Best RV Parks & Resorts near Holliday, MO

Several RV parks surround Holliday, Missouri, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers. Cottonwoods RV Park & Campground in Columbia offers 83 full hookup sites with 30/50 amp service and remains open year-round. The gravel pads are notably long, accommodating large rigs with ease. Indian Creek RV Park near Monroe City features full hookup sites nestled in wooded surroundings, while Backbone Ridge RV Park provides 28 sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. Mark Twain Lake Jellystone Park operates seasonally from March to September with full hookup options for RVs. "The gravel pad was very long and we had plenty of room for our 40' rig and F450. The utilities were in the middle of the pad and water pressure was decent at about 40 psi," noted one Cottonwoods visitor.

Advance reservations are recommended for most RV parks in the region, particularly during summer months when Mark Twain Lake attracts numerous visitors. Most campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations, though Cedar Creek Resort & RV Park notably lacks this amenity. Verizon coverage varies across the area, with Cottonwoods reporting strong 4-bar service while other locations may have limited connectivity. Pull-through sites are common at several parks, though availability depends on occupancy levels. Many RV campgrounds accommodate pets, but Cedar Creek Resort explicitly prohibits them. Winter camping options are limited primarily to Cottonwoods and Shoemaker RV Park in Bevier, both offering year-round access with full hookups for cold-weather RV camping.

    Good for a short stay.

Making reservations: We made reservations a few weeks in advance (glad we did). We received an email with the site and instructions, which included calling to make final payment. This one, like many private parks, has limited office hours. So, catching them while they were in the office took a few tries.

The park: That all said, the experience in the park was fine. Beautiful tree canopy covers the whole park, tiny playground for the kids at the back of the park, etc. There was plenty of space between sites for our tow vehicle and 37’ 5th wheel with 3 slide outs. Utilities were close (50/30/20, water, sewer). Pull through sites if nobody is slotted in front/behind (you pull through one site to get to the other). No branches in our way (we are 12’7” tall). This park is a combo of mobile homes, transient RVs and long term RVs.

Surrounding area: There is a gas station right up the road although it was too busy / small for us so we went back toward the main Highway where there are two big ones to choose from with plenty of space to turn. Seems to be the gateway to the Ozarks for gassing up, so plenty of space and stuff.

    Cottonwoods RV Park & Campground

    Very Nice Campground

Check-in was quick and easy and we proceeded to pull through site 83 with FHUs. The gravel pad was very long and we had plenty of room for our 40’ rig and F450. The utilities were in the middle of the pad and water pressure was decent at about 40 psi. As we were on the end of a row, we had a lot of front yard space. The sites here are very close together, but long-term guests kept their sites nice and well organized, and overall this CG was very clean. There are mature trees so satellite placement could be challenging. We were able to place our Starlink in the yard area for a good shot to the north sky. We got 4 bars on Verizon and their WiFi worked well for a campground of this size. At the office, they have a nice store and gift shop with one of the best selections of camping shirts etc. that we have seen.

    Long Branch State Park Campground

    Great Walk-In Campgrounds

The walk-in campgrounds (it's about a 50 foot walk from the parking lot to each site) at Long Branch are located off in their own little area at the shore of the lake that offers some pretty good isolation. Although we went at a time when the water was still shut off, there are bathrooms and water available via a very short walk from the walk-in sites April 1-Oct 31. The sites are each very spacious with flat areas and material already laid out for pitching a tent and plenty of trees for throwing up a hammock. Although firewood was stated to be available year round from the vending machine, it was locked up when we went through, but there is a convenience store right across the highway from the lake that sells wood bundles and anything else you might need.

We really enjoyed our time here and we'll definitely be coming back in the warmer months to enjoy some swimming and boating.

    Frank Russell Campground

    Nice stay

This was a 1 night stay while getting to the east coast. Most impressed by how perfectly level our paved parking pad was. We didn’t have to level the rv or even unhook it from the truck. Very few campers as some sections were closed, peaceful & quiet evening. Shady site with picnic table and fire ring. Restrooms were clean-ish (we are camping, right?), they could use a fresh coat of paint and soap dispensers. Showers were fine. Used their dump station and filled the water tank as we exited the park. Would recommend & would stay there again

Wakonda Lake Campground — Wakonda State Park

    Convenient stop

Looking for an overnight stay on a long road trip. Park is close to highway, fairly empty on a Monday night. Easy pull through site close to lake. Quiet. Bathhouse nothing fancy, could have been cleaner. Easy access to dump station. Staff very friendly.

Badger — Mark Twain State Park

    Badger Loop

A group of us stayed on the Badger loop. Each has gravel pads with electric, picnic table, lantern pole and fire ring. Plenty of buffer between sites and quiet. Clean showers, park programs for kids and friendly camp host. We enjoyed driving over to Mark Twain’s birth place and shrine and antiquing in Perry.

    Lakeview Park - Mexico

    Quiet RV/City Park

We camped in a 32' Class C for 7 days during the Miss Missouri Pageant. It's a quite little park with maybe 15-20 sites with electric only. There is potable water and sewer dump on site. So W of the sites could be considered pull through depending if you have a neighbor or not. Some of the camp sites are arranged like a standard parking lot where you back in or pull in nose to nose or bumper to bumper depending on your type of rig. There is a fair amount of shade. The RV park is also the city park so there is a fair amount of traffic in and out during the day but not too bad. There is a playground area, bicycle /walking path as well as public flush toilets and a pavilion. It worked perfectly for our needs.
