    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Moro Campground at Crystal Cove State Park welcomes campers with pets across various accommodation types, including tent sites, RV spaces, and cabins. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the campground and pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. The campground features designated pet relief areas and waste disposal stations. O'Neill Regional Park provides similar pet-friendly options with access to multiple hiking trails where dogs can explore on-leash. Both parks maintain clean facilities that accommodate pet needs while offering ocean or canyon views. Sites are clearly marked with adequate space between neighbors, providing privacy for pet owners concerned about proximity to other campers. The terrain can be rocky and exposed, so protective footwear for dogs is advisable during summer months.

Newport Dunes RV Resort offers comprehensive pet amenities including dedicated walking paths and waste stations throughout the property. Access to the beach area allows dogs to cool off during warmer weather, though tide conditions can sometimes limit beach access at other nearby campgrounds. Several hiking trails accessible from Crystal Cove State Park provide excellent exercise opportunities for dogs, with varying difficulty levels suitable for different pet abilities. When hiking with pets, carrying extra water is essential as drinking fountains are limited along trails. The campgrounds enforce quiet hours that apply to barking dogs, and rangers regularly patrol to ensure compliance with pet policies. Nearby pet supply stores in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach offer emergency provisions, while veterinary services are available within a 15-minute drive of most campgrounds. The hard-packed ground at some sites makes securing tents challenging, so free-standing shelters work better for campers with pets.

      Waterfront RV Park

      Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

      Oceanside RV Resort

For tent campers - pretty solid place for a quick couple stays

First, the campsite has the MOST CLEANEST restroom and shower booths I have ever visited for tent camping. This is no doubt that for those folks who are needed for good built qaulity toiletery, this will be your location.

      For the down sides;

      1. The trains - There is a rail right behind the tent sites so if you are looking for the tent sites with quiet location: PLEASE STAY AWAY from here. the trains do not operate from around 10 pm, back on operating starting from 5 am.

      2. for T1 tent site, BE AWARE that there is a dog park RIGHT next to the tent site: there will be a urine odor all over the place.

      3. If you are planning on cooking, just be aware that there is no proper location to do a dish wash. You would need some sort of wipes to do.

      Escondido RV Resort

Amazing resort style amenities. Spacious sites

People are complaining about freeway noise, we stayed in site 3 (the closest site to the freeway) and it was quiet as a mouse from inside our (insulated) RV. Amazing amenities. Dog park, pool, clubhouse. We loved site 3 so close to the amenities and restrooms. Overall amazing stay

      Golden Village Palms RV Resort

Don't Let the Town Deter You!

Being reasonably close to our home base, we frequent this park with the family. Major grocery and shopping establishments are nearby, with Target directly across the street, In-n-Out, local parks, and the like. Our kids love the pool area, grandparents love the pickleball courts, and there are always fun activities to do throughout the year. Full-timers are friendly and inclusive of newcomers and passer-throughs. Dog parks are clean and located at either corner of the park. The entrance security kiosk is staffed 24/7, and they'll even help spot you while parking your rig. We cannot say enough good things about this place.

Check their website for events and specials.

Launch Pointe Recreation Destination and RV Park

      Nicest cleanest campground

I had site 126 in the fields, corner site and lake view. This campground has a pool, splash pad, park, dog park and access to the lake. They also have a band on Saturday nights. The only bad part is they strictly enforce quiet time at 10pm. I felt like a kid being told to go to bed. I feel like on weekends people should be able to stay up late in front of their camper with low voices. Shouldn’t be hounded night after night! That was my only complaint.

      Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

    Guide to Laguna Woods

Camping areas around Laguna Woods range from coastal bluffs to canyon settings, with elevations between sea level and 2,000 feet in nearby mountains. Summer temperatures average 75-85°F, making spring and fall the most comfortable camping seasons. The region's Mediterranean climate means camping is available year-round, though winter brings occasional rainfall.

    What to Do

Beach exploration: 1.5 miles to Trestles Beach from San Mateo Campground — San Onofre State Beach. "The trail to Trestles Beach was very pleasant, although the beach was not quite a swim beach," notes Elly A., who adds it's "about a mile inland in San Clemente."

