    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

The southern Maine region surrounding North Berwick features a variety of established campgrounds catering primarily to RV travelers and family campers. Within a 20-mile radius, visitors can find highly-rated options like Beaver Dam Campground in Berwick and Lazy Frog Campground in Lebanon, both offering full hookup sites for RVs alongside tent camping areas. The coastal influence is evident in nearby facilities such as Thousand Trails Moody Beach and Sea Vu Campground in Wells, which provide seasonal access to Atlantic beaches while maintaining wooded camping environments. Most campgrounds in this area operate from mid-May through mid-October, with a few exceptions like Sea Vu that remain open year-round.

Reservations are strongly recommended throughout the summer season when coastal Maine experiences peak tourism. Most campgrounds in the North Berwick vicinity feature level, gravel sites with varying degrees of shade and privacy. As one camper noted about Thousand Trails Moody Beach, "The campground has good proximity to Orchard Beach and Portland. However, the spots are pretty tight, and the WiFi is awful away from the registration office." Cell service varies throughout the region, with Verizon typically providing 2-3 bars of coverage. The camping season aligns with Maine's weather patterns, as winter conditions make most facilities impractical outside the May-October window. Campgrounds typically provide firewood for purchase, and fire restrictions are uncommon except during unusually dry periods.

Family-friendly amenities distinguish many campgrounds in this region, with swimming pools, playgrounds, and organized activities common during peak season. Several facilities offer shuttle or trolley service to nearby beaches, reducing parking concerns during busy summer months. Campers frequently mention the proximity to coastal attractions as a major benefit. Sites near water or with premium views tend to book quickly, particularly on holiday weekends. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with most campgrounds allowing dogs with standard restrictions. The area's campgrounds strike a balance between natural settings and convenient access to coastal Maine attractions, making them popular bases for exploring Portsmouth, Portland, and the southern Maine beaches.

      Sebago Lake Family Campground

      Find a better place!

We just came back from a big family weekend there. We had 5 sites with 19 people(including children). This is by far the most rundown campground I've stayed! Only 1 bathroom facility was functioning. Of the 3 times I tried taking a shower, I only succeeded 1 time. The other 2 times(once at night and once the following morning at 6am) I only got drops coming out of the hot and cold faucets. I tried the only 2 stalls. Speaking of bathrooms...these have not been updated since the 60s-early 70s when I was camping with the same style bathroom facilities. The children's playground should be condemned!!! At least 25% of the wood is rotted. Some steps are missing from ladders. My granddaughter was swinging in the childs swing, the bottom unlatched and she fell through the bottom. If she wasn't monkey like in holding on she would have done a face plant to the ground. After looking at the swing, I found the plastic latch broken! 2 positives: the campsites are very nice! and the beach is great! Bottom line, these owners are not putting any money back into the campground and it's facilities. They are running it into the ground. I won't be coming back again!

      Hampton Beach State Park Campground

      RV camping

We booked three nights of dry camping and arrived Friday excited to start our weekend. Unfortunately, we barely made it 24 hours before deciding to leave because of the way we were treated. We were told by another man at the campground that we were permitted to run our quiet generator overnight. The posted cutoff time was 9:00 AM, and we fully intended to shut it off by then. At approximately 8:50 AM the following morning, a woman who lives on-site who is named Karen(no pun intended)- and appeared to run the facility came pounding on our RV door, yelling at us about running the QUIET generator all night. We tried to explain that we had been told we were allowed to do so and that we were going to shut it off at the required time. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, we felt that we were essentially pushed out and harassed during the short time we were there. We also had our baby with us, and it was a hot summer night. Being told that we should have simply opened the windows was incredibly frustrating and felt completely dismissive of our situation. We came to enjoy a three-night camping weekend and instead left after barely 24 hours because of how uncomfortable and unwelcome we were made to feel. We have never experienced this kind of treatment at a campground before. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will never be returning to Hampton State Park RV Camping. The way we were treated was completely unacceptable and left us extremely disappointed and disgusted with the experience. She told us and I quote“this is a campground, not a prison” But clearly it wasn’t.

      Pine Acres Resort

Developmentally disabled adult daughter experienced discrimination here.

I am writing because I am deeply concerned about the treatment of my disabled adult daughter: today and last week at Pine Acres. She loved the campground and sent me literally 100s of pictures of the wildlife and activities.

She had a friendly connection with Brendan and some other staff; she had a terrible Christmas last year, and she told me how doing a Christmas craft and attending your Christmas party healed that for her. She was happy, and I can’t imagine she was an issue other than the crying.

She sent me pictures of the“ neighborhood” she was moving into for the rest of the season. She was happy. She’s been struggling so much since the loss of that dog. I felt like she had found a place to heal, was having fun, and was going to be ok. She mentioned wanting to be friendly( greeting people is hard for her) and make the park a better place, like picking up others' trash. I was shocked to hear she was asked to leave simply for having an autistic meltdown, a neurological event she will experience for the rest of her life, like a seizure. Even if this made others uncomfortable, she didn’t damage any property, threaten anyone, or do anything that could possibly warrant this treatment. It seems that someone was uncomfortable with the intensity of autistic emotions, and she and I now faced devastating consequences, including additional costs. Moreover, I also have a traumatized daughter who is scared to settle again kicked out for crying.

