Best Campgrounds near New Iberia, LA

The New Iberia area offers several campground options for RV and tent camping throughout southern Louisiana. Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground, located in nearby Saint Martinville, provides facilities for tent camping, RVs, and cabin accommodations with boat-in access. Isle of Iberia RV Resort in New Iberia itself offers electric hookups, water access, and both tent and RV sites. Other facilities within a 30-minute drive include Palmetto Island State Park Campground and KOC Kampground, creating a network of mixed-use campgrounds across the Cajun country landscape.

Most campgrounds in the region remain open year-round due to the mild Louisiana climate, though summer humidity can be significant. Facilities typically provide electric hookups, water access, and sanitary stations, with varying levels of amenities. Several locations feature water recreation opportunities, including fishing ponds and swimming areas. "The grounds were wonderful for children. There were ponds, picnic tables, pool, playground, splash pad, train," noted one visitor at Catfish Heaven Aqua Farm & RV Park. Travelers should be aware that some areas experience seasonal flooding, particularly after heavy rains, and mosquitoes can be problematic in warmer months, especially in low-lying areas near water.

RV-focused campgrounds dominate the New Iberia region, with full hookups available at most locations. Campers report satisfaction with pool facilities and lazy rivers at Isle of Iberia RV Resort, while others mention the fishing opportunities at stocked ponds in Catfish Heaven Aqua Farm & RV Park. Many campgrounds have both short-term and long-term residents, particularly at facilities like KOC Kampground. Cell service is generally reliable at most campgrounds, though Lake Fausse Pointe State Park has limited connectivity. According to one camper, "Park is in pretty good shape, although it appears that the state park system is low on funding and resources, as some facilities are closed and maintenance is needed in certain areas." Despite this, the state parks offer more natural settings compared to the primarily developed RV parks in the area.

Lake End Park Campground & Marina

    Rustic Relaxation

We arrived at Lake End after the check in time but the office was so helpful and pleasant to check us in. Once we got to our site we had some problems. The 30 amp was tripping and the wash house was closed for renovations. But over two weeks, the long term neighbors made this feel like home. The walking trail is quiet during the week and early in the morning. After the first day, we really enjoyed our stay.

    Frog City RV Park

    Nice park, Great staff.

Spaces are cramped but slides don't touch. Spaces are long enough for a 44' fifth wheel and enough room to park the truck. Nice amenities like a dog park, laundry, community pavilion with weekend activities, pool, etc. Staff is very friendly and everything is kept up well and is clean.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Don’t come here

We called asking for late check in and they said no problem, just pay in the morning at the office. We spend 2 nights here with no one in the office, checking both the equestrian building, the stables and the office multiple times. Left several phone calls and emails with no answer. Got a short text from someone saying there’s an employee in the equestrian building. The young girl who finally helped us was rude and short. Zero communication or organization whatsoever around the campground. They clearly don’t care about their customers. Nice for a cheap place to stay but don’t expect to be helped at all. Couldn’t get the WiFi password.

    Attakapas Wildlife Management Area

    Public park?

I'm unsure about this pin.Drop.There is a little park right before the pin drop and a boat launch after the pin drop. I stayed at the boat launch. It cost the $2. I parked under the light and slept like a baby. Just a parking lot for trucks. Using the boat launch into the swamps, lots of mosquitoes working restrooms. Bring your own paper. Bring your own soap. Good, if you just need to get a good night's sleep which is exactly what I was looking for. If you're going to go to the boat lunch, you should have four wheel drive If the ground is wet, on the park side, you're probably good with the two wheel drive

    Burn’s Point Park

    Fascinating Drive

Fairly basic campsite but you can't beat the price at $10 a night on the Gulf. The drive down on 317 was fascinating, bridge over the icw, sugarcane Fields, active well-maintained above ground cemetery, at least one modest antebellum plantation home (privately owned), and a black bear as big as a refrigerator from eating sugar cane. Stock up at the small grocery in Centerville (home of a carbon black plant), because that is the closest thing that looks like a store.

