Best RV Parks & Resorts near Kremmling, CO

Red Mountain RV Park near Kremmling provides full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections for motorhomes and travel trailers. The campground features big-rig friendly pull-through sites with level gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. "It was a bit confusing trying to navigate the access roads in the campground as it was extremely large," noted one camper about Red Mountain's layout. Nearby, Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain in Granby accommodates large RVs with spacious sites, offering full hookups including 50-amp electrical service. Tiger Run RV Resort in Breckenridge caters to motorhomes with concrete pads and hookups for water, electric, and sewer, though sites are positioned fairly close together.

Several RV parks in the region remain open seasonally, with most operating from May through October when mountain passes are clear of snow. Elevation impacts should be considered when planning, as many parks sit above 8,000 feet, affecting RV systems and overnight temperatures even in summer months. Cell service varies throughout the area, with stronger Verizon coverage reported at lower elevations. Dump stations are available at most full-service RV parks, though a review mentioned that some close earlier in the season: "the dump station was already closed down for the season" at one nearby park. Pet-friendly policies are common throughout the region's RV resorts, with some offering dedicated dog areas.

    Denver West-Central City KOA

    Mountain High

Yes Mountain High!! 8100’ high. 7 miles off I-70 at Idaho Springs. 25 miles into outskirts of Denver. Don’t worry they have oxygen! Not kidding!!

Nice campground, friend staff, laundry, fun little gift shop with some food stuffs, beer and liquor. Pizza cooked there but we didn’t try it.

Our space was a big rig space on concrete pad with ample seating, a table, a fire pit, and a propane grill stove… use you own propane! Full hook ups. It was still reaching freezing at night and so we didn’t hook up our water.

Clean restrooms and showers. Playground and dog friendly. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Glacier Basin Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park

    Wonderful Stay

I have a 22’ travel trailer I pull behind an F150. Since this campground is inside Rocky Mountain National Park, the roads are all paved.

The campground sites are situated around one-way driving loops, which are quite narrow. Best to pay attention to which side of the loop your site is on so your trailer door doesn’t open up onto the road. I think they error on the side of caution when it comes to the size of trailer fitting into each spot. At least for mine. They said max 26’ (trailer + tow vehicle), but I’m closer to 32’ and I fit fine. That may not be true of all campsites though. There is parking very close by if your tow vehicle can’t squeeze into the site.

My site didn’t have a whole lot of trees, but they planted a bunch of small ones to try and fix this years from now. Sites were level and had lots of space. Each had a fire pit and picnic table.

There were no hookups and no cell service (Verizon). They did have trash drop offs, water for cleaning pans and dishes, and bathrooms. It was very quiet at night. Generators are allowed but only for a couple times a day during short windows.

Glacier Basin campground is just a few miles from the Bear Lake trailhead. It was very nice to stay inside the park. Vehicle passes to get into National Parks were still required when I stayed and the lines to get in were very long and slow.

Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort

    Beautiful View / Accessible Location

Good Sam discount CO RV Parks are all more on the expensive side, but Elk Meadow is on the lower end of those around them. Great access to the RMNP(5 mins max!), as well as to downtown. Beautiful views of Longs Peak! Nearest grocery is close(5 miles away). Elk occasionally pass thru the front area which was really cool! There is also a little area next to the RV park where I think they park stored vehicles and it's a great place to walk. It's dirt, but about the size of a track.

GUEST SERVICES= great customer service! Friendly staff anytime I went into the office; they shuffled around to accommodate out extended stay on the spot so we wouldn't have to relocate and could stay at our site the whole time we were in town. We appreciated that!

WIFI/ CELL SERVICE= provided, but not reliable. We used our AT&T hotspot the entire time bc we work remote. Cell service was 4 bars and worked fine in the entire campground.

LAUNDRY: Not the cleanest laundry room we've been too, but it worked. There was a soap and water station in the laundry I used to wipe down the inside of the washer(by the chlorox holder) before using. The trashcan always seemed to be overflowing with lent and trash, but again, clean enough.

SITE: Wide roads and turns; easy to navigate throughout the campground; quiet; picnic table; spacious, no shade, needed levels on one side of our RV; dirt roads throughout so, unless it rained, it was very dusty and so we didn't open our windows as much as we wanted with the fresh mountain air. When it rained and calmed down the dust, then it was perfect to open the windows.

East Portal Campground at Estes Park

    Clean, quiet and beautiful.

Family friendly campground at the end of a quiet road near RMNP. Quiet, no generators heard as big rigs won’t fit! Tents, vans, car camping and camper trailers fit well. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, friendly hosts, ice and fire wood for sale. Big playground and not crazy expensive.

    Gore Creek Campground

So good, I don’t want to tell you about it.

Gore Creek Campground is a true gem of the National Forest Service. If you are looking for a great boondocking location that is close to great trails and breathtaking views, this just might be the place for you. The entrance to the campground is ~2 miles off of I-70 Exit 180 on Bighorn Road. Only 10 minutes from Vail Village and 25 minutes from Frisco.

We stayed in Site #8, which provided plenty of room for our 22’ travel trailer and pickup. The sites each have a large picnic table and fire ring.

