Best RV Parks & Resorts near Otsego, MN

Several RV parks near Otsego provide full-service accommodations with varying amenities. Country Camping RV Park features spacious sites with 50-amp electric hookups, water, and sewer connections on the Rum River, operating seasonally from May through October. St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park offers motorhome sites with big-rig-friendly access and full hookups, remaining open until mid-October. RiversEdge RV Park provides concrete patios at each site with crushed granite drives leading to riverside RV pads. Many parks maintain gravel sites that accommodate larger rigs, with St. Cloud Campground offering both boat and drive-in access. "We arrived at 2pm on a Friday afternoon and were shocked to find just two open spots. The road into the park and within the campground is awful, so especially if you're in an RV or towing a trailer, be prepared to move very slowly."

Seasonal operations affect availability throughout the region, with most RV parks closing by mid-October. Sanitary dump stations are available at multiple locations including Baker Park Reserve and Country Camping, though Mississippi Riverwood RV Park primarily serves long-term seasonal residents rather than short-stay travelers. Park amenities vary significantly between locations, with Cokato Lake RV Resort featuring 225 sites with recreational facilities including a heated pool, mini-golf, and pickleball courts. Cell coverage is generally reliable at most parks, with Verizon service noted as strong at St. Cloud-Clearwater. Pet policies differ between parks but most allow pets with proper supervision. Reservation requirements increase during summer weekends, especially for parks with water recreation access. Road conditions within some parks require careful navigation, particularly for larger motorhomes on narrow campground roads.

    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Ann Lake

    Rustic & Family Friendly

This is a great little rustic campground within an hour's drive of the Twin Cities! It has several potable water sources throughout the campground, but no running water for toilets or showers. There are several vault toilets. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. You can buy firewood & ice at the Sand Dunes Stop gas station, just a 10 minutes drive away.

This is a first-come, first-served campground, so no reservations required. This does mean that there is a chance you won't be able to get a site, but I've only had that happen one time when I got there at 6pm on a Saturday. There are usually sites available.

I love going to this campground - it's family friendly, and there is a swimming beach a quick 3 minute drive away! The hiking trails aren't half bad, either! I love coming here to relax for a weekend, spend some time at the beach, and just enjoy nature. If you go in the early to mid summer, you'll also hear local whip-poor-wills serenade you to sleep.

Overall, 4 stars. The only downsides are no running water and no ice & firewood at the campground itself.

    Spirit of Ripley

    Small and family owned

Nice large grass pads, easily accessible for big rigs! Close to the lake(mom and I went for some bike rides around the lake) and public boat access. Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring provided. All sites have power, water, and sewer hook ups.

    Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    Masonic West River Park

    Riverfront!!

Amazing campsite! Sites are large and grassy! We had a lakeview site right off the paved walking/biking trail with room for a large tent and the pop-up camper. Fire ring and picnic table provided. A man drives through the campsite close to dusk to sell firewood as there is no traditional office. Bathrooms and showers are located near the dump station and dumpster. Be on the lookout for the code for the doors during your reservation process. We had missed it and had to ask a neighbor if they knew the codes so we could shower.

Sites are close to each other, but easy access, clean grounds and facilities, friendly staff, and a K9 fenced area for a pet friendly campground.

Guide to Otsego

Otsego's riverside location along the Mississippi River creates unique camping opportunities with mostly flat terrain at elevations around 900 feet. Most campgrounds in the region remain open from early May to mid-October, with seasonal weather patterns bringing humid summers that can reach the mid-80s and cool autumn nights that drop into the 40s by late September. Several campgrounds feature specific riverfront sites with direct water access.

What to do

Tubing on the Rum River: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River offers tubing trips with shuttle service. "We have a heated pool, splash pad area, BIG playground area, indoor game room, HUGE sites! You can either relax in the pool or even take a ride down the rum river in a rented canoe, tube, or kayak," shares Spencer C.

Visiting Quarry Park: Located near St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park, this unique attraction features swimming quarries and hiking trails. "We stayed here to visit the nearby quarry park and that was a blast!" mentions Teresa O., highlighting this popular day trip option.