All the sites are open and exposed to the gulf. Most are on gravel, but some are on grass and gravel. There are lots of fishermen, duck hunters, a boat launch, a playground, and several picnic shelters and pavilions. Some sites could be a problem if there is heavy rain.

    South City Park

    Good for overnight

$11.00 collected by city employee. Park by playground. Electric & water available. No dump station. During the day a little noisy as it’s a park with walking trail, soccer field, baseball field. Quiets down late in day. Gates are closed midnight and open at 7:00 am. Good T-Mobile coverage.

Guide to New Iberia

Camping sites near New Iberia, Louisiana offer a variety of options throughout Cajun country where annual rainfall exceeds 60 inches, creating lush landscapes and occasional flooding challenges. The subtropical climate allows for year-round camping with temperatures rarely dropping below freezing in winter, though summer humidity levels typically exceed 80%. Insects are particularly active from April through October, when overnight lows remain above 70°F.

What to do

Paddle remote waterways: Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground provides access to scenic bayou paddling trails. "We were able to kayak through a lot of water areas as well! The park rents canoes for people to use if you don't have your own," notes a visitor at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground.

Fish for catfish: Stocked ponds provide reliable catches for anglers of all skill levels. "Done a lot of fishing out here since I was a child- great place to take kids, lots of fun!" reports a camper at Catfish Heaven Aqua Farm & RV Park.

Explore nature trails: Several parks offer walking paths through bottomland hardwood forests. "Nice hiking trails and there is a splash pad and great playground for the kids. There's also a little lake for fishing," mentions a visitor at Palmetto Island State Park Campground.

What campers like

Remote camping options: Boat-in sites provide solitude away from main campgrounds. "Nice primitive campsite on an island that you get to by boat (motor boat/canoe/kayak). Site is also known as Highland Waters campsite. Nice big flat area under trees including large live oaks to set up your tents or hammocks under," explains a camper at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground.

Water recreation: Swimming facilities are available at several locations. "We enjoy a weekend without RV backed up to the pond. Cement lots with fire circle of metal," notes a visitor at Lafayette KOA.

Local culture access: Campgrounds serve as bases for exploring Cajun country. "About 10 miles from my bayou camp I love to go hike and just hang out every time u come you will see something new it's just amazing," shares a camper at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Seasonal flooding affects accessibility at some campgrounds. "Went to go to one of the paddle in sites or backpack sites however was warned the mosquitoes were horrible. Decided to get a day pass and rent a canoe and then hike the trails," reports a visitor at Lake Fausse Pointe.

Limited connectivity: Cell service varies significantly across the region. "There is no cell service anywhere in the park. Supposedly there is wi-fi in some areas but they couldn't tell me where that was and I never found it," notes a camper.

Road conditions: Access roads to some parks require caution. "The only negative thing I can say which really isn't the park's fault is the road getting into the park is in pretty poor shape for the last 3-4 miles," explains a visitor at Palmetto Island State Park Campground.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Several parks have dedicated play areas and water features. "The grounds were wonderful for children. There were ponds, picnic tables, pool, playground, splash pad, train," shares a visitor at Catfish Heaven Aqua Farm & RV Park.

Nature observation opportunities: Wildlife viewing adds educational value. "Good for a day or weekend trip with kids. We enjoy going for picnics. Fun trails to walk, you'll spot alligators and other critters," reports a camper at Lake Fausse Pointe.

Entertainment options: Some locations offer organized activities. "Camp Margaritaville hosts a ton of activities for the family, fishing, swimming, go cart racing and even nightly entertainment for the adults. This is a must go to place!" states a visitor at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choose based on seasonal factors and rig requirements. "You can tell it was built to overcome the obstacles you find at older RV Parks. The spaces are all level, paved, and long and wide enough to fit your RV and two vehicles," notes a camper at Parkside RV Park.

Electrical considerations: Power capacity varies between parks. "Park really opens April 1 but we needed a taste of summer and we found it here," mentions a visitor at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort.

Weekend planning: Some parks become significantly busier during weekends. "Weekends are very crowded and drinks are expensive but it's always a great time," reports a camper at Camp Margaritaville.