Pit toilets are spread through the campground and were very clean and well maintained. The campground hosts do a great job of keeping everything tidy and looking great. They also have bundles of firewood for sale for $7 at their site just inside the entrance to the campground.

I can’t say enough about this place. It’s probably my favorite spot to camp in Colorado. I almost didn’t post this review for fear of the secret getting out.

    Moraine Loop Campground

    Water front campsites are gorgeous

About 45 minutes from Grand Lake entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. 9 mile dirt road to get to the campground. Nice level sites each with picnic/tent area. Vault toilets were clean. No water fill, dump stations, showers or flush toilets. Hosts said the camp was packed from 4th July until Aug 20th

North Park Campground — State Forest State Park

    Old KOA turned around!

This used to be a KOA campground that the state took back over and has refurbished. Brand new full hook up connection, connections, picnic tables, fire rings, gravel area with decomposed granite, shower house is BRAND NEW. So quiet and easy on and off the highway. Some highway noise but no semis and little traffic. Very little cell service- like 1 bar on Verizon. Would definitely come back. Little services so bring what you need. Walden is 20 miles down the road. We had a great pull through site with only one neighbor backing up to forest.

Guide to Kremmling

Kremmling, Colorado sits at an elevation of 7,364 feet where the Colorado River and Blue River converge. The area's mountainous terrain creates distinct camping microclimates, with temperatures dropping significantly after sunset even in summer months. RV campgrounds near Kremmling typically operate from May through October, with most facilities closing during winter when temperatures regularly fall below freezing.

What to do

Fishing access: Several RV parks near Kremmling provide direct river access for anglers. At Paradise on the River in nearby Estes Park, "each site has a deck over the river. Can't beat the sound of water rushing," according to camper Mary D.

Mountain biking: The terrain surrounding Kremmling offers trails for various skill levels. One camper at Eagle Soaring RV Park noted they "stayed for 5 nights on vacation to ride the mountain bike trails and hike. Was convenient but would consider staying elsewhere in the future."

Water activities: Some parks feature on-site water recreation. At Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain in Granby, "they have an amazing pool! Bowling alley, arcade, restaurant, bars (yes more than one!) they had live music, they have fishing, and dog parks, bike rentals, daily trash pick up from your campsite, firewood delivery," according to one reviewer.

What campers like

Wildlife viewing: The region offers opportunities to observe elk and deer near campgrounds. At Spruce Lake RV Park, a camper reported that "RMNP, Beaver Meadows entrance is only 2 miles. There is a bathhouse with showers and a 2nd bathhouse without showers. Water, electricity and sewer is at each site. 2 bull elk were hanging out at our site one day."

Central location: Campgrounds serve as good bases for exploring multiple mountain destinations. A camper at Red Mountain RV Park said it's the "perfect location if want to hit up winter Park resorts and arapahoe basin, keystone, or breck!! You can take 40 to winter Park in about 50 minutes. And then can take other highway down into silverthorne in 45 min."

River proximity: Campsites along rivers are particularly valued. At River Dance, campers appreciate that "kids loved playing frisbee in the field and swimming in the river." Another visitor noted it was "perfect for a quick swim in the river."

What you should know

Hookup layout: Some RV sites have inconvenient utility connections. At Manor RV Park, campers noted that "the site we stayed at had the sewer dump farther back than we are used to, but not a major problem just had to use our longer hose."

Site privacy varies: Many parks have a mix of secluded and exposed sites. At Grand Lake / Rocky Mountain National Park KOA Journey, a camper observed that they "had a great spot (RV33) which had privacy due to being surrounded by bushes on the sides between the abutting sites, and just a grassy lawn behind us. Not every site had this, and some of the sites were very open, close to the next site, not offering any privacy."

Limited shower facilities: Even at larger parks, bathroom facilities can be limited. One camper at Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort noted that there is "only one shower house, a bit uphill and far from sites. Only cold to mildly warm water in the women's shower (which is too cold in CO.)"

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Some RV campgrounds near Kremmling offer extensive family amenities. A camper at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain shared, "Beautiful campsite with pool, arcade, bowling, kayak rentals, awesome gym…so much more! The kids will be entertained here, and it's a short drive to Rocky Mountain National park."

Space for play: Look for campgrounds with open areas. At River Dance, a camper mentioned that "kids were happy to play in the field and win in the river."

Recreation variety: Parks often provide different activities for different age groups. According to a Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain camper, "kids enjoyed activities - popsicle eating contest, t-shirt tie dye, and donut decorating. They also loved the clean and well-lit basketball courts."

Tips from RVers

Leveling needs: Some sites require adjustment for RVs. At Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort, a camper reported "wide roads and turns; easy to navigate throughout the campground; quiet; picnic table; spacious, no shade, needed levels on one side of our RV."

Site surface conditions: Gravel pads are common but quality varies. At Grand Lake / Rocky Mountain National Park KOA Journey, an RVer noted "we had E/W hookup, and the gravel pad was mostly level."

Dust management: Unpaved roads can affect air quality. A camper at Elk Meadows Lodge observed "dirt roads throughout so, unless it rained, it was very dusty and so we didn't open our windows as much as we wanted with the fresh mountain air. When it rained and calmed down the dust, then it was perfect to open the windows."
