Best RV Parks & Resorts near Davisburg, MI

RV campgrounds near Davisburg provide diverse options for motorhome travelers throughout southeastern Michigan. Holly Recreation Area offers full hookup RV sites with 50-amp service, accommodating larger rigs within a wooded setting that remains open year-round. Groveland Oaks County Park, located just minutes from Davisburg, features spacious pull-through sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, operating from late April through early October. Haas Lake Park RV Campground in New Hudson supports big rigs with lakefront sites, though the access road presents challenges for larger vehicles. "Rough dirt road into the park but otherwise well laid out once you understand all the loops," noted one visitor.

Several campgrounds maintain reliable cellular connectivity despite their natural settings. Most parks in the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall color season when occupancy reaches capacity. Dump stations are available at Holly Recreation Area, Groveland Oaks, and Pontiac Lake Recreation Area, though the latter offers only 30-amp electrical connections. Many sites throughout the area feature gravel pads with moderate leveling challenges on sloped terrain. A recent review mentioned: "Any site above 80ish is very hilly and may be difficult to level an RV." Pet-friendly policies exist at all major parks, with varying restrictions regarding leash requirements and designated pet areas.

    Wayne County Fairgrounds RV Park

    Typical Fairgrounds Campground

This is a typical fairground campground with open grassy areas for campsites surrounded by barns and tracks. The fairgrounds is located just off I-94 which makes for easy entrance and exit to the campground, but, means there is lots of road noise. Close by are plenty of stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc. In fact, there is a gap in the fence that runs around the fairgrounds allowing you to walk to a Walmart, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and more.

We arrived without a reservation and the women in the office was very helpful providing a map with all available sites during our stay and letting us choose which one we wanted. One of the first things you notice is that a number of people are here long-term so we went to the back area hoping it would be quieter and less crowded. A number of the campsites are “buddy” sites meaning your patio opens to your neighbors so be careful which one you pick. This is pretty undesirable when the neighbor is a total stranger so we chose a site where we didn’t have anyone next to us.

They offer 50 amp full hook-up sites, 50 amp/water, and 30 amp/water sites with pull-thru and back-in options. There is a dump station located in the middle of the park which is easy to get to. The roads are wide and a lack of trees makes this campground accessible for any size RV. The sites are level but some lack grassy making the patio pretty dusty or muddy. Unfortunately, where we were was pretty muddy just after a light rain. This campground works best for RV’s and not tents. For tenters there is a designated section that is set in a corner of the park with large trees for shade but not much privacy between you and others. A water spigot is in the tent area and there was one picnic table. The camp office sells firewood but we only saw two fire pits in the whole park. Be aware that noise from the interstate and nearby train tracks may make for a restless night. Bathrooms are centrally located in the campground and were old and tired but relatively clean. On-site laundry is available.

Apparently, management is having some issues with campers not obeying some of the rules. One of the sad things about this campground is that campers have to be reminded to clean up after their dogs. Apparently, it is such an issue that we got a letter stating that if you don’t pick up your dogs poop you would be asked to leave. How sad is that? There is free WiFi which worked pretty well. Upon checking in, we had to sign a piece of paper stating that we would not download copyrighted material or stream movies or we would be asked to leave.

My favorite aspect of this campground is that they had a community garden that you were welcome to pick from. We got tomatoes, Swiss chard, peppers, broccoli, and more. Overall, this campground was fine for the few nights we were here and close to the attractions we wanted to visit. We never felt unsafe even though it was close to major cities. We chose this campground because we wanted to go to Ann Arbor and Dearborn and it was a very convenient location.

    Pros:

    ·        Good location if you want to visit Ann Arbor and Dearborn

    ·        Close to interstate for easy access

    ·        Long, level sites that will fit any RV

    ·        Community garden you can pick from vegetables

    ·        Stores and restaurants are nearby (some within walking distance)

    Cons:

    ·        Lots of road noise from I-94

    ·        No trees for shade or privacy

    ·        Would not recommend for tent camping

    ·        Many campers are long-term

    ·        “Buddy” campsites with patios facing each other

McGinnis Lake Modern Campground — Holly Recreation Area

The State of Michigan has dropped the ball…

No sewer or dumps is available at this campground (April 2022). You will have to dump elsewhere. If there was a memo I missed it. Made reservation in winter 2021. Had great Verizon and ok TMobile service. Site itself was easy to level and adequate for our big rig. It was one of 4 50 amp sites in the park. Nice large grassy site and the park was not very full.

