The trick when camping in California is managing so many possibilities. Once you've visited the famous sites, try some creative approaches to camping in California.


When you think Napa Valley, you think of wine, not camping. But you can plan a wine vacation from behind the flap of your tent. Set up in one of the valley’s campgrounds then visit the many casual tasting rooms that won't mind dirt under your fingernails.  When you tire of drinking wine, hike Mt. St Helena, a dormant volcano. Or walk through the Petrified Forest, a forest that was turned to stone by the last eruption of the volcano. Or visit California’s Old Faithful, a nearby geyser.


Once you have found camping in California’s Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, center yourself in Tuolumne Meadows, a more remote section of the park with its own collection of charming granite domes. Here's a secret: Instead of joining the crowds of day hikers on the meadow's most popular trails, follow the backpackers north on the famed John Muir Trail. The trail meanders through meadows, along a river below alpine peaks. And best of all, the first 8 miles of this trail out of Tuolumne are flat. Hike until you find a spot to watch the marmots, then return to your campsite. For more, backpack another 23 miles to Reds Meadow where you can catch a shuttle back up to Tuolumne.

We are so excited to have you on our land and whether you're visiting from near or far, we wish your night (or more) with us on our property are enjoyable and relaxing =)

At our property you are conveniently staying within 45min of the Oregon border, 21min from downtown Mt Shasta, 24min from Lake Siskiyou and just a few minutes from Hwy. 97, taking you northeast towards endless forest recreation!

We ask that you kindly follow the below guidelines for a positive stay for all.

But before going further, we want to let you know of EXTRA AMENITIES we offer…-Laundry for $10/load, Showers for $10 per shower per individual and Organic, freshly-ground coffee served daily, brought to your site, starting at 7am - $3.50 for 12oz

Don't hesitate to add on these "Extras" to your booking if you're interested and feel called =)

All guests please be mindful about all TRASH and food scraps. pack it in, pack it out. Do not leave any food/garbage on the property as we've had a mice problem in the past and has been a lot of work to successfully remedy that.

Welcome to The Healing Place!

We are Hypnotherapists, Spiritual healers and own 20 majestic acres in McCloud, Ca with spectacular Mount Shasta views. We host CE5 events, Drum/Meditation Circles and Spirit Photography. We will let all guests that book know what events we are holding beforehand. I start with this, hoping to attract LikeMinds, Spiritual Wanders and Nature lovers. We just hosted Reuben Langdon and Bill Homann and his Mitchell- Hedges crystal skull for a new Tv Docu Series on Gaia Tv, this place holds special energy.

We are 6 miles to McCloud reservoir, 5 mins to town, 15 mins to McCloud Falls, and 20 mins to Mount Shasta. We have Kayaks available, ask for more info.

The Listing: We offer a 20ft Dome made by Pacific Domes located near our year-round creek. The Dome is private and has a composting Nature Head toilet outside near the Dome, for privacy. The outdoor shower is located up near the main house but tucked away in the forest for privacy. Guests in the dome have the restroom and shower to themselves. Please be mindful of our neighbors as you drive onto Circle Seven Rd, the speed limit is 10mph and we really honor our neighbors.

The Dome has electric, a beautiful chandelier with a Queen pillowtop mattress, super soft and cozy linens, Kitchen bar that includes a French Press, Hot water Kettle and Decanter with the healing Shasta waters. Two bedside lamps have usb chargers, a hammock (feel free to move hammock outside, too) a coat rack to place your shoes. (please remove shoes upon entering)

NO Wi-Fi, NO tv but you may choose to bring your iPad or phone for enjoyment, as cell service works well. We have Att and it's all we use for internet. No cooktop, or microwave so plan to eat out during your stay. I will let you know about all the great spots around to dine at, and also let you know the sacred spots and adventures. Corey, my other half, gives tours so If you have any questions and that means for anything, please text me and ill be happy to assist.

As much as we love kids and pets, we have a firm adult only policy, as we have so much wildlife around, and kids will be awfully tempted to climb the dome.

