Best RV Parks & Resorts near Warner Springs, CA

Several RV resorts dot the landscape near Warner Springs, California, providing full hookup options with varying amenities. The Springs at Borrego RV Resort offers year-round access with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections suitable for larger rigs. Ramona Oaks RV Resort features both pull-through and back-in sites with full hookups, while Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort in Borrego Springs provides concrete pads with 30-amp and 50-amp options. Many parks accommodate big rigs, though site spacing can be tight, especially during peak seasons. Seasonal considerations heavily impact RV camping in this desert region. Summer temperatures frequently exceed 100°F, making fall through spring the preferred camping seasons. Dump stations are available at most resorts, though some like Pio Pico require tokens purchased during office hours. Cell service varies significantly across the area, with stronger connections at parks closer to towns. Desert winds can be intense, particularly at night, affecting awnings and outdoor equipment. Most resorts welcome pets but maintain designated dog areas with specific rules. Propane is available at select locations, including Stagecoach Trails Resort, which also offers firewood for purchase. One camper mentioned, "The campsites are close together, but we were placed at a site with no neighbors when we camped there May 5-7. It probably would have been a much different experience if the campground was totally full."

    Lake Jennings

    Lake Jennings, A Peaceful Escape

We took our 28-foot travel trailer and two young kids (ages 5 & 8) for a long weekend at Lake Jennings Campground in Lakeside, CA — and it was a fantastic quick escape. Just 30 minutes east of San Diego. This hilltop park offers peaceful vibes, spacious sites, and family fun without the long drive. RV-Friendly Sites Our full-hookup pull-through site (30-amp) was easy to maneuver with plenty of space and privacy. Many sites have nice lake or city views (worth the small upgrade). Hookups worked great, and the clean restrooms/hot showers were a short walk away. Free Wi-Fi was a handy bonus. The shaded, covered playground was a huge hit, along with games like ladder golf, cornhole, and horseshoes. Short hiking trails start right from the campground with great lake overlooks. We rented a boat for fishing (no swimming — it’s a drinking water reservoir) and the kids loved spotting wildlife. Quiet hours were respected for good sleep. Friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and a safe, gated feel made it relaxing. Pricing is reasonable Lake Jennings delivers scenic views, roomy RV sites, and kid-friendly activities in a convenient location. Perfect for families wanting a low-key getaway close to home. We’ll be back! Highly recommended for RV families

    Sweetwater Summit Regional Park

    Family Bonding Heaven

Our big family of eight had a wonderful four-night stay at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park Campground in Bonita with our 45ft travel trailer, and the North Loop provided a convenient base just 20-25 minutes from downtown San Diego. We secured one of the spacious premium pull-through sites. #63 which had full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer) on a long paved pad that comfortably handled our large rig and gave everyone plenty of room to spread out with multiple vehicles and outdoor setups. The kids loved the playgrounds, seasonal splash pad, gentle family hiking trails with beautiful Sweetwater Reservoir views, plus picnicking, fishing opportunities, and open spaces for group games—making it an ideal spot for memorable family bonding with modern amenities right at hand.Book early (as early as a year in advance) as the North Loop fills quickly, especially the premium spots.

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Thousand Trails Palm Springs

    Lovely TT RV Resort!!!

The is a beautiful Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm Springs, California! The park is large, very spacious and so clean! The gorgeous Palm trees are a little bit of a parking hazard, but they were here before we were! 😊 And besides, they are so beautiful to look at every day. The park feels like a day on beach with white sand to park on in most spaces, towering Palm trees, and brightly colored tropical flowers. What a treat in the winter! We are here in November and December and daytime high’s are in the low 80’s. The park is split in half with one side 30 amp FHU and the other half 50 amp FHU. For TT members, there is not an additional charge for 50 amp. Quite a deal! There is plenty of room to get out and walk in this park, along with a nice dog park, playground, billiards room, swimming pool and spa, horseshoes, 8 pickle ball courts, many laundry rooms and restrooms, and community recreation room. The surrounding mountains ranges are pretty amazing, too. This park is close to it all in the Palm Springs area and everything is within a short drive. Joshua Tree National Park and the Salton Sea is just over a half hour away. The Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort is perfect and we will definitely be visiting again!

