    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Gardena, California are predominantly developed facilities oriented toward RV and urban camping, ranging from oceanfront RV parks to tent-permitted beach sites. The Los Angeles area features several oceanfront RV parks like Dockweiler Beach RV Park in Playa Del Rey, approximately 7 miles west of Gardena. Additional camping can be found at Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground in Huntington Beach. Most facilities in this region cater primarily to RVs with full hookups, though some permit tent camping in designated areas.

Access to campgrounds in this urban coastal setting remains consistent year-round with minimal seasonal closures, though reservations are essential during summer months when beach campgrounds reach capacity. The region's mild Mediterranean climate supports camping throughout all seasons, with temperatures rarely dropping below 50°F even in winter. Most established campgrounds require advance reservations and enforce quiet hours. While primarily developed for RVs, several facilities offer amenities like showers, restrooms, and sanitary dump stations. A visitor noted: "The RV park has a hookup area and a dry camping area. The hookups are full of large rigs, very close one with another, in a parking lot style."

Beachfront settings distinguish camping in this region, with several sites offering direct ocean access and views. Dockweiler Beach RV Park receives consistent positive reviews for its prime location despite proximity to LAX airport. Many campers appreciate the beachfront sites and access to miles of coastal biking paths. Several reviews mention noise considerations due to urban location and airport proximity. One camper shared: "Great spot where you are never alone. Depending on the season, the lot can be packed. It is accommodating for some different size vehicles and has direct beach access and some amenities such as fire pits on the beach." Proximity to urban attractions including shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues makes these campgrounds popular for visitors exploring Los Angeles while maintaining outdoor accommodations.

      Waterfront RV Park

      No van conversions

As a heads up, they accept only factory van conversions with black and gray water tanks. So no self conversions. As a facility, it seems very nice, my RVing friend has been coming in here for years and absolutely loves it

      Valencia Travel Village

      Great place, great folks

I do recommend. Beautiful, peaceful place. Good folks. It’s right near Magic Mountain theme park and many useful stores nearby: Home Depot, Walmart, Target, genetic stores, movie theaters. I’ll camp here again.

      Two Harbors Campground

      Very nice spots. Dixies

We had spot 11 which was great (view! Low and thus close to the beach! although it only just fit our small 4P Kelty Late start on the level spot, there was a lot of room.

Toilets are Dixie's which aren't always clean and have banging doors, avoid the campsites close to them. I would also avoid the higher campsites including the rentals, as the hike to the beach becomes annoying.

Did a great hike to Cat Harbor overlook. Tough climb but beautiful.

The walk from ferry to campsite is short (less that 10 minutes) especially for this site (which is closest) but contains a steep hill and rough gravel. There is firewood service (15$) and luggage (10$/item) but we didn't need it. Shop normally has delivery service with temp cooler but was unavailable. Well stocked but expensive.

      Malibu Beach RV Park

      Beautiful Views

Love this place so much that our family canceled reservations at two other places to spend a few extra nights.  The views are fantastic, the bathroom and showers are so clean, and the delicious seafood restaurant a walk down the hill is just a bonus.  Staff were kind and helpful at check-in.  It's a great base camp to explore the LA area.  We tent camped here 20 years ago and when we came back this time with our RV it was even better than we remembered.

      Table Mountain Campground

      Spacious Campground with Stunning Views

Well-kept campground with minimal amenities, but the breathtaking views more than make up for it. Very quiet, less than half the sites were occupied during our stay. Only real drawback was it was quite breezy, but it was perfectly manageable with proper planning.

The nearby lodge was a neat addition, and there’s a very cool disc golf course next door.

Site 49 was flat and spacious, with a spectacular view of the sunset.

      Malibu Creek State Park Campground

rude staff and don’t answer phone

don’t try to reach out to this park via phone with any questions, they won’t answer you. they won’t even answer the phone when their own reservation agents are calling them. gates close strictly at 10 so if you’re camping here make sure to show up by then. showed up at 9:58 after leaving a music festival early to make sure i made it on time, and their staff was immensely rude to me about not making it on time. the morning staff is incredibly nice, apologizing for the problems and giving me advice. the night staff though has a problem and they take it out on their visitors. for how rude they were to me, somehow the campsite across from me showed up at 11pm, so seems like they pick and choose who to give problems. avoid camping here. campsites are very close together and nothing special.

