Lake Charles RV Resort offers big rig friendly sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Frog City RV Park in Duson features pull-through RV pads with concrete parking areas and full hookups. "Sites are grass and gravel and are pretty level," noted one visitor about Frog City. Red Shoes RV Park & Chalets in Kinder provides concrete level sites with full hookups including cable TV, while Blue Heron RV Park in Iowa has paved sites specifically designed for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

Most RV parks in the region remain open year-round, with varying amenities depending on location and price point. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the area, with multiple reviewers reporting good connectivity for both AT&T and Verizon networks. Pet policies vary by location - while most parks allow pets, Blue Heron RV Park prohibits them according to their listed features. Proximity to Interstate 10 makes these parks convenient overnight stops, though highway noise can be noticeable at locations closest to major roads. Maxie's Campground

    Basic and nice

Stayed here with the Passport America discount and paid $23 for a 30 amp FHU site, so roughly double that for the full price. 50 amp is a bit more. Sites are all back in, and on the freeway, so it’s very loud. The website directs you to book your site online, but when we tried to do that, every single site showed as being available, which didn’t seem right to me, so we decided to just drive to the park first. Office was closed when we arrived (owners were at church), so we drove through the park, found an open site, found that site on their website, paid, and pulled in and set up. Owners pulled up to greet us and welcome us when they returned from church so I guess how we did it was fine.

Park is very basic, but nice. Free hot showers, nice laundry room ($4 for wash, $1.50 for dry- expensive but the machines are bigger than normal). There’s also a coke vending machine. Dumpster here but no recycling. Park offers free wifi but my Kaspersky internet security didn’t like something about it (doesn’t usually alert me when I use public wifi), so I just used my cell phone hotspot. Good cell service with ATT and Verizon.

    Poche's RV Park & Fish-N-Camp

Nice RV park. Convenient for canoeing in Bayou Teche.

Poches RV park is nice, well maintained, and has number of amenities. We had a wonderful weekend stay, and the weather was perfect. We canoed in the Shake Your Trail Feather festival on Bayou Teche. The RV park was close the the canoe trailhead. Take the time to explore the city of Breaux Bridge.

Go to Poches Market and buy some pork sausage stuffed with jalapeos. Also, be sure to make a reservation and go eat at Little Big Cup in Arnaudville about 15 minutes away.

Stayed in campsite#69. Back-in site with concrete parking, picnic table, and fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, and sewer hookups. It has a nice grass area with fire pit in the rear of the site next to the lake. Not much shade in the campsite. The site is located on the lake. Neighbors were pretty close. Roads in the park were asphalt or gravel. The free WiFi throughout the park was adequate for checking emails, surfing the web, etc. We camped in a Travel Trailer. Would stay here again. We camped at Poche's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Frog City RV Park

    Clean and spacious

Pool and hot tub, laundry, showers, fishing, free wifi. The dog area is large and has a place to wash your dog. Plenty of trees for shade and they accommodate 30 and 50 amp electric with water and sewer. There is also a dump station. Nice play ground for children. Beautiful walking/biking trail around the large pond.

South Campground — Chicot State Park

    Great State Park

Chicot State Park is wonderful and well maintained. We had a wonderful weekend stay, and the weather was perfect. Take the time to drive around to the East Landing in the evening before sunset. It has one of the prettiest views of Chicot Lake. Also drive down to the South Fishing Pier below the South Campground. It has a long pier that goes out into the lake. My son spent a lot of time at the splash pad. Be sure to visit the free La. State Arboretum onsite. It has a great visitor center with some fantastic exhibits and nice hiking trails.

Stayed in campsite#84. It has a nice deck with picnic table. BBQ grill and fire pit are on the other side of the RV spot. Even though it is in the front, it is actually quite secluded with woods all around. Nearest neighbor was at least 40-50 ft. Away. My son could easily walk or ride his bike to the splash pad. Both AT&T and Verizon had poor signal(1 bar each). Was able to connect to the free park Wi-Fi. It was slow, but I could send text messages and make the occasional phone call. Wasn't a big deal, because I came here to camp and get unplugged. We camped at Chicot State Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Lakeview Park

    PRETTY, BUT NOISY

Don't get me wrong, I am not antisocial, but when I go camping I really want the natural quiet of nature. It was pretty busy, with many people gathered and partying. Kids driving crazy on golf carts. Otherwise, the property is pretty. The sites are easily accessible (our camper is approximately 30 ft). The showers were not available d/t covid 19, but were there. Our site 12 was level and had full hookups. Pet friendly. Large trees. Store on site and snack shop near the beach. Very kid friendly.

Guide to Jennings

RV sites near Jennings, Louisiana provide camping options primarily along Interstate 10, positioned between Texas and eastern Louisiana. The area sits within the Cajun Prairie region where agricultural land dominates the landscape at approximately 25 feet above sea level. Summer weather brings high humidity with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F, while winter nights can occasionally drop below freezing.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Mermentau River RV Park offers waterfront access for anglers with boat-in capability. "We came in late called the phone number and was told to pick any site we wanted and then come up to the big house, where we paid cash," notes one reviewer about the check-in process.

Casino gaming: Red Shoes RV Park & Chalets operates adjacent to Coushatta Casino. "This place is one of most favorite camping spots... Then you have the Coushatta casino and all its amenities, so no need to travel far for fun and food for adults and kids," shares a camper.

Water recreation: Lakeview Park features a swimming pond with inflatable water toys. According to one visitor, "Had such a great and relaxing time! Rented the kayak for an hour multi times. Water is cold and refreshing."

What campers like

Cultural activities: Lakeview Park hosts traditional Louisiana events throughout the year. One reviewer noted, "We've not been during the summer, but we loved our kids' Mardi Gras weekend here. Lots of cultural fun and activities for kids and family."

What you should know

Varying conditions: Some RV parks in the region show signs of neglect. At Little Lake Charles Resort, one camper found: "Trashy stuff all over, a garbage can that looks like it's been there a year never emptied, molding. had to move trash to park the camper."

Municipal camping options: City-operated RV sites exist but may have limited amenities. A camper at City of Rayne RV Park shared: "We paid $30 cash at the Police Department, put the sticker on our car window and set up. The bathhouses were chained shut."

Refund policies: Check cancellation terms before booking. One Frog City visitor warned: "Our plans changed. Our refund is in a credit to be used at a later date. Bummer. Guess I lost that $45."

Tips for camping with families

Look for kid-friendly amenities: Frog City RV Park offers features specifically for children. "Easy access off I-10, level sites, nice staff. We'd stay again if passing through. Only thing we noticed that needs work is the small playground. I thought our kids would tip the whole thing over while swinging!"

Consider noise levels: Some parks can be louder than expected. A Lakeview Park camper cautioned: "Don't get me wrong, I am not antisocial, but when I go camping I really want the natural quiet of nature. It was pretty busy, with many people gathered and partying. Kids driving crazy on golf carts."

Evaluate swimming options: Little Lake Charles Resort features multiple water recreation areas. A visitor mentioned, "Lots to do with pool, water slide, water play area mini golf and fishing."

There is a rum distillery almost next door that is a fun free thing to do, otherwise you're looking at a 15-20 minute drive to other activities in the area."