Shadow Hills RV Resort is a stellar urban RV resort with all the amenities. Full hookups, daily trash pickups at each site, cable tv, large level pads with privacy hedge, small dog parks scattered throughout, gated security, nice restrooms w/ showers (free). Jojoba Hills SKP Resort

A little Pricey, but a Gem!

You must be an Escapee member to stay here. Many long term residents who stay here seasonally or year round. It's a co-op, so members do a lot of the work around the place.

If you're not a long term resident, you can rent either a full hook-up site for $45 a night or $270/week. Dry camping sites are $15 night.

The people here are lovely. I attended a holiday play while I was there. There's a gym, a pool, several hot tubs and so many activities to participate in. Also great hiking trails right inside the co-op.

Temecula is just a short drive away with all the stores you would need. I had a nice two week stay. Recommended.

Guide to Warner Springs

RV sites near Warner Springs, California provide accommodations in a high desert region with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 3,500 feet. Temperature swings can exceed 40°F between day and night, particularly during spring and fall seasons. Many campgrounds report stronger cell service in Warner Springs proper, with coverage deteriorating in surrounding canyons and mountain areas.

What to do

Stargazing opportunities: Borrego Springs is a designated Dark Sky Community with exceptional night viewing. "We stayed at the Springs at Borrego many times with friends and always have a wonderful time. If you like to bike, this is a great spot, as the roads are very quiet," notes one visitor at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort.

Hiking trails: Multiple paths through desert terrain offer opportunities to see native plants and wildlife. "Borrego Springs is completely surrounded by Anza Borrego Desert State Park where there's tons of options for hiking, off roading, other camping, and general exploring," says a camper at Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort.

Golf courses: Several resorts feature well-maintained golf facilities. "Three of our party enjoyed the 9-hole golf course which is in excellent condition," mentions a review about The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course.

What campers like

Resort amenities: Many locations offer pools, hot tubs, and recreation facilities. "We had access to a pool and hot tub which was great for daytime & nighttime relaxing. There are two pool areas, 'one for the hotel and one for the RV Park' but you can go to either," shares a reviewer at Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort.

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate parks with room to set up. "The camp sites are more spacious than I expected and have mature landscaping between sites. The grounds are immaculate!!!" notes a visitor to The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course.

Local attractions: Easy access to nearby destinations enhances the experience. "Beautiful RV resort with short drives to the beach, San Diego, and casinos. Full hook ups, pool, dog walk," states a review from Escondido RV Resort.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer temperatures make camping challenging. "I wouldn't recommend planning your trip mid-May to mid-September as temperatures are dangerously high. It's quite lovely in the winter!" advises a camper at Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort.

Site differences: Quality and spacing vary significantly between parks and spaces. "Ramona Oaks is exactly what it says RV Resort, they do have 4 tent sites available which are ok just very rocky. One thing i didn't like was the tent sites being so close to the main road," reports a visitor to Ramona Oaks RV Resort.

Water quality issues: Some locations report problems with water supply. "Nice quiet and clean campground. With a lots of hiking trails and activities to do. The only downside is the drinking water has issues," notes a camper at Ramona Oaks RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Pool access: Many resorts offer swimming facilities that appeal to children. "Amenities isn't all that great when they're not maintained well. Gym has damaged equipment, pool has lose hand rails and heated pool is filthy," cautions a reviewer at Circle RV Resort.

Playground availability: Some locations provide dedicated play areas. "They do have a nice playground for the kids," mentions a visitor to Ramona Oaks RV Resort.

Recreation options: Family-friendly activities vary by location. "Went camping in August, during a heatwave, and had Covid restrictions. Even with all of that, we had a good time! We were in spot 21 right by the pond. Camped in a tent trailer and had plenty of room to set up an outdoor sitting and cooking areas," shares a camper at Ramona Oaks RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Reservation timing: Popular locations fill quickly during peak seasons. "Reserve a year in advance if you want a site during the nicest months of the year (winter)," advises a visitor to Thompson Palms Campground.

Noise factors: Highway and train noise affects some parks. "The 8 freeway runs behind it so it's extremely noisy at all hours. Never saw anyone to talk with," reports a camper at Circle RV Resort.

Site leveling challenges: Uneven parking pads can create difficulties. "We unfortunately got one that was an end spot so it angled down to one side quite a bit. It was difficult for us to get level and costs us our 'patio' area since there wasn't enough room for our rug," notes a visitor at Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort.
