    Holiday RV Campground

    Nice Park

Nice park for full timers. Large spots to accommodate big rigs and kids. Full hook ups. Cell service great with Verizon hotspot (22u, 20d, 38ms and AT&T cell(27d, 20u, 27ms). Playgrounds everywhere for the kids. Giant dog park and ponds. Pool was closed. Just needs more grass. Our spot was really patchy and resulted in a lot of mud.

Great campground with polite and helpful staff. Don’t pass this one up.

    Ted Ranch Campground

No thrills, largely rustic, family oriented, friendly

This campground is pretty rustic with water and electricity at some sites, no showers or restrooms, a dump station for one at a time, Porta potties scattered around, small beach, small boat launch, mostly appears to be seasonal sites without sewer or rustic sites. Some but not a lot of shade, rolling fields being made into smaller sized sites. Dogs and dogs pens are allowed, and they do not appear to have parents who are attentive or keep them from barking. Friendly staff and family of four owners.

    Harrison Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet place to get away

We have been here a few times. Really enjoy the secluded sites and the lake. It’s a small campground but it’s clean and quiet. Most sites don’t have water hookups but they do have electric. There isn’t much to do outside of the campground but there is a nice lake with canoe and kayak rentals. Very pet friendly and even has a dog beach.

    Markin Glen County Park

    Modern Campground Close to Downtown

This is a modern campground with full hook-ups and cement parking areas. It is a newer campground, so there is not an old-growth canopy shading the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Some sites are pull-throughs. Tent camping is allowed, but most campers have RVs.

There is a bath house with good showers.

The park also has a lake with a beach, although I have never been in it.

This campground has a great location for people who want to visit Kalamazoo. One downside is that there are train tracks that run near the campground and sometimes the engines idle for extended periods at night.

    Oaks Campgrounds

    Nice for the Night

Friendly staff. Camp store in office. Pull through full hook up site. Seemed to be more of a permanent campground but everyone was friendly. The campground hosted activities such as a potluck and dj dance party at the pavilion.

Bruin Lake Campground — Pinckney Recreation Area

    Bruin Lake Campground

Wonderful place even when it’s packed. Harder to get reservations over the years but always a great place to stay. Awesome bathrooms newly renovated. Nice spots. Mostly paved in the lower sites. Nice swimming area however no beach sand. Just a grassy area. Public boat launch on Bruin lake. Bruin lake connects to a few more lakes creating a nice chain of lakes. Half moon at the end of the chain is a great all sports lake. Awesome fishing. Sites have electric, no water. There is a dump station. Wood and ice available for purchase and a few vending machines. Nice hiking trails. They do have a few hike in yurts and hike in camping sites. Decent parking places for those hike ins.

    Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday

    Great Visit / Great Park

We spent this past week at Hogback Lake KOA. It is late in the season so much of the park was closed for the season, but we had a great year round site. A little bit of road noise, but water, electric, sewer, cable TV all worked great. We have family in the area and had a great visit. We will definitely stay here again in the spring.

    Pokagon State Park Campground

    Old campground

This state park was established in 1925, so almost 100 years old. The campground must be the original layout. There's a maze like quality to it. The roads are narrow & you may be driving off the road for a big rig.

Some sites are level, some aren't. Some can accommodate larger rigs, most can't. Check the site descriptions carefully & to be doubly sure, call the office & ask.

There's water stations that look very old. They have wooden, shingled roofs. There's 2 dump stations located in loops 3 & 4. IN THE CAMPGROUND! NEXT TO CAMPSITES!!!!

There's 5 loops to the main campground.

100 loop is small & closer to the lake than the other loops. It's the loop we chose this time.

The sites are on the small side. There's 3 campsites that are close to the lake. 115, which is a larger site. 117 & 119 which have clear views of the lake. 117 is more a tent or popup site & is small. 119 is the best of the bunch. A large pad & a large site. There's no privacy bushes. These sites have a view of the lake with trees & brush & are on a ridge overlooking the lake. They aren't ON the lake.

On either side of 117 & 119 are 2 trails that lead to the lake. There's benches & a dock to tie up your boat.

The rest of the sites are a mixed bag. Some are level, some have an incline. If you have a big rig, be aware that the road to the 100 campsites branches into one way. Leading into the campsites, the road is narrow & has a ravine on one side!

        200 Loop is non electric

300 Loop is the biggest loop & seems like the best bet for larger rigs. As stated above, some sites are better than others. There's a uniformity here that's missing from the other loops.

Stay away from sites 393& 395!!! These sites are literally right on top of the dump station! As always watch for pit toilets near the sites.

400 loop is a smaller loop next to the 200 loop. There's only one shower house for both loops. Avoid site 444 & probably site 454. These sites are VERY close to the dump station.

500 loop is also smaller& has some nice sites tucked by themselves in the trees. There seems to be more privacy brush on this loop with SOME sites.

