Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Orange, CA

Orangeland RV Park's double dog run areas accommodate pets of all sizes with no breed restrictions. Full hook-up RV sites welcome pet owners throughout the park, which maintains a clean, well-maintained environment for both short and extended stays. The grounds feature orange trees guests can pick from while walking their dogs. Dogs are limited to two per site with designated relief areas that some visitors note can become somewhat odorous during peak seasons. Anaheim Harbor RV Park allows pets with standard sites that include hook-ups for RVs, while Canyon RV Park extends pet-friendly accommodations to include cabins and yurts alongside traditional RV spaces. Newport Dunes RV Resort, Moro Campground at Crystal Cove State Park, and O'Neill Regional Park offer additional pet-friendly options near Orange with varying amenities and site configurations.

Walking distance to Disneyland distinguishes Anaheim Harbor RV Park as particularly convenient for pet owners visiting attractions. The property maintains security personnel at night, ensuring safe evening dog walks around the perimeter. Both Orangeland and Anaheim Harbor feature concrete pads with small grass areas (some artificial) where pets can relax beside RVs. Canyon RV Park provides access to nearby hiking trails along with fire pits for evening relaxation with pets. Most properties enforce standard leash requirements outside designated pet areas. Local traffic noise can be significant, with some visitors reporting street racing sounds near Orangeland and freeway noise at Canyon RV Park. Temperatures in summer months regularly exceed 90°F, requiring careful monitoring of pets, especially during midday hours when concrete surfaces can become dangerously hot for paw pads.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

    Hollywood RV Park

    Themed Park!

First of all, staff was amazing. We were originally supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and we’re not able to make it. Staff shifted our reservation instead of us eating the missed night cost. Also super accommodating allowing us to extend a day longer last minute. Park is tight quarters with 200 spots. Two laundry rooms/bathrooms with showers on site, plus a cute little dog park! We stayed for three nights. Every “road” in the park is themed with California or Hollywood themed decorations and murals. We were parked right next to a Mister Roger’s mural across from the laundry/bathrooms. My only complaint in the noise level at times which is not from the park itself. Helicopters would fly over randomly, sometimes at night and it could be annoying when trying to sleep. Otherwise, absolute GEM of a place!

    Golden Village Palms RV Resort

Don't Let the Town Deter You!

Being reasonably close to our home base, we frequent this park with the family. Major grocery and shopping establishments are nearby, with Target directly across the street, In-n-Out, local parks, and the like. Our kids love the pool area, grandparents love the pickleball courts, and there are always fun activities to do throughout the year. Full-timers are friendly and inclusive of newcomers and passer-throughs. Dog parks are clean and located at either corner of the park. The entrance security kiosk is staffed 24/7, and they'll even help spot you while parking your rig. We cannot say enough good things about this place.

Check their website for events and specials.

Launch Pointe Recreation Destination and RV Park

    Nicest cleanest campground

I had site 126 in the fields, corner site and lake view. This campground has a pool, splash pad, park, dog park and access to the lake. They also have a band on Saturday nights. The only bad part is they strictly enforce quiet time at 10pm. I felt like a kid being told to go to bed. I feel like on weekends people should be able to stay up late in front of their camper with low voices. Shouldn’t be hounded night after night! That was my only complaint.

    Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

    Pechanga RV Resort

    Convenient

Fairly level concrete pads. Very clean showers, but you have to push a button about every minute to keep water on, but they are free. Heated pool and hot tub though I didn’t try them out. Good location to get all of my errands done while visiting Temecula. A little dog park and they offer a shuttle if gambling is your thing, it’s not mine. Used my Passport America pass for 50% off which made it about $32.50 a night. Loved hearing the coyotes yipping during the night a couple of nights.

    Palm View RV Park

    This place is good

This is our 2nd time here it's quiet and they have the most interesting walkabout garden with little kickbacks where u can chill with whoever. If you don't have anybody walk on over next to the garden to find some nice goats and sheep and up on the little hill there's cute chickens of all whom can be pet as for they are all used to being pet. We bought some food that we feed them.

Guide to Orange

Pet friendly camping near Orange, California offers year-round options with temperatures typically ranging from 45°F in winter to over 90°F in summer months. The region sits at approximately 150-300 feet elevation with the surrounding hills rising to 1,000+ feet, creating varied terrain for different camping experiences. Most campgrounds in the area experience peak visitation from May through September when daytime temperatures regularly exceed 80°F.