      Coldbrook Campground

      Awesome place, reasonable price

We have been to this campground quite a few times in the last couple of years and I really love it, personally because it’s really close to home. I also love that it’s first come first serve, which allows us to spontaneously go and enjoy without having to make reservations. I also like the fact that all the campsites have a fire pit and a picnic table, which were very recently replaced so they look very new. They installed metal storage boxes for saving your food overnight, this is super helpful. I love the creek even though the water is freezing cold but it’s truly a favorite. This place is wonderful and even though right now there is no water access until further notice, as long as you know you need to take lots of water for cooking and cleaning up you are good.

      Golden Shore RV Resort

Great for campers looking to unhook their campers and explore the area

The place is simple, well maintained and extremely clean. There’s back in sites that accommodate smaller 20ft campers and bigger 30ft campers, with there being some pull through sites that are big enough for RV’s, however no camping with tents allowed. Would recommend against bringing in campers with damage or DIY repairs as they “have to maintain sightly appearance”. Overall great for the price. Extremely clean bathrooms with free showers with a pool and jacuzzi plus a short walk to the beach. Only about a 45 min drive to LA with no traffic. The only bad is the constant noise from the port that doesn’t go away at night.

    Guide to Gardena

Camping options near Gardena, California are primarily urban in nature, with most facilities located within 15-25 miles of the city center. The coastal climate allows for year-round camping with winter temperatures rarely dropping below 45°F at night, while summer daytime temperatures typically range from 70-85°F. Most camping in this region requires advance planning due to the popularity of coastal sites and limited availability of natural camping areas within this densely developed metropolitan region.

    What to do

Beach access and exploration: Dockweiler Beach RV Park offers direct beach access with fire pits available for evening gatherings. A visitor noted, "We parked right by the Pacific Ocean, watched planes from LAX fly overhead, and soaked in a stunning sunset. It was the ideal place to settle into our campervan life as a Desi-Filipino-Canadian family on a 5000 KM adventure."

Biking along coastal paths: Golden Shore RV Resort provides access to extensive beach bike trails. As one camper shared, "Great Long Beach location, a nice bike ride along the beach to Naples and the Queen Mary. Highly recommended."

Wildlife viewing: At Seabreeze At Seal Beach, visitors can enjoy nearby wetlands with abundant birdwatching opportunities. "Wetlands on the base and birds galore," mentions a reviewer who appreciated this natural feature within the urban setting.

    What campers like

Urban proximity with outdoor access: Campers appreciate locations like Malibu Creek State Park Campground for their balance of nature and urban accessibility. A visitor described it as "Three miles from a the grocery and only minutes from north LA, you'll find a basic campground with flush toilets, coin showers, and easily accessible hiking trails."

Pool and amenities: Several RV parks offer swimming pools and additional amenities. One visitor at Golden Shore RV Resort mentioned, "Pool and hot tub are clean. Nice showers. Stores and restaurants super close. We had PF Changs delivered."

Waterfront views: Malibu Beach RV Park provides ocean overlook sites. A camper shared, "Most amazing views of the pacific from the ocean view sites. Friendly staff at check in and wonderful experience, even despite the pouring rain."

    What you should know

Military access requirements: Some campgrounds have specific access rules. Seabreeze At Seal Beach is military-only, with a visitor noting, "A well kept secret with one drawback; everyone has to have an ID card to get on the base or be pre approved by base security."

Airport noise considerations: Proximity to airports affects some locations. A Dockweiler camper shared, "We loved this spot next to the beach. We got used to the planes, but they are certainly jarring at first."

Site types and configurations: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground has specific site arrangements. One camper described it as, "This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren't huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight."

    Tips for camping with families

Best campground amenities: Bonelli Bluffs offers a variety of family-friendly activities. A camper explained, "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more."

Proximity to attractions: Some campgrounds provide convenient access to major attractions. A visitor at Anaheim Harbor RV Park shared, "We walked to and back from Disney. Super easy. It's a mile each way."

Educational opportunities: Several campgrounds offer nature learning experiences. At Malibu Creek State Park Campground, "The state park is a former movie set and is filled with easily accessible trails for hiking and some for mountain biking. The primary trails were open fire roads with off-shoots to lakes, pools, meadows, and more."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection guidance: Choose RV sites strategically at Dockweiler Beach. "Review of dry campervan section of park only, which seemed considerably more quiet and less chaotic than the big RV area... Best sites are 125-128."

Reservations and timing: Book well in advance for beach locations, especially during summer months. At Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground, a visitor advised checking site dimensions carefully: "Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit."

Urban RV considerations: For those wanting to explore Los Angeles, Hollywood RV Park offers a unique urban camping experience. A visitor shared, "This seems to be one of the best places to stay with an RV to visit LA, since driving and parking and RV in LA can be challenging and parking an RV in west LA is not allowed."