    Frankenmuth Jellystone Park

Fun RV park and very close to downtown

Our site was averaged out to $82.71 a night with the weekly rate discount.

We were in Site# 306 (a deluxe plus RV site - be aware that some of these are back-ins and not clearly labeled on the site map - we had to change sites to a pull-thru). We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.
The site was easy to level.

Our site was not shaded with zero trees. We weren’t able to sit outside because of the direct sun until after 8:30pm.
This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The deluxe plus lot comes without a concrete patio but with a picnic table and fire ring. They do sell firewood and will deliver to your site.

There is free WiFi. They do not offer Cable TV but there are quite a few channel options.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent pedal bikes. They do not provide golf cart rentals.

They do have a heated indoor and heated outdoor Swimming pool and one hot tub.

There is a Playground. They also offer Gaga ball, basketball sport court, and volleyball courts. There is a Game room for kids. They have a Putt putt course and Jumping pad.

They have a great general store. There is a separate Activity Center for kids.
There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like wagon rides, arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, etc. Activities are scheduled all day from 9am to 8pm.

There is a snack bar on site from 4pm-9:30pm where you can get hot dogs, brats, pretzels, nachos, ice cream, etc.

The streets are mostly paved and good for riding bikes.

This is an RV park with cabins to rent also. Tent camping is also allowed.

They have two shower houses. The shower house has the typical stalls. There is a great area to hang clothes and store your toiletries in the shower stall. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine in the arcade room. There are approximately 4washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.75 to wash and $0.75 to dry a load.

They do not have a fenced in dog park. There are areas to walk dogs though.

Flies were an issue and bug spray was needed.

There were no trails to hike off of the campground.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are Frankenmuth FunShips (chocolate & wine tasting), the Golden Ticket Trolley, the Bavarian Belle (popcorn & sodas) River Place Shops, wineries, and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland store. This RV park is less than a mile to downtown/River Place Shops where there is tons of shopping.

    Holiday RV Campground

    Nice Park

Nice park for full timers. Large spots to accommodate big rigs and kids. Full hook ups. Cell service great with Verizon hotspot (22u, 20d, 38ms and AT&T cell(27d, 20u, 27ms). Playgrounds everywhere for the kids. Giant dog park and ponds. Pool was closed. Just needs more grass. Our spot was really patchy and resulted in a lot of mud.

Great campground with polite and helpful staff. Don’t pass this one up.

    Pine Ridge RV Campground

Lots of tall pines and hardwoods providing good cover

Nice pull through sites, some are tight, but none are impossible. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. There’s private land on either side and a dirt bike track that the neighbor owns on the north end, so if you’ve got a light afternoon napper, stay away from that end. Clean facilities, close to attractions and highway. Overall a good spot to stay

    Groveland Oaks County Park

    Kid friendly

This campground has a lake for swimming, water slide, arcade, boat rentals, mini golf, biking trails and fishing. Lots for kids to do... also skate park and 2 playgrounds. Full hookup area is away from most of the weekend traffic with a short cut to get to where all the kids stuff is located. I think it is a little pricier than most monthly rentals in southeast Michigan. We chose for the convenient location for spending the weekends. Our campsite was a little difficult to get into because it was on a curve and there was a seasonal camper with a Class A right across from our site which didn’t allow for a lot of space to maneuver our 26 ft travel trailer. It was, however, fairly close to the park and restrooms.

Bruin Lake Campground — Pinckney Recreation Area

    Bruin Lake Campground

Wonderful place even when it’s packed. Harder to get reservations over the years but always a great place to stay. Awesome bathrooms newly renovated. Nice spots. Mostly paved in the lower sites. Nice swimming area however no beach sand. Just a grassy area. Public boat launch on Bruin lake. Bruin lake connects to a few more lakes creating a nice chain of lakes. Half moon at the end of the chain is a great all sports lake. Awesome fishing. Sites have electric, no water. There is a dump station. Wood and ice available for purchase and a few vending machines. Nice hiking trails. They do have a few hike in yurts and hike in camping sites. Decent parking places for those hike ins.