No fires, no exceptions. No BBQ or cooking. We are really trying to minimize the fire dangers here, as it has gotten really close throughout these last few years.

This place is a great spot for people to be one with nature, on sacred land, that love luxury camping. The compost toilet is super easy to use and not so bad, either! The outdoor shower hot water lasts for 20 mins and takes 20 mins to warm back up. we will provide all homemade organic soaps and towels. Please use natural based products in the shower.

Your privacy is important to us, so other than checking you in and showing you around, you probably wont see me. Know that I'm just a text away! I am also a long time vacation rental host, and grew up in Clayton, Ca on my families recreational park so its deep in my roots. We are planning on adding a massive Greenhouse and other unique units all over to host many like minds.

Mostly primitive camping, but we're improving all the time; and probably won't come back here to update, so please call for details. Ten acre flat land with no streetlights, and seldom any night time traffic; great for skywatching. Rockhounds, please ask where to get Serpentine rock and river rocks that were overturned in the 1930's gold mining dredging of the Scott River. Scott river free swimming holes. Wildlife. Hunting, shooting possible as law allows. No fire in summertime due to horrendous fires in past years. Plenty room for solitude, RV turnaround easy. Drunks, tweakers, or loud parties will be removed immediately. We welcome everyone who respects the land and our property rights regardless of age, color, whatever. Fresh mountain spring water available.

RV Sites which include 10 FHU sites or water and electric sites only, some with views of the Sacramento River. The whole family can enjoy swimming, fishing, the playground, exploring, exercising in the fitness center and so much more! Nestled in the trees right on beautiful Shasta Lake.

## Overview

Red Fir Flat Group Campground is located on the southern slope of Mt. Shasta at 6,400 feet in elevation. Snowpack in this location may extend into late June on heavy snow years, and usually sees late season snowfall in early November, possibly October. It is a popular site for meditation/retreat groups. **Maximum stay limit is 7 days per group and or indvidual(s)**

## Recreation

Most visitors enjoy the peace and solitude of the forest setting. Several hiking trails are located nearby, including the trail to the historic stone cabin at timberline owned and operated by the Sierra Club Foundation. Also within a few miles are Upper and Lower Panther Meadows, the access trail to South Gate Meadows and the trail to Gray Butte.

## Facilities

Facilities include several picnic tables, an established fire ring, bear proof trash recepticles and vault toilet. Limited garbage service is provided and visitors are asked to pack out what they can. There is no water at this site; please bring your own. Campfires are allowed with a California Campfire Permit. Gathering of dead and down firewood is allowed for use while in the campground.

## Natural Features

The campground is situated in an old growth forest of Shasta red fir. The forest provides plenty of shade and has open sunny spots as well. There is no view of the upper mountain from this location; however, views to the west and south include the Trinity Alps, Mount Eddy, and Castle Crags. 

## Nearby Attractions

The area offers hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and climbing routes to the summit of Mt. Shasta. Mt. Shasta City is 10 miles away and provides full services including grocery stores and restaurants.

Red Fir Flat Group Campground

## Overview

Girard Ridge Lookout was constructed in 1931 and used by the Forest Service on a regular basis until 1981. It is one of the few remaining historic lookouts on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The structure at Girard Ridge is reportedly the oldest lookout of its particular design remaining in California. It was restored to its original character in 1997. The lookout offers primitive accommodations, but visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of the mountains during the day and bright, starry skies at night. Staying at Girard Ridge Lookout is an unforgettable experience. 

## Recreation

While the main recreation at Girard Ridge Lookout is enjoying the scenery, there are opportunities to hike, hunt, and fish. Hikers can walk north on the Forest Service road for 3 miles from the lookout to where it meets the Pacific Crest Trail.

