Calvin's RV & Tent Camping in Wamego offers full hookups and level paved pull-through sites for campers traveling with pets. The small, well-maintained campground provides water, electric (30A, 50A, and 120V), and sanitary dump facilities. Pets are welcome throughout the property, which remains quiet despite being located on the east edge of town. Mill Creek Campground in nearby Paxico also accommodates pets with a variety of site options including creekside tent sites and spacious RV spots with full hookups. The campground has a peaceful creek within a minute's walk where dogs can cool off. Most sites feature fire rings and picnic tables, though some tent campers note the tables may be worn.

Pottawatomie County State Lake #2 provides free primitive camping for those traveling with pets, located about 20-30 minutes from I-70. The lakeside camping area includes basic fire rings and picnic tables with no hookups or running water, but does offer pit toilets. Dogs enjoy exploring the shoreline and watching wildlife, including jumping fish and beavers that can be seen catching fish throughout the night. Multiple trails around the lake provide pleasant walking routes for pets and their owners. Local fishermen frequent the lake during daylight hours, but the area typically clears out by evening, creating a quiet overnight experience. During summer months, the access road can become muddy after rain, making navigation challenging for larger RVs and campers.

Rocky Ford Campground — Tuttle Creek State Park

The best kept secret campground in Kansas!

When camping in Kansas you must try the Rocky Ford Campground in Tuttle State Park River Pond Area. This is a great shaded area with water views and full hookups. There are great secluded sites or sites you can camp next to friends or family. There are huge cottonwood trees that are wrapped with green vines during the summer months that guide you through the park. Make sure and put your food away at night or the raccoons will be dining at your table during the night. Site #44 is our favorite spot to hang the hammock and relax after biking or hiking the trails.

      Sweet stop

Pretty good place to stop. Only stayed for one night. Cute dog park close by. Close tiny human park. Pool close by, it was closed when we were there. Cute places to eat short drive away. You can tent with or without power. Has water and electric hook ups on a couple spots. On certain spots they have one of each, or none. Has Bathrooms, no showers. It’s free to stop here!! They have donation box which I hope you donate so they can keep this place going.

      Smoky Hill RV Park

Nice campground for a quick stay

Newer campground with nice flat lots. Simple, straightforward campground. Perfect for an overnight or stopping place while traveling. Great dog park and small kids area.

      More KOA Gravel

Another KOA that just loves gravel! The road in is paved, but there is gravel (and dust) everywhere else. There is also very little shade - so is was hot in July! There is a nice, but small, salt water swimming pool that was refreshing after driving 8 hours. And a small dog park. There is a small store/ gift shop with basics. The shower/bathroom was clean.

      River Pond State Park Campground

      Great place to stay

Lots of sites. Lots of trees. Small dog park in one corner. Many of the sites are well spread out, but even the close ones are quiet due to the trees absorbing sound. Pull throughs are not too level and services are on the wrong side so make sure your hose and electric cable are long enough. Could never connect to the WiFi. 4g signal was pretty strong. Park does need to label the roads with site numbers. I recommend arriving in daylight to find your spot, as well as researching your location beforehand.

      Stockdale

      Secluded ACOE Campground

Well maintained, gravel sites with good electric and water hookups. Dump station also provided attached hose to allow black tank flush. Verizon cell service and digital TV signal were strong. Visited Manhattan, KS and Oz Museum in Wamego, KS. Plenty to do in the area and this campground provided a nice, secluded base. Boat ramps available to allow access to Kansas’ 2nd largest lake.

Walt's Four Seasons Campground & Country Store

      Perfect Family E

I am thrilled with the amenities at this campground. The Wifi works great, especially after this is the first time I had wifi since leaving home. The pool, fishpond, kids playground, nature trail, and dog park are just some of the amenities. We all had some sandwiches made for us while we checked in. The bathroom and shower were exceptionally clean. My only concerns are the electric pedestal had a bulge below the socket, which wouldn't fit my surge protector. My electric went out, and I had to reset the breaker. I would have felt better knowing my surge protector was usable. Abilene, the boyhood home of President Eisenhower was right up the road and worth a visit.

The longer pull thru sites are Buddy site- we didn’t realize this

Our site was $56.78 We were in Site# 59 The check in was at 12pm but the office was closed until 3:30pm so we grabbed our sheet left out front and got ourselves to our site.

We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep (although the Jeep had to be parked straight across the front of our site to fit in). Also we were right on the highway.

The site was easy to level.
Our site was not shaded and without any trees. The most FRUSTRATING part is that this was a buddy site (that is NO WHERE on their website). We have rescue dogs and don’t want to share our space with neighbors we don’t know. Literally no one wants to Kumbaya by the fireside with complete strangers. Therefore our trip went from one week originally to two nights. We would have left the next day but the husband wanted to see the Evel Knievel museum.

The lot does not have a concrete patio but has a picnic table and fire grate.

They have a community fire pit with multiple swings around it. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster at the entrance.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a saltwater Swimming pool. They have a catch and release fishing pond.

There is a Playground. They also offer a weight room and an adorable activities room with air hockey, a library, & a pool table. There is also a scenic walking trail. The trail is almost a mile and they’ve kept it mowed and easy to identify.

They have a basic general store. There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes.

They have cabins for rent and a tent area (electric & primitive options).

They have 2 shower houses. The shower house in the main barn has individual shower/toilet/sink areas. The shower house in the park has the typical stalls. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility in both shower houses. It is a cash only facility.

They have a fenced in dog park which is unfortunately located in the front of the park away from RV sites.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are the Evel Knievel museum and Brown vs. Board of Education historical park.

Staff are very kind. I would definitely stay here in the future but will know to secure a site that isn’t shared with others