What to do

Hiking accessible trails: At O'Neill Regional Park, numerous hiking trails offer varying difficulty levels. "You can be camping 20-30 mins away from Irvine. This site is great if you like hiking, biking, MTB, and running. It is very clean, and the showers are free and clean as well," notes Mike G.

Water activities: Newport Dunes RV Resort offers beach and water recreation options. "They have a movie on the beach when we were there, and fun water toys out," shares Kimberly A. The resort includes "an inflatable obstacle course in the water to climb on," according to Aaron S.

Mountain biking: The trails near Chino Hills State Park provide excellent terrain for cycling enthusiasts. "Opportunities to cycle and hike throughout the park were abundant," mentions Shari G., who adds that "hiking trails to the nearby hills which provided unique perspectives on the suburban sprawl, began right out of the campground."

What campers like

Orange picking opportunities: At Orangeland RV Park, guests can harvest fresh citrus fruit. "Super friendly staff, super clean, 2 dog parks, offers really good wifi & cable. Can pick the oranges out of the tree," states Alivia R. This unique amenity provides a special experience for campers and their pets.

Beach views: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground provides oceanfront sites. "Sites next to the beach. Spots are all concrete, very tight so you better be good at backing up your toys. Water and electric only but they do have a dump station," mentions Jesse A. Another camper notes, "People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool."

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds prioritize cleanliness, particularly appreciated by those with pets. "Bathroom and showers are clean and lots of hiking trails to choose from," says Brandice S. about O'Neill Regional Park. At Moro Campground, one reviewer mentioned, "The bathrooms are spotless. They were being cleaned frequently."

What you should know

Traffic noise considerations: Several campgrounds experience road noise due to their proximity to highways. At Canyon RV Park, "The site is bordered by highways on both sides, and they create noise day and night. They're also clearly visible," explains Christina S. However, another camper notes, "I litteraly forgot where i was because its like a little bubble... everything behind you just melts away."

Summer heat warnings: Temperatures regularly exceed 90°F during summer months, requiring extra precautions. "It is a nice campground in the spring or fall. No shade so avoid in the summer," advises a reviewer about Chino Hills State Park. For beaches, Michele H. mentions, "People watching at the boardwalk is amazing," but summer crowds increase dramatically.

Reservation timing: Most campgrounds fill quickly, especially during peak season. "This campground fills up fast so book early!" advises Elly A. about Moro Campground. Weekends at O'Neill Regional Park "fill up fast since it's a small drive from the hustle and bustle of Orange county life," according to another reviewer.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Family camping requires planning specific activities. "If you're camping with kids, it doesn't get much better than this! We stayed at campsite #58 which we felt was very large and private," notes Johnny G. about O'Neill Regional Park. He adds that the park has a "great playground for children" and a "nice creek for kids to explore."

Safety considerations: For families with pets and children, security is important. "On-site guard at night for safety," mentions Emily S. about Orangeland RV Park, which also offers "dog runs (kinda stinky, though)." The security allows for safe evening walks with pets.

Educational opportunities: Some campgrounds offer learning activities. "Recently paved streets (perfect for scootering, skating, biking)" and a "great 'Story Trail' hike for children. The hike features a new book every month, each page is mounted to a placard along the trail," explains Johnny G. about O'Neill Regional Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: RV campers recommend specific sites at certain campgrounds. At Chino Hills State Park, "Upper spots were not level, but they had a nicer view. Lower spots were more level," advises Laura M., noting the trade-offs between view and convenience. For pet owners, choosing sites closer to designated dog areas can make daily routines easier.

Pet accommodation details: For those traveling with pets to Orange County, research specific policies. "Full hook-up RV sites welcome pet owners throughout" several parks, but policies vary. At Orangeland RV Park, "Only two dogs allowed, we had to leave one with a friend," mentions Brian C., an important consideration for multi-pet families.

Hook-up variations: Different campgrounds offer varying levels of RV services. At O'Neill Regional Park, "they have water spigots shared between campsites (if you bring a 'y' you can stay connected, otherwise fill tanks and disconnect)," explains James. He adds, "Self pump out (free) and good rubbish collection points throughout," which is particularly useful for longer stays with pets.
