What you should know
Site selection matters: Terrain varies significantly between campgrounds and even within the same location. At River View Campground & Canoe Livery, "The rustic sites along the river in section 'N' were very large and spacious spots. Sections L and M seemed to be tightly packed in," explains Phil M.
Seasonal crowds: Summer weekends draw larger crowds. "The Group camping side is considered the 'Adult/Party' area. Nobody was crazy out of hand or anything to that nature, just louder music, drinking, etc.," reports Phil M. about River View Campground.
Water quality varies: Water conditions differ between locations. Secord Lake offers clean water for kayaking, while some areas require caution. At Ambrose Lake, "The lake is small but good for kayak & paddle boarding. Areas of sand but fairly murky. We swam and floated for a few hours in tubes," notes camper D.G.
Reservation requirements: Most popular sites need advance booking. For Devoe Lake, "Sites require a reservation either at the office or Online. Not somewhere you can just pay for on spot because it's in the rifle river recreation area," warns Erin S.
Tips for camping with families

Boardwalk exploration: Nature trails with educational features appeal to families. "The coolest thing about this campground was the boardwalk it winds back through the woods and marsh and has a lot of raised Outlook platforms to view the scenery," reports a camper at Pinconning County Park.
Tips from RVers