Hiking trails: Various difficulty levels at O'Neill Regional Park. "The campground is located next to Oneil Park, which is huge and great for bike and running. There are many hiking trails nearby in all directions," according to Mike G. The park features a unique "Story Trail" where Johnny G. mentions "The hike features a new book every month, each page is mounted to a placard along the trail."

Water activities: Lagoon obstacle course at Newport Dunes. "They have activities for the kids like arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course or you can rent paddle boards or watch a movie on the beach," says Karissa J. The protected bay setting makes this suitable for beginners and families.

    What Campers Like

Ocean views from tiered campsites at Moro Campground — Crystal Cove State Park. "The sites are terraced, so no matter which site you get you'll have a view of the ocean," explains Elly A. Another camper notes, "Each row of 10 spots is elevated from the previous row (tiered campsites) so everyone gets a semi view."

Private camping spots with vegetation barriers in some areas. "Most of the spots are super private!" says Brianne S. about San Mateo Campground. At Crystal Cove, Patrick J. found "The length of the site is very good with lots of room to setup your outdoor goodies."

Clean facilities maintained throughout the day at multiple campgrounds. At Crystal Cove, one visitor observed "The bathrooms are being cleaned frequently. The showers are token operated but it didn't take many coins to get a decent warm shower." Moro Campground impressed Amy H., who mentioned the bathrooms were "spotless" during their February stay.

    What You Should Know

Noise factors vary by location: Train tracks and highways run near some campgrounds. At San Onofre Bluffs Campground, Jonathan G. notes, "Some people don't like the parking lot camping, and the 5 is right behind you so it never gets really quiet." Consider this when selecting sites.

Ground conditions affect tent setup at several locations. At Crystal Cove's backcountry sites, Torye C. advises, "The ground is hard packed and rocky. Free/semi-free standing tents recommended." Similar conditions exist at other campgrounds, so bring appropriate tent stakes.

Reservation timing is critical for Doheny State Beach Campground. "This stay would have been our 2nd cancellation due to storms we have been having," reports Manuel P., who also warns about flooding at specific sites: "Avoid these spots in case of rain: 12-17, 75-45 beach side. Odd numbers only."

Beach access varies significantly among campgrounds. At San Onofre, Jacob S. explains, "Beach is very rocky, not much of a family beach but good for surfing." At San Mateo, several campers noted the 1.5-mile hike to reach the beach.

    Tips for Camping with Families

Playground access and kid-friendly activities: Blue Jay Campground provides "paved roads was nice for strolling through," according to Kittie B. O'Neill Regional Park offers a "Great playground for children" and "Recently paved streets (perfect for scootering, skating, biking)" as Johnny G. observed.

Pet-friendly options for family dogs: Multiple campgrounds welcome pets with specific rules. At O'Neill Regional Park, Johnny G. rated "Dog Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️" and added "Dogs 100% must be on leash at all times. If you're a dog owner, they do patrol the park frequently and your dog must be leashed."

Creek exploration opportunities: O'Neill Park features a "Nice creek for kids to explore" according to Johnny G., providing natural play areas beyond standard playgrounds. These water features are seasonal and depend on rainfall.

Weather considerations with children: Blue Jay Campground visitor Johnny G. warns about temperature fluctuations: "It can get extremely cold at night in the canyons, even if it's in the high 80s during the day. Be prepared." Pack layers for everyone, especially children.

    Tips from RVers

RV site selection strategy: For Waterfront RV Park, Zach R. recommends specific sites: "If I were again to come, I would stay in a site in the 84-89 numbers, and the sites 26-36 are HUGE. We stayed in site number 43 in our 29 foot Class A. It was just fine." Site selection can significantly impact your experience.

Water fill and dump station details: Manuel P. shares practical information about Doheny State Beach: "RV tank filling also available at the same location of dump site only a few feet away as you drive out. You can screw in your own hose and you're good to go." He also notes the $10 dump fee with credit card payment option.

Electrical considerations: At Crystal Cove, Patrick J. mentions "We had 30/50 amp electrical and water" and "Dump station is on your way out, with 3 stations in that row." Be aware of which campgrounds offer hookups versus dry camping.

Backing challenges at certain sites: Bolsa Chica State Beach presents challenges where "Spots are all concrete, very tight so you better be good at backing up your toys," according to Jesse A. Know your RV maneuvering skills when selecting certain campgrounds.