Guide to Davisburg

Campgrounds in the Davisburg area offer a mix of state recreation areas and private facilities situated within the rolling terrain of southeastern Michigan. Elevation ranges between 900-1,100 feet throughout the region, with most campgrounds located near small inland lakes. The camping season typically runs April through October with some locations remaining open year-round, though winter sites often have limited amenities.

What to do

Hiking trails: McGinnis Lake Campground in Holly Recreation Area features several marked trails through densely wooded areas. "Pretty park with several well marked trails. We stayed in the Maple loop which had several semi-private sites screened from neighbors by trees," notes one visitor who found site #1 particularly roomy and attractive.

Swimming options: Groveland Oaks County Park provides swimming in a spring-fed lake with designated beach areas. "This campground has a lake for swimming, water slide, arcade, boat rentals, mini golf, biking trails and fishing. Lots for kids to do... also skate park and 2 playgrounds," reports a camper who visited with family.

Fishing opportunities: At Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA, visitors can fish in the small lake on property. "Site was across the small road from the lake. Plenty of trees all around. Good for shade and natural comforts of the day," writes one camper who appreciated the natural setting despite being near other facilities.

What campers like

Privacy at wooded sites: Holly Recreation Area offers secluded spots among dense trees. "I love this place and so do my 3 dogs. We got a secluded campsite, and it's gorgeous- tucked into the woods and was easy to back into. You're far enough from people to where you don't really see a lot of them or hear them that often," reports a visitor who found the experience peaceful.

Clean facilities: At several Davisburg area campgrounds, bathroom cleanliness stands out. "The bathrooms and showers were clean, there were a lot of activities for the whole family, and the camp site was nice and shaded," mentions a camper who stayed for a week at Holly Recreation Area.

Lake views: Haas Lake Park RV Campground receives praise for its water views. "We thoroughly enjoyed the campgrounds- especially our lakefront full hookup. The entire campground was well kept; the bathrooms, the grounds, and the laundry facility were all in good condition," notes a visitor who appreciated the maintenance standards throughout the property.

What you should know

Seasonal variations: Most campgrounds near Davisburg operate from late April through October. "We've camped at Pine Ridge Campground for the past five years," writes one camper, highlighting how returning visitors develop familiarity with campground patterns and seasonal challenges.

Site leveling challenges: Many RV sites in the region require some adjustment for level placement. "Nice pull through sites, some are tight, but none are impossible," reports a Pine Ridge RV Campground camper who found staff knowledgeable and helpful despite some tight spacing.

Road conditions: Access roads to campgrounds vary significantly in quality. "Large sites big campground. Rained the whole weekend so couldn't enjoy it like we wanted to. Will go back," notes a Haas Lake visitor, indicating that weather can significantly affect road conditions.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Choose campgrounds with multiple recreation options. "We've been here a few times. Very close to our house just a nice little getaway. We enjoyed the Halloween weekends. We decorate big and enjoyed other decorations as well!" shares a Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA visitor who specifically sought out themed weekend activities.

Playground access: Camp Dearborn offers extensive play areas for children. "Camp Dearborn has a lot for the kids, outdoor fun, night dance parties, cement for bike rides or rollerblading. Our family had been coming here for years for Girl Scout camps and individual camping experiences," explains a repeat visitor familiar with the family-focused amenities.

Special events: Many campgrounds host seasonal activities for families. "Lots of beach area and water to fish or swim. Activities almost every night. Paddle boats, mini golf, golf, and more. Pull behind sites were easy to access," notes a Camp Dearborn visitor who found staff helpful and responsive.

Tips from RVers

Hookup variations: RV campgrounds in Davisburg differ in available utilities. "We enjoyed this very quiet campground. It is not a family 'resort' style campground. There is a playground, no pool. Each site has full hook-ups and are a good size. Nice shade trees At most sites," reports a Pine Ridge visitor who appreciated the more basic, less crowded approach.

Site selection strategy: Visit before reserving when possible. "I would suggest to come in the park and drive through and pick a spot that you like before making reservations," advises a Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA visitor who noted significant variation between site quality and access.

Dump station access: While many rv campgrounds near Davisburg, Michigan provide on-site dump stations, their locations vary. "The fire rings are double insulated with sand, which made for a safer experience. And the picnic tables are in good shape," comments a Haas Lake visitor who also noted the campground had a convenient dump station for RV waste.