This never needed to be handled like this. She tried to advocate for herself and ask for one more night to prepare, but she never refused to leave; she was packing well, advocating. She was also advocating, believing that the people who had been so kind would be reasonable. Then she was retaliated against for that advocacy. Grace is reasonable, and a resolution could have been reached to address any non-discriminatory concerns; instead, you chose violence. Grace is kind; I realize she is a bit awkward, but that doesn’t mean she wanted this mistreatment.

      Everything I Love About Camping

This was such a great campground! Before we even left we were planning on returning. It’s clean, has great facilities and a camp store with anything you need or forgot without having to go to Walmart. It’s a fun place for kids, peaceful for parents, plenty to do on site and nearby.

    Guide to North Berwick

North Berwick lies in southern Maine's York County where coastal influence affects seasonal camping availability. Most camping spots near North Berwick, Maine operate from May through October, with elevations generally below 100 feet above sea level. The region receives approximately 48 inches of annual precipitation, making drainage an important consideration at campsites during spring and fall camping seasons.

    What to do

Kayaking opportunities: Beaver Dam Campground in Berwick provides pond access for paddlers. "There is plenty to do if you canoe or kayak, there is a pond right there, there is a swimming area in the pond," notes one camper at Beaver Dam Campground.

Beach access options: Many campgrounds offer transportation to coastal areas. "Close to the beaches and main strip. You can either walk, catch the trollies or take a provided shuttle," explains a reviewer about Thousand Trails Moody Beach.

Lighthouse viewing: From camps near York Harbor, lighthouses make popular day trips. "This campsite has a great view over the ocean towards the lighthouse. The site is very tidy and toilets clean," states a visitor at Libbys Oceanside Camp.

Tubing and river activities: Salmon Falls/Lebanon KOA offers river-based recreation. "There's a nice river you can float down so that was nice! I would get a campsite by the river instead of where we stayed in an open field," suggests a camper.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain spotless restrooms. "Bathrooms are modern and spotless. Owners on site are wonderful," shares a reviewer at Beaver Dam Campground.

Oceanfront experiences: Some campsites offer direct ocean views. "Truly after 13 States we been on, this is by far the best spot we stayed on. You are in for a treat," raves a visitor at Libbys Oceanside Camp.

Seasonal activities: Many campgrounds organize events throughout the camping season. "They have plenty of activities for young and old. I will definitely come back!" notes a camper at Beaver Dam Campground.

Heated pools: Several campgrounds maintain pools for swimming when ocean waters prove too cold. "Nice pool area where the sun hits all day! Big field area for playing games!" reports a reviewer from Lazy Frog Campground.

    What you should know

Site variations: Quality and size vary within the same campground. "Sites are narrow but wooded. Bathrooms are modern and spotless," explains a visitor at Beaver Dam Campground.

Seasonal crowds: Peak summer periods bring more campers. "During these Covid times overall I had a great time. Staff was very friendly and extremely cautious about their surroundings," reports a camper at Salmon Falls/Lebanon KOA.

Wi-Fi limitations: Internet connectivity challenges exist at several facilities. "The campground has good proximity to Orchard Beach and Portland. However, the spots are pretty tight, and the WiFi is awful away from the registration office," states a reviewer at Thousand Trails Moody Beach.

Terrain considerations: Some sites experience drainage issues during wet weather. "The only negative is the site we stayed at was mostly dirt and it rained and was a mess," mentions a camper at Sea Vu Campground.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Some campgrounds provide multiple recreational facilities. "There's a water slide, mini golf, ropes course, river access, and much more," states a reviewer at Salmon Falls/Lebanon KOA.

Pet policies: Many facilities welcome pets with standard restrictions. "It was beautiful and well cared for with flowers galore. There was a nice pool and it was right on our way to Bar Harbor," shares a camper at Sea Vu Campground.

Safety considerations: Several campgrounds maintain quiet hours and security measures. "We love the small space. Its a great local campground with activities going on all the time. We love the fishing pond and its pet friendly!" explains a visitor at Lazy Frog Campground.

Playground access: Many facilities maintain play areas for children. "For children, there is a swimming pool, a basketball court and a small playground," notes a camper at Thousand Trails Moody Beach.

    Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Some locations have limited space for larger vehicles. "The 30 amp sites are very close together. The campground layout is quite unusual, with campers parked lengthwise along the road," cautions a visitor at Thousand Trails Moody Beach.

Power management: Electrical capacity varies across campgrounds. "We have a 50 amp unit but reduced down to 30 amp (30 was the only option). We always use a surge protector. Once the weekend campers arrived our surge protector kept tripping due to low voltage," advises an RVer at Lazy Frog Campground.

Leveling requirements: Site surfaces differ between campgrounds. "Campground is superior in its warmth, cleanliness, dog friendly and access to points of interest. Some of the sites are close together but if you can plan in advance, there are sites available with room," explains a camper at Beaver Dam Campground.

Seasonal access: Some facilities operate year-round while others close seasonally. "Our annual membership fees basically covered what it would cost to camp here for two weeks," shares an RVer about Thousand Trails Moody Beach.
