Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Bonelli Bluffs

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park

One of the Best County Parks you will find

This is a great park in Southern Orange County. I have tent camped here for years with my kids in the Live Oak campground and never had a bad experience. There are hiking trails everywhere with lots of wildlife to watch. I switched to a travel trailer several years ago and now use Ortega Flats campground. The sites are big and well spaced, with 30 amp electric. The water is off for the time being. The dump station is very close by and easy to access.

    Bonita Ranch Campground

    Just ok overall

Needed somewhere fairly close to home to take my new to us motorhome. Sites were decent size but fairly close together so don’t expect a lot of privacy. Sites interspersed among long term residents. Hookups water and electric at each site. Some shade, trails to riverbed currently mostly dry and Bonita falls about 25 minute walk over river rock. Fire rings available to rent for $5. The biggest issue I had was our electric went out to our loop at about 7:30pm…luckily we are self contained…it still had not been restored when we left the next day at noonish. The lights to the office area and restrooms was still on (thankfully) but not the camp sites.

Guide to Buena Park

Recreational vehicle campgrounds around Buena Park, California, offer convenient access to both urban attractions and outdoor activities. Located in Orange County at approximately 75 feet above sea level, the region experiences a Mediterranean climate with average summer temperatures around 85°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 50°F. Most RV parks in the area remain open year-round with peak occupancy occurring during summer months and major holiday periods.

What to do

Water activities at Newport Beach: Just 20 miles from Buena Park, Newport Dunes RV Resort offers beach access with inflatable water obstacles. "They have a movie on the beach when we were there, and fun water toys out," notes one visitor. The resort provides paddleboard rentals and a lagoon suitable for swimming.

Explore wildlife areas: Military personnel staying at Seabreeze At Seal Beach can enjoy unique wetland access. "Wetlands on the base and birds galore," reports one camper. Another mentioned it's "a great place to kayak," with adjacent wildlife reserves making it ideal for walking pets.

Miniature golf and splash pad: Families at Rancho Jurupa RV Park can enjoy on-site recreation without leaving the campground. "Splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities," writes one reviewer. Another camper mentioned, "There are some great kid friendly activities," making it suitable for family trips with children.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention cleanliness across Buena Park area RV parks. At Golden Shore RV Resort, "The pool, showers, bathrooms are all spotless," according to one reviewer. Another noted the "RV Park very close to downtown Long Beach. Nice restroom and laundry facilities. Pool and hot tub are clean."

Security features: Safety measures are highlighted at several campgrounds near Buena Park. One camper at Rancho Jurupa Park appreciated the "great sense of community and great placement of the gates for safety purposes," adding "Ranger is on constant patrol." Golden Shore visitors mentioned feeling "very quiet and safe. Security is very good and felt very safe, especially considering the location."

Citrus trees: Unique to Orangeland RV Park, guests can pick fresh fruit during their stay. "You can pick all the oranges you want!" shared one camper. Another mentioned "Free citrus picking!" among the amenities, providing a distinctive experience not commonly found at RV parks.

What you should know

Size restrictions and extra fees: Many parks have specific rules about vehicle size and additional charges. At Anaheim Harbor RV Park, "If your travel trailer is 21ft you MUST pay for a parking spot even if your total length is less than 40 ft." Sites often accommodate specific vehicle types differently: "Standard sites are for motorhomes of 40 ft or less BUT travel trailers of 20 feet or less."

Reservation timing: During peak periods, advance booking is essential for Buena Park area campgrounds. At Huntington Beach RV Campground, "The campground is only open October through May since this lot is traditionally used for summer beach parking." This seasonal limitation requires planning months ahead.

Military access requirements: Seabreeze At Seal Beach maintains strict security protocols. "A well kept secret with one drawback; everyone has to have an ID card to get on the base or be pre approved by base security," notes a visitor. Another reviewer clarified, "Must have military clearance to rv here," which limits civilian access.

Tips for camping with families

Look for kid-specific amenities: Campgrounds with dedicated children's areas enhance family stays. Newport Dunes offers "activities for the kids like arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course," while Orangeland RV Park provides "a covered play area" and "heated pool as well as a hot tub."

Consider noise levels: Different parks offer varying levels of quiet. One camper at Rancho Jurupa noted, "Neighbors were nice, cute set ups with twinkle lights and people enjoying outdoor fire pits. Campers were playing music, laughter echoes through camp ground but nothing too loud and all quiet later."

School-year visits: For families with children, visiting Bonelli Bluffs outside summer months means fewer crowds. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skis in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," writes a visitor, highlighting the diverse activities available when school is in session.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Experienced RVers recommend specific sites at Waterfront RV Park: "If I were again to come, I would stay in a site in the 84-89 numbers, and the sites 26-36 are HUGE." At Orangeland RV Park, "I'd try to stay closer to Struck and the western side."

Hookup considerations: RV parks near Buena Park offer varying utility connections. Bonelli Bluffs provides "All hookups 30/50 amp. Cable TV," while some parks like Waterfront RV Park have "full hookups were nice and welcomed" but tighter spacing that might limit awning extension.

Transportation options: For Disney-bound RVers, public transport can replace driving. At Orangeland RV Park, there's "On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access," and the park offers "a free shuttle" to Disneyland, reducing parking hassles during peak periods.