## Facilities

Girard Ridge Lookout stands 13 feet off the ground and is accessed via a flight of stairs. It has a standard 14x14 foot cabin with a gable roof and exterior catwalk. There is a separate building with a vault toilet that is accessed by going down the stairs and walking about 30 feet. The cabin offers two twin beds with mattresses. Cabinets are available for storage and there is a table for eating. Visitors have access to cleaning supplies, including a mop, broom, and cleansers. The lookout has no cooking facilities, no water and no electricity. Visitors are required to bring water. A heat source is needed in cooler temperatures. There are no dishes, utensils, cookware, linens or bedding at the lookout. Visitors must bring garbage bags to pack out trash. The use of portable stoves using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel is allowed with a valid California campfire permit, but no wood or charcoal fires are permitted ( Click here for more information about Girard Ridge Lookout).

## Natural Features

The lookout is located above the Sacramento River Canyon at a height of 4,809 feet. Spectacular views of Mount Shasta are seen to the north, the gray spires of the Castle Crags frame almost the entire view to the west and the distant silhouette of Lassen Peak can be seen to the southeast. Girard Ridge Lookout is surrounded by northern California mixed conifer forest. Bears and other animals live in the surrounding forest (click here for information on bear safety).

Castle Crags State Park is nearby, offering hiking trails, including access to the Castle Crags Wilderness in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, and the chance to fish and swim in the Sacramento River.

Girard Ridge Lookout

Fowlers Campground is located on the Upper McCloud River five miles east of McCloud, California. The campground is nestled in a mixed conifer and oak woodland. The campground offers paved parking spurs, running water and vault restrooms. Recreation A river-side trail from the campground provides access to the falls. It is approximately three miles round trip to see all three. Swimming and fishing are other popular activities. This section of river has no special restrictions for fishing. The McCloud River Loop, a paved road approximately 10 miles in length provides access to the Middle Falls and Upper Falls parking lots and overlooks if you do not wish to hike the trail. Facilities The campground has 35 regular campsites and two double campsites with tables, fire-rings, vault toilets and piped drinking water. Some sites are equipped with bear resistant food storage lockers. Sites are suitable for tents and mid-sized RVs or trailers. Large RVs are not recommended. Campground is typically staffed with a resident host. Natural Features Fowlers Campground is located on the eastside of majestic Mt. Shasta (14,179 foot summit) at an elevation of 3,300 feet. This area is at the southern tip of the Cascade Mountain Range. The area hosts abundant botanical and wildlife species. This campground is mostly known for the nearby McCloud River waterfalls. The McCloud Falls can be accessed via the McCloud River Trail or by road. The waterfalls vary in height from 15 to 50 feet. Nearby Attractions The Lower, Middle and Upper McCloud water falls, Lakin Dam Fishing Area, Cattle Camp Swimming Hole, McCloud Reservoir, Medicine Lake Highlands and the towns of McCloud (10 mins.) and Mt. Fowlers Campground

Description : This small primitive campground is nestled in a thick mixed conifer forest approximately ¼ mile below Castle Lake. There are 6 sites with tables, fire rings and vault toilets. Bring your own water. 3-night limit. No fee. No reservations. Not recommended for large vehicle or trailers. Usually opens around the end of May depending on when the snow melts, and usually is closed by snow around the first of November. Features : Visitors may walk or drive the short distance to the lake. Castle Lake is a pristine glacial cirque lake with granite cliffs and clear water, one of the most popular attractions in the Mt. Shasta area. Hiking, swimming, fishing, and flat-water kayaking are favorite activities here. There are a few hiking trails to explore including the short and easy Shoreline Trail on the west side of the lake. Special note about Castle Lake Please be aware that Castle Lake is partially situated on private property. The traditional trail to Heart Lake and Little Castle Lake leaves the east end of the parking area and ascends to the divide above the east side of the lake. It begins on public land in section 24 of T39N R5W but immediately crosses the boundary of section 19 of T39N R4W. This entire section of land (about 640 acres) is privately owned property and posted as such. There is no legal access across this section to these lakes. Please be respectful and avoid trespassing. However, the west shore of the lake is public and features a short trail with easy access to the water.
