Hike until you find a spot to watch the marmots, then return to your campsite. For more, backpack another 23 miles to Reds Meadow where you can catch a shuttle back up to Tuolumne.

Joshua trees 50 miles closer to LA than the Joshua Tree National Park!

This is 2.5 acres of protected Joshua Tree lands in the Antelope Valley north of LA, between the snowy Tehachapi Mountains, and the rolling green foothills of the also-snowy San Gabriel Mountains. My first time out there I saw BOTH ENDS of a rainbow in front of the snowy Tehachapis!! Super dark skies, and a million stars at night. It feels like the wild west out here. Think long dirt roads, tumbleweeds, bones, and maybe some old bullet shells (there's no shooting allowed on the property anymore).

The property itself is along a dirt "road" called Avenue C, but I'd be shocked if you encountered anyone driving along there. Except possibly another group of campers. This land used to be the domain of the Ketanemuk tribe, which I think means People From The East. In the summer they would go up and hunt and get pine nuts in the Tehachapi Mountains, and acorns from the oak trees in the San Gabriels. 

It's about a 20 minute drive from the town of Neenach (pronounced Nee-nack), where there's a general store and a cafe. They make a great breakfast burrito. A few minutes from the State Poppy Reserve, which blooms in the spring with miles of California poppies. If you have a larger group or event in mind, get in touch! **Please note: There are no RV sites only one camper van site. The parking is on a hill and you walk in your gear. Also note no showers provided.**

This is a great spot for a group who doesn’t mind getting out of the way of people in exchange for a short hike. Parking is a short but steep hike away from the campsite, and it is unlikely that you’ll see any other campers during your stay. The weather is warm, the sunsets are epic and the views are spectacular looking towards Angeles crest national forest. We do have stoves however open fires aren’t allowed within the city limits, and it is a very high fire area. Stoves and fire extinguishers are available for the cost of fuel as well as full camp gear if you are worried about not having stuff. From the campground you can hike some awesome trails, and be able to really get out in nature. There is water a 100 ft away, and there is a bathtub for the adventurous bather that overlooks the city. There are no flush toilets at this time, however composting toilets are available upon request at your campsite. We like city locals looking for a place to test out backpacking and camping gear while being 5 min driving distance to a Starbucks.

This LA based bohemian homestead farm is a great camping stop. We have 20 hillside acres nestled in the hills of Sunland / North Los Angeles, CA We have tent only sites with picnic benches, flat soft campsites, no fire pits, but amazing views of the valley and mountains. Great for a short getaway in the LA area.



Antfarm LA

Joshua Rancho is near the California Poppy reserve. It sits amongst beautiful Joshua Trees with spring desert flowers on the property.This is 2.5 acres of Joshua Tree land in the Antelope Valley north of LA, between the Tehachapi Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains. You will be driving on dirt roads to get to the property. Trucks, SUV’s and mini vans are fine but please understand that the last mile to the camp site is on an unmaintained dirt road that has high and low spots. The land sits near solar farms and there is some light that does come from them. You will have this beautiful spot to yourself. During the winter, the days are pleasant and cool. It does get breezy at night, so dress appropriately. In the summer time it gets nice and hot but does cool down in the evening. The beauty of being out camping here is that there are no rules, nobody watching. Think long dirt roads, tumbleweeds, bones, and maybe some old bullet shells (there's no shooting allowed on the property). This is not a state-maintained, paved, manicured operation you are out here by yourself. You need to bring your own food and water there is nothing out here. Please respect the property and clean up after yourself! This is for people who are comfortable exploring beyond a concrete slab with electricity and janitor-cleaned restrooms. There is a designated camp site with a deck that you can put your tent on or use it as a picnic eating area. The ground around the site does have lots of places to set up camp. Your pets are welcome out here and are free to be off leash. Please remember that there are wild animals that would like to eat your pet. We do provide a place to use the bathroom but you will need to bring your own bags and composting materials. This property is pack in pack out! The property itself is along a dirt road. "Gypsy", our 24 ft. 1954 Spartan Manor vintage travel trailer has a private double bed, kitchen and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen has a gas stove top, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, pots, pans, cutlery and vintage dinnerware. A custom daybed, dining area and library are in the forward "observation lounge".

Outfitted for private, luxurious relaxation the Tiny Tiki Retro Hideaway large cliff-top patio has 2 chaises, 2 armchairs, a loveseat and dining table. Take a nap, enjoy cocktails, tea, coffee or dinner al fresco. The gazebo, with an outdoor double bed is available May 1st to November 1st, or until the rains arrive, then it is tarped. Living spaces are fully electric and have A/C. 1 small bathroom only.

Nearby: In historic Chatsworth town restaurants, bars and shopping are 3 miles drive away. Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood are 27 miles away. Disneyland is 65 miles away, Universal City 26 miles, and Malibu beaches are 24 miles away; timing is all depending on traffic. Stoney Point world class rock climbing is 15 minutes, Magic Mountain 6 Flags and the Reagan Library are 1/2 hour away.

We are in a pristine wildlife corridor and there are numerous wild animals all around, including rabbits, squirrels, lizards, coyotes and others.

After many requests, we have finally opened a section of the ranch where you can camp using your own gear or some of ours. Have a BBQ cookout, make some S'Mores while telling tales around the propane fire-ring, then cuddle up in a teepee or yurt tent. Once the sun rises, you can cook up some farm-fresh eggs you bought for breakfast and enjoy the beautiful Angeles Forest around us!
