Loveland sits at the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains at 4,982 feet elevation. Its position along U.S. Highway 34 creates a strategic base for exploring both mountain recreation and front range attractions with spring temperatures typically ranging from 40-70°F. RV sites near Loveland offer varying stays from overnight to long-term with close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park.
What to do
Riverside relaxation: Riverview RV Park & Campground provides campsites along the Big Thompson River. "Nice sites, right on the Big Thompson. Sites are very close to each other, but plenty of room for privacy," notes Michael C. The rushing water creates a natural backdrop for many sites.
Mountain exploring: Located about 35 minutes from Estes Park, Riverview RV Park & Campground serves as a convenient gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. "About 10 mins outside of Loveland and 40 mins from Estes park. Downside: free WiFi is worse than dialup, and was told it wasn't worth paying for the premium cuz it wasn't much better," shares Miguel E.
Urban conveniences: Evans RV Park offers proximity to both natural areas and urban amenities. "Evans was a huge change from being in the rockies, but its still near estes park and fort collins which have great offerings, and downtown greeley is good if you look around for some fun things to do!" according to Reames C.
What campers like
Wildlife viewing: Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort provides opportunities to see native wildlife from your campsite. "Nearly every day a deer would come munch on the greenery right behind our rig... The campground is right on the banks of the Big Thompson river which does provide a soothing background for those fortunate enough to have sites on its banks," describes Glen C.
Community activities: Many RV parks offer social events throughout the week. At Loveland RV Resort, "They also have an art night, and a farmers market and other weekly meetups here. Very Nice community and I feel very safe," shares Marie G.
Scenic views: Manor RV Park provides mountain vistas visible directly from campsites. "Amazing views in 360 degrees of the mountains... Mule deer met us when we arrived," writes Michael M. The creekside sites are particularly prized for their combination of water sounds and mountain scenery.
What you should know
Seasonal considerations: Most RV parks in the Loveland area operate year-round, while those at higher elevations closer to Estes Park have limited seasons. Manor RV Park notes: "This is an older park that is staying open during the 2021 winter season for the first time."
Spacing variations: Site sizes and privacy levels vary significantly between parks and even within the same facility. "Some sites are smaller where your neighbor feels close to you but other sites are wider," explains Deb's RV Services about Riverview RV Park.
Facilities maintenance: Bathhouse and laundry quality differs widely across parks. "The shower took a while to heat up and the room was a little chilly," notes one camper at Manor RV Park, while another mentions that Riverview has "dated" but functioning showers.
Tips for camping with families
Playground access: Riverview RV Park & Campground offers family-friendly amenities. "I enjoyed this campground because it is quiet and you can have the rushing river behind you... It is close enough to the city of Loveland where you can access stores," shares Deb's RV Services.
Kid-friendly activities: Some parks provide recreational options beyond the typical playground. "We enjoyed seeing the kids playing in the playground and riding around the park on their bikes," reports Glen C. about their experience at Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort.
Safety considerations: When selecting a campground, consider proximity to busy roads. Fireside Motel and Camper Park sits directly on Highway 34 with minimal buffer from traffic, making it less ideal for families with young children who might wander.
Tips from RVers
Site selection strategy: At Loveland RV Resort, consider upgrading to premium sites for more room. "We stayed in a premium pull through because the basic pull through were soooo close together. The staff was friendly and helpful," advises Kimberly D.
Utility placement awareness: Check sewer connection locations when booking. At Manor RV Park, "Spaces are a bit tight—with sewer running into your neighbors sites. Sewer is placed poorly (uphill and far away from sewer tanks) with water and sewer lines running over each other," warns Amy & Stu B.
Connectivity considerations: WiFi quality varies dramatically between parks. "Wifi was pretty consistent" at Manor RV Park according to one reviewer, while at Riverview RV Park another camper notes that "free WiFi is worse than dialup." Cell service with major carriers is generally reliable throughout the region.
