Sakatah Lake State Park Campground, located in Waterville, accommodates RV camping with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups. The park operates from April to October with pull-through sites available for larger vehicles, though space can be limited for oversized rigs. "Very nice park if your RV is not too big. I put our 38 foot 5th wheel in a site but you better be on your game here. Lots of shade and big trees," noted one visitor. Crystal Springs RV Resort in Ellendale provides full hookup RV sites with concrete pads approximately 60 feet long, while Kamp Dels offers family-oriented RV camping with hookups. Some sites at these parks feature level pads with utilities positioned mid-site, making connections straightforward for most motorhomes.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for all RV parks in the region, especially during summer weekends and fall color season. Most area campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations, with Crystal Springs and Dakotah Meadows offering on-site sewer hookups at individual sites. Cell service varies throughout the area, with T-Mobile users reporting one bar of LTE at some locations. During spring camping, muddy conditions can affect site access at certain parks. Pet policies are generally accommodating, but with standard leash requirements. For RVs requiring propane, services are limited at the parks themselves, though nearby towns provide refill options. Winter camping options are restricted, with Town & Country Campground among the few offering year-round access for motorhomes.

White Fox Campground — Myre-Big Island State Park

      Nice state park

This is a rustic state park with limited amenities. There are no water or electric hook ups. However clean water is available in the park. The park does have flush toilets and showers. We found these to be in good condition and clean. The showers had warm water. The water stream is on a timer and so are the lights. The shower stalls are Individual stalls. The interior roads are dirt roads with a few potholes they are very narrow. The camping sites are nice sized and relatively private. There is a gravel pad on each site and some have a tent pad. Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring. There are plenty of walking and biking trails and there are walk-in tent camp sites. However, you cannot see the lake from the campground and there is no access to the lake from the campground. We were able to drive through the campground with our 40 foot fifth wheel. But just barely, be careful!

      Land of Memories Campground

Large park and campground with much to do!

The park here has a Frisbee golf course as well as soccer fields and a trail system that wraps the campground and park. In the campground, the spots are plentiful, especially if you winter camp like I do. There are accommodations for any size camper, including pull through locations for big rigs. This campground offers electric and non electric sites. The spots with the most privacy are here by the river. Other spots inside the park are more exposed. If you kayak, there's also a boat ramp! I'd recommend that anyone looking to visit minneopa come here if you have a large rig. The logistics are far easier here, and you're still close to the bison.

      Fish Lake Acres Campground

      Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

      Lebanon Hills Regional Park

      Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

      Albert Lea-Austin KOA

      Peaceful

In the middle of corn and bean fields..very peaceful! Open camp sites some shaded and pull through. Big rig friendly. Pool was closed for repair on our visit but looked like nice sized pool. Staff was welcoming and grounds were clean.  Drive over to Austin and visit the Spam Museum...who knew?

      Pihls County Park

      Great for Overnight

Nice dock to walk out on. We stayed in a tent site close to the dock. We didn't need the hookup as we're in a truck camper but there are hookups available. You can pay online or there's a mailbox by the bathrooms where you can pick up a form to fill out, pay and drop in a locked box. There are flush toilets and shower available. Near the tent sites (which aren't numbered but there is a picnic table and fire ring) there is a vault toilet. There is potable water available at each hookup site and available to others as you enter the campground. When we were there, there were some long term campers camping. They were very nice.

      River View Campground

Our LGBT family wouldn't stay here again

First of all, the good - we appreciated the campground being able to accommodate our last-minute reservation. The bathrooms and showers were small but nice, and my kids liked the playground. Full hookups. They also have a camp store that seemed well-stocked, and an activity room for weekly Bingo, etc.

The bad - while the long term sites were pretty, level, and relatively private, our site was definitely none of those. Very unlevel gravel and mud and very close to our neighbors. We were excited for the laundry room but they had to shut it down because of a leak, and the clothes we did wash didn't seem to come out clean. Finally, our LGBTQ family didn't feel very comfortable because of the amount of conservative paraphernalia displayed by both the owners/staff and some of the other visitors.

Overall, our family wouldn't stay here again.

      Dakotah Meadows RV Park

      Nice modern campground

Many pull through sites available - most of which you pull through to face another site - great if you are camping with friends and want to share the area. Full hook up sites at a reasonable rate. Secure shower/bathhouses and a large play park for kids. There is an RV wash station and fuel pumps on-site. Shuttle bus comes through the camp if you want to go to the casino and play- it’s also within walking distance.

    What campers like

Secluded camping spots: Nerstrand Big Woods State Park offers sites with good tree coverage. "We reserved sites 2 and 4. Though they were right next to each other, they felt very secluded. Site 4 felt a bit more private from the main road because the campsite slightly slopes downward," shared a visitor to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park Campground.

Wildlife viewing: Several parks offer opportunities to observe native wildlife. At Minneopa State Park, "the hike was enjoyable while we were there... we were able to see the bison herd once we got to the mill area," according to one reviewer.