Wildlife watching: Baker Campground - Baker Park Reserve offers excellent bird watching opportunities along its trails. "I love birding here as well," notes Alison O., while another camper mentions the "rain garden... with its lush greenery and vibrant blooms attracting local wildlife for a truly immersive nature experience."

Mini-golf and recreation: Multiple rv parks near Otsego, Minnesota offer family recreation facilities. "It has a 9 hole mini golf, shuffleboard, salt water pool, and a lobby/gift shop. They also offer a nice seating area for those hot or raining days with free arcade," explains a visitor to St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park.

What campers like

Spacious campsites: Many RV parks in the Otsego area feature larger-than-average sites. "Large sites. Great tubing and canoeing," writes Rory T. about Country Camping, while another visitor describes the "HUGE sites" that accommodate larger vehicles.

Water features: Campgrounds with river access and pools rank highly. "The key thing is the river is very clean and sandy bottom," David G. notes about Country Camping Tent & RV Park, highlighting the swimming opportunities beyond the "heated pool, splash pad area."

Mature trees and natural settings: Campers appreciate the wooded environments at several parks. A visitor to St. Cloud-Clearwater describes "absolutely beautiful campground with mature trees. Cedars, white oaks, hickory's and more. The birds are singing and so are the kids because this place has so much to do for them."

Clean facilities: Consistently mentioned across reviews is the quality of bathrooms and showers. At Baker Campground, visitors note the "bathroom/showers are great" and describe them as "nice and clean, some of the best I've seen at a campground!"

What you should know

Reservation timing: Summer weekends fill quickly at popular campgrounds. "We arrived at Country Camping on a Friday afternoon and were shocked to find just two open spots," reports a visitor, highlighting the need to book well in advance during peak season.

Connectivity issues: WiFi quality varies significantly between RV parks in the Otsego region. At St. Cloud Campground & RV Park, one camper noted it was "the worst wifi of about 15 campgrounds we've been to on our trip this year. They warned us it was slow, but we couldn't even connect to it from our site."

Site differences: Within the same campground, site quality and privacy can vary significantly. A visitor to Baker Park explains: "The sites are about as private as the typical state park, so not very, but that is offset by all the other positives this campground has to offer."

Seasonal limitations: Most RV parks near Otsego close by mid-October. According to posted information, St. Cloud Campground operates "May 1 to Oct 10" while Baker Park Reserve runs "Apr 30 - Oct 20," providing slightly more extended season options.

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Select sites near recreational areas for convenience. At Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park Campground, one visitor notes the "awesome trails and so many deer! It's like they were camping with us," creating natural wildlife viewing opportunities for children.

Kid-friendly amenities: Campgrounds with dedicated children's areas receive high marks from families. Beasty B. shares about Country Camping: "I stayed here with my wife and 2 young children and it was fantastic great playground and heated pool the spaces were well kept and spaced apart. A ton for the kids to do!"

Beach access considerations: Baker Park offers two separate swimming beaches. "There are 2 swimming beaches: 1 for the campground and one for all of the day visitors," explains Jennifer H., noting that this separation helps manage crowds during busy periods.

Weather preparedness: Summertime stays often feature high humidity and occasional storms. One visitor reported experiencing "a TERRIBLE storm with nickel to quarter size hail" that damaged roof vent covers, highlighting the importance of weather awareness when camping with families in this region.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Many campgrounds feature relatively level sites but may have specific areas requiring adjustments. An RVer at RiversEdge RV Park notes the "concrete patios on every lot" and "crushed granite streets and drives" which facilitate easier setup.

Electric limitations: During peak summer heat, electrical systems can become strained. "We had one issue with power dropping so we had to pull the surge protector off. It was fine. Also very hot and humid so everyone was running AC to the max," reported David G., suggesting surge protection equipment for summertime RV camping.

Dump station access: Multiple facilities offer sanitary dump stations, but specific operating hours may apply. Love's RV Hookup provides convenient dump facilities for travelers along I-94, with a camper noting it's "still open in the winter! Convenient location right off I94 and HWY 23."

Off-peak advantages: Shoulder season camping offers better availability and quieter experiences. "The campground is nice and clean. Good size spaces. The tubing is a plus," noted a late-season camper, while another mentioned "during the week and busy on the weekends" as the typical pattern for occupancy.
