Erie, providing waterfront access. "It was very cool that you could hear the waves at night," mentions one camper. The property connects to beach areas through hiking trails, though some note "the beach area had a lot of trash laying around."

Cabin furnishings: While most cabins include beds, guests typically need to bring linens, pillows and sleeping bags. The more elaborate units at HTR Niagara include comprehensive setups. Jellystone Park's water facilities receive particular praise: "They made recent additions that are awesome. The added a new section of premium sites (pull-thru and back-in), they added a beach to their pond and allow swimming."
