Camping near Angeles National Forest
Angeles National Forest has many different types of camping spots throughout its boundaries. Buckhorn Campground gives you good shade and private sites between the tall trees, making it a quiet place to camp. Crystal Lake Recreation Area Campground draws many campers because of the good views and hiking trails that start nearby. You can take walks on the paths that go through the woods around Crystal Lake. Chilao Campground is more basic with fewer amenities but has great views of the surrounding landscape. This spot works well if you like a simpler approach to camping. You should try to make reservations ahead of time, especially if you're planning to visit in summer when the campgrounds fill up fast. The forest has lots of wildlife, so store your food properly to keep animals away from your site. Bear canisters are a good idea for keeping your campsite safe. Check for any fire bans during dry weather before you go. Since you're at higher elevation, the nights get cold, so bring warm clothes. The forest is great for hiking, fishing or just relaxing at your campsite. Always pack out what you pack in and follow Leave No Trace principles to keep the forest nice for everyone else.