512 is close to the shower house. 511 & 513 were somewhat secluded.

If you have a boat you want to tie up at the dock, go for the 100 loop. If you can't get it, be aware there's no parking near the trails to the lake. You can park by the bathhouse & walk.

The shower & restrooms are atrocious!!! Worst looking buildings since Spring Mill SP! Dirty & need an entire overhaul. In fact, raze the buildings & build new ones! They're "cleaned" once a day. Suuuuuure they are. There was actual poop on the door of one of the women's toilet stalls the whole time I was there. Mold & spiders& dirt in the corners. Looks like the last upgrade was in the 50s.

Guide to Albion

RV campgrounds near Albion, Michigan center around agricultural terrain with elevations averaging around 930 feet above sea level. The area experiences humid continental climate with four distinct seasons, making late spring through early fall the primary camping season. Most campgrounds in this region feature level sites on predominantly grassy terrain, with varying tree coverage depending on the specific location.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Apple Creek Campground provides easy access to walking and hiking trails connected directly to the property. "There are plenty of activities for the kids including an ice cream sundae bar ($3/person), foam party, hay ride, candy bingo, basketball court, putt-putt (although it appeared to be outdated), and a swimming pool," notes one visitor to Apple Creek Campground & RV Park.

Swimming options: While not all campgrounds have traditional pools, some offer natural swimming. Harbor Cove RV Resort features "no pool but there is a small pond to swim in and a lake as well," according to a camper review. The campground maintains full hookup sites and has helpful staff to assist with your stay.

Family entertainment: Camp Turkeyville RV Resort offers numerous recreational amenities. As one camper describes, "Family campground with restaurant, gift shop, camp store, ice cream parlor, and heated pool... There is a volleyball pit, playground, and horseshoes. The 'fishing pond' is very small."

What campers like

Spacious sites: At Holiday RV Campground in Grass Lake, the layout accommodates larger vehicles. "Nice park for full timers. Large spots to accommodate big rigs and kids. Full hook ups... Giant dog park and ponds," notes one reviewer. The campground also features multiple playgrounds scattered throughout the property.

Shaded camping areas: Moscow Maples RV Park in Horton provides tree coverage for comfort during summer months. A camper mentions, "The sites were grassy and mostly level. Trees added shade throughout... We have family in the area and we will definitely be back as I believe this will be our campground of choice when we visit."

Friendly atmosphere: Campers consistently note the welcoming environment at local campgrounds. "This campground is family owned and very nicely kept up. It is predominantly all season campers but there are plenty of other spots open for short visits," says a Holiday RV Campground visitor, adding that "Owners and other campers very friendly."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most Albion area RV parks operate on limited schedules. Moscow Maples RV Park runs from May 1 to October 15, while Heartland Woods Family Resort operates from May 15 to October 31. Apple Creek extends slightly longer from April 15 to November 30.

Reservation systems vary: Some campgrounds have outdated booking processes. One Hideaway RV Park visitor shares a positive first-time experience: "This was our 1st ever camping trip and it was a delight. Pull thru spot, super easy to get to, full hookup... Linda (owner) was amazing, very helpful and easy to use venmo for payment and for firewood use."

Infrastructure limitations: Electrical capacity can be an issue at some parks. At Harbor Cove RV Resort, one camper reported having to "keep hitting the Circuit Breaker every 5-10 minutes" because "their box couldn't handle the power." Be prepared with surge protectors and inquire about electrical reliability when booking.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: When traveling with children, consider campgrounds with multiple play areas. Holiday RV Campground features "Playgrounds everywhere for the kids" according to reviews, making it easier for families to enjoy outdoor time without traveling far from their sites.

Group camping options: Apple Creek Campground & RV Park offers designated group areas ideal for family reunions. "We camped (tents and campers) in the group area. The group area is circular and surrounded by trees which helped to keep it cool. Each site had electric hook-up and some had water," notes one visitor.

Swimming facilities: When camping during summer months, pools provide important recreation for children. One Camp Turkeyville visitor notes the campground is "Very laid back. Family oriented. Plenty of things for the kids to do," which helps keep younger campers entertained throughout your stay.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: For optimal views, consider trading full hookups for better positioning. For certain parks with lakefront options, one experienced RVer advises: "If you want the best sites, forego the 'full hookup,' pay less for the best and closest view."

Internet connectivity: Cell service and WiFi vary across Albion area campgrounds. At Holiday RV Campground, a reviewer reports "Cell service great with Verizon hotspot (22u, 20d, 38ms) and AT&T cell (27d, 20u, 27ms)," providing specific performance metrics helpful for remote workers.

Surface conditions: Be prepared for variable site surfaces. Apple Creek Campground reviews note "Most of the sites around us were sandy dirt with very little to no grass," while others mention concrete pads at certain campgrounds. Bring appropriate leveling equipment and ground coverings based on your campground's terrain.
